This is an Australian Open thread and differences of opinion are most welcome.
I would just like to take this opportunity to say that I think the incredible Andy Murray is going to win the Australian Open as he is really good and has my favourite tennis personality.
Who do you chaps think will win?
Murray has shown a return to form in the warm up events. Very impressive against Nadal.
Still let's see if he is back to his best when it matters. 2014 was really quite poor.
He has a very tough draw (thanks largely to his poor 2014) and would have to potentially beat, Dimitrov, Nadal, Federer just to make the final.
Djokovic is the strong favourite I'd say.
Federer survived a bee sting and still managed to win.
Tough Route for Murray, possibly Federer in the QF, Nadal in the SF and Djokovic in the Final if they all get through.
Will be a good win for him if he lifts the trophy.
Novak is definitely favourite. Federer is also looking very svelte, but I have to say that Nadal looked really bad yesterday. You look at all the thin elite like Murray, Fed and Djokovic and then compare it with the bloated, wheezing Nadal of yesterday going 5 sets with a journeyman. He looked really off and you can't be having 4 hour marathons in the second round. The other 2 are the main threats this year, but I wonder how good Fed still is if taken deep. It's Djokovic I worry about most as he has an engine and the skills.
Murray always starts the first week in a good mood, but then starts moaning in the second week. Hold off on the moaning and self berating, Andy. We wanted Scottish independence too! You can become the new Alex Salmond after you win some more majors! Go Andy!
Federer's turn to work 5 sets or go home in the baking sun. Looking good for Murray! Now if only someone will give that Djokovic guy a workout. :mad:
Murray crooooooooooooooooooooooooooooozing through in his match with only set 3 having to share anything thus far. Boooootiful.
Edit 2: Wow, Federer out. I feel bad for him actually and have no idea why he left that last shot. Why would you when the court is open and your opponent cannot get it back? Fed did that a couple of times in this match. Oh well, one big gun down. A smaller army to face off against.
Dimitrov next up. Wiped the floor with the 2014 spec Murray at Wimbledon. Very tough match.
Never played Tennis. Good on the Radio though. Brilliant stereo field. Best served thru headphones.
Should be a great match tonight and I am really looking forward to it. I thought Murray was done last year, so let's see if he can put some of those ghosts to bed. Nadal is looking much better now too after that 5 round shocker.
Also how on earth can an umpire ask the audience to stay quiet, but never tell Sharapova to put a sock in it? If I was a female player I would just take the piss and impersonate and mock her during a game. Maybe you lose, but you make a point.
Oooh, Murray's toughest match so far and why I am up so late today. Not easy at all, but he ground his way through that tough 4th set well. Hopefully a good rest and then whoever is next. I'm being sly and having a quiet pitcher of beer......don't tell the Mrs! :p

Right, surely Djokovic is going to drop a set today. He barely seems to break a sweat in his matches! Tonight is camomile tea and Novak. Also why does Djokovic have more gray hair than me? Something isn't right there.
Murray is clearly an excellent player and athlete but even at his best I watch him and think there's another 10-15 percent still unlocked within him.
I hope the Aussie kid doesn't beat him, there's only so much air time that kids haircut should receive.

On a side note Murray is possibly the most grumpy cunt on the planet, look at his joy filled face at Christmas ;D;D;D;D

Murray is looking good again. Also a bit shocking to see Nadal thumped as easily as he was. 6-0 second set! Woah! :o
Why is Kyrigos dressed like a highlighting marker pen?
For such a tough draw, Murray isn't doing too badly at all. No more Nadal, no more Fed. But that Djokovic chap looks very healthy. Too easy so far, no chinks in the armour. Also the Nadal crucifier, Berdych looked really, really strong. He is packing not only that serve, but an improved all round game. He doesn't look fun to play against.
Murray with two of the deftest returns of the tournament in this match. Quality.
Well he is through to the semis. Well done Murray.
Murray looked really sharp. Only a bit of a final set wobbler, but fair enough. He's in much better nick than last year which is good to see. He's due a bit of an on court moan though.
Murray bounced back well from that tough first set. What a thrashing in the second set though. I'm going to put on my pajamas and have a tennis feast!
Murray had his chance there. Djokovic as always doesn't know when he's beat. Great set.
Murray looked beaten already.

I am in love with Murray's girlfriend. It turns me on when she swears.
Murray was saying he was fucked at the start of the second set. If he goes two down I think the finish will come very quickly.
If Murray doesn't win 3 sets today I can't see him winning.
