Best/Worst Beatdowns!
No ebb n flow, just one sided thrashings, and you either loved it or it tore into the core of your soul!
4. Anthony Pederson vs Jermain White- just a tuneup fight for Anthony who had a fighter that was 13-0. Nice kid, but it was the first time I had seen a fighter [Pederson]holler (POP!) everytime he landed- at one point it sounded like popcorn was popping. By the end of the 3rd Too-Sweet white got to his corner and said "Man throw in the towel, I'm done" Glad he didnt get hurt, but it was fun watching him get popped for 3 straight rounds.
3. Ali vs Terrell (whats my name, whats my name- he wanted to punish him & he did)
2. Bowe vs Gonzalez (unlike Michael Grant who was HYPED up for Lewis- I accepted the status for Jorge,[23-0 21kos] because he did drop and beat up Bowe in the amatuers- Lennox I think also-
The pre-fight antics were classic. They threw stuff at each other, and couldn't even attend pre-events together afterwards- Gonzalez said he wanted to KILL Bowe and eat his heart!
Bowe beat this boy so bad, at one point he should've been DQ'd for hitting after the bell-from one corner all the way to Jorge's corner. This fight wasn't even close, but I enjoyed the whoopin' Bowe put on 6'5 plus Gonzalez.
1. Mosley vs Margarito- I was still upset from the beating Margarito put on cotto, so this was sweet to watch Rito get pummelled & manhandled by a shorter foe, then stopped.
Worst- watching Holmes beat Ali when I was in grade school- was devastating.
Calzaghe vs RJJ- I knew Roy was past his prime, but he had never been busted up. And a guy who is accused of throwing slapping punches had RJJ bleeding like a hog. Man, that hurt to see.
Chavez vs Macho Man- I knew the outcome. As much I respected JCC, I just dug the antics & ring attire of Camacho. He got thrashed, could have quit, but he was macho enough to keep taking it till the end.
I'm sure there are a few others, I can't think of right now, but I ran into Bowe-Gonzalez last night looking through some DVD's and thought about how many lopsided fights, I didn't mind watching.

Re: Best/Worst Beatdowns!
1954
Using his peek-a-boo style, Floyd Patterson decked Jimmy Slade twice in the opening round, and once in the 2nd, 3rd, and 8th rounds on his way to a shutout win at Madison Square Garden over 8 one-sided rounds.
1956
It was game Pete Rademacher’s turn in 1956 when the Olympic Heavyweight Gold Medalist made his professional debut—Lomachenko style-- against Patterson (32-1 at the time). Rademacher was knocked down six times, Patterson was knocked down in the 2nd round. The end was not pretty.
1959
After a series of defenses against fringe contenders --Hurricane Jackson, Rademacher, Roy Harris and Brian London-- Patterson met Ingemar Johansson of Sweden, the number one contender, in the first of three thrilling fights. Johansson triumphed over Patterson on June 26, 1959, with the referee Ruby Goldstein mercifully stopping the fight in the third round after Ingo had knocked Patterson down seven times—yes seven--times. Johansson became Sweden's first World Heavyweight Champion, thus becoming a national hero as the first European to defeat an American for the title since 1933. This time it was the favorite, Patterson, who was on the wrong side of a beatdown.

1961
“Courage isn’t enough.”—Tom McNeeley after losing to Floyd Patterson
Heavyweight Champion Floyd Patterson defended his title against tough and undefeated Tom McNeeley (23-0). McNeeley, who was a celebrated amateur fighter at Michigan State University where he also played football, was officially decked eleven times in a title bout in 1961 in Toronto before the fight was finally stopped by an overly tentative referee Jersey Joe Walcott. But even in round 4 when the fight was stopped, The game McNeely was fighting back with vicious stuff and had Patterson wobbled a bit.

Re: Best/Worst Beatdowns!
Bowe's ass-kicking of Gonzalez has to be, by far, my most favourite beatdown of all time. That was richly satisfying, on so many levels. I watch it all the time...

Re: Best/Worst Beatdowns!
If you watched William Joppy v Roberto Duran you felt like you witnessed a felony assault. Breland v Honeyghan. Arguello stripping Mancini down to the frame! Emmanuel Augustus v Oliveira was equally one of the most entertaining but disturbing fights/beatings in recent years.

I really thought about putting this fight in the thread.- good call.
Especially when Roger Mayweather in between rounds, looked at the camera and said:
Roger: "I told ya'll he was gonna get his ass whooped ..............................On H... B... O;D

Roy Jones vs Vinny Pazienza
I think it was the first time Compubox scored a round where an opponent didn't land anything.

Yeah. Vinny had that air about him that I wanted to see deflated by about 1,000 psi.
RJJ took care of that in super impressive fashion.

Roy Jones vs. Richard Hall. What a beating Hall took. I have that on VHS.

Vinny had the lamest excuse I ever heard for losing that one: he drank bad cappuccino. Too funny. Said he crashed when the caffeine and sugar wore off.

Re: Best/Worst Beatdowns!
Oscar vs Mayroga was a great beat down. Mayroga talked ridiculous trash about Oscar in the build up (like he does for all of his fights). Oscar landed that monster counter left hook early and stood over Mayorga who had a look of defeat. Classic moment.

LMFAO!
I didn't know that.
I just remember seeing the fight and marveling at how many accurate punches Roy could throw in quick succession.
But I don't think the caffeine and sugar wore off.
I think they were beaten out of him.

Aaron Davis beat him into an unrecognizable mass of hamburger too. Landed everything he even thought of throwing. Paz was always up for sticking his face into a blender.
Had to rewatch John John Molina over Tony Lopez 2. What a thrashing. Oscar Larios v McCullough 2. Nasty.
