Floyd Mayweather vs. Felix Trinidad.
Who would have won at 147?
-
Re: Floyd Mayweather vs. Felix Trinidad.
Love Tito but Floyd boxes him silly, in my opinion. Faster than Oscar and MUCH better stamina. Horrible match up for Tito. Looks like when Floyd beat the brakes off Chico but with less knock downs and no stoppage.
-
Re: Floyd Mayweather vs. Felix Trinidad.
Gotta go with Floyd. Too fast, too skilled, too smart. Tito's not touching him with that left hook.

This is a joke thread right?

HAHAHAaaaa!
Tito had to cheat with loaded gloves to win.
Look at how little power he had against Bernard.
But loaded gloves won't take you far when you can't even hit your opponent.

Re: Floyd Mayweather vs. Felix Trinidad.
it would basically be a repeat of the winky fight.

Name a fighter that has seriously hurt Bernard.....ever....hell even Kovalev wasn't able to take out an ancient Hopkins, Trinidad never did a Margarito, even Nassim himself said that it wasn't the same situation as Margarito, it was only illegal in NY, and nothing was loaded about them, the type of wrapping style was still legal in Nevada where most of Trinidad's fights took place anyways, this is as relevant as when Floyd used hand injections

Re: Floyd Mayweather vs. Felix Trinidad.
At welter, at his best, trinidad was very very good. He used both hands and hit very hard with each of them. Good jab and moved well, too. He beat up Oba carr with his jab and straight right. This would be a pretty good fight.
-
Re: Floyd Mayweather vs. Felix Trinidad.
Tito decapitates Floyd with a left hook and finishes with a right.
It is not Floyd's best weight to fight an elite welterweight like Tito who would be too big and powerful.
Floyd will present problems early but Tito wold get him in the end.

When has Floyd ever been hit with a flush left hook?
He keeps that right hand plastered to his head. Tito's not hitting him with it, not a chance.

Tito needs one opportunity and when he lands he would finish him. Shane let him off the hook. Tito would not.

Why do you even bother with this pea-brain?

Beanflicker has you here man. Tito may get him but it definitely wouldn't be with the left hook. It just doesn't work against that defense. Shane used proper technique to get him good, good on him. But he certainly didn't let Floyd off the hook. Floyd had taken back control by the end of that very round. Floyd did that. Why do boxing fans insist on making excuses rather than acknowledging what happened?

Re: Floyd Mayweather vs. Felix Trinidad.
Tito was too tightly wound and tall for his own good and I think Mayweathers speed and accuracy..along with his willingness to stink it out...would leave Tito in some bad lurches to get painted. Constantly forced to reset. Tito was remarkable but also had glaring patterns and sketchy footwork vs speed.

Tito was able to dominate people who fell into his traps. No way Mayweather allows Tito to land. Mayweather keeps moving and forcing Tito to reset and Tito doesn't land a significant punch while Mayweather lands at will in the mid to late rounds.
Tito's special hand wraps wouldn't help him since he wouldn't even touch Floyd.

Tito just needed to land once. Oscar knew about the power and he could give it out. Floyd has no power to deter Tito.

Same prediction for me. Floyd will be badly hurt but this fight won't happen during Tito's prime as Mayweather would be too scared to fight him.

Re: Floyd Mayweather vs. Felix Trinidad.
Think Tito would lose because he be fighting a elite boxer he got schooled by Oscar but Oscar got robbed badly. Then with Bernard and Write he lost ever round he can not deal with boxer with speed has no plan be and can be exposed by the top boxers with speed.

Oscar won the middle rounds, lost the later rounds and the early rounds could have gone either way. Also Oscar could hurt Tito and commanded some respect. Floyd would not carry that much respect.
The latter fighters were at a weight above Welterweight.

Off topic, but Oba Carr was a really good fighter who happened to come along at the wrong time. He fought Quartey, Oscar and Tito and came up short vs all three, but gave all three a good fight in losing. I remember Tito beating him the most handily of the 3. I didn't appreciate the 90's enough, but looking back it was much tougher back then. Oba Carr would easily be a titlist these days, if not a unified champ.

Re: Floyd Mayweather vs. Felix Trinidad.
This is a good topic for a thread, if it hasn't been done before. What fighters came along at the wrong time. Which fighters were overshadowed by even greater fighters who stole their thunder during their careers. These guys tend to hover just below the elite level, because they have the misfortune to meet the greatest of their generation. Yes, Oba Carr facing Trinidad, De La Hoya, and Quartey (and losing to them) definitely puts him in that category.

You got there before I did. Its a tale of two Tito's. Shame he fell in love with his power so much and that nobody around him sacked up and let him know it. Double edged sword. It made him his millions and got him international attention but also shortened his career and made him one dimensional.

That's why I said he might get Floyd out of there. But we can be sure it wouldn't be the left hook because of Floyd's style. But in his prime Tito did other things well, he wasn't nearly so predictable like he became as his career carried on.

he only started relying solely on his left hand mainly at 160, at welter he had a very good stiff jab, a good right hand, uppercuts, and obviously the left hook to the body and head, he used both hands and used angles

Carr was a solid fighter but not exactly a defensive boxer. I'm in the minority as I think he actually topped out where he belonged. He lost to some of the best but truth is he also got a couple of fortunate calls with Bramble and Coley. Manny did wonders for the kid but he could be sucked into slugfests with pure boxers and sluggers alike and be frontal. After the Trinidad loss he got an even bigger chip on his shoulders buddying up with Tyson and King

I think yori boy campus was at the top of his game when he fought Tito.

56-0 to be exact.
The KO was brutal, though. Campas never recovered 100% from that loss, IMO.
