If Floyd/Pac get into a slugfest, ala Hagler/Hearns....
....who comes out on top?
This is just hypothetical as I know full well it won't turn out this way.
I will say this though: If Floyd does indeed initiate the action and push Pac back (as he did against Mosley), it will cement his legacy. HOW Floyd wins is almost as important as him winning.

Re: If Floyd/Pac get into a slugfest, ala Hagler/Hearns....
If it somehow turned into a slugfest, it would be purely Floyd's doing. So the answer is that Floyd would win on the exchanges because he wouldn't do it otherwise.

Floyd Mayweather cannot put anybody back Floyd Mayweather only pushes women back Floyd Mayweather needs to pay a lot of money back to women due to abuse against females Floyd Mayweather can i push back his opponent Floyd Mayweather garbage

Re: If Floyd/Pac get into a slugfest, ala Hagler/Hearns....
Floyd comes out on top. He's bigger at the weight and carries it better at higher weights. If Manny stands still and slugs he loses all the power on his punches, loses his angles and things definitely swing in floyds favor.

Re: If Floyd/Pac get into a slugfest, ala Hagler/Hearns....
Manny would win a slugfest which is what Pac Man should try and do to win the fight. Floyd will box and counter punch to victory otherwise.

Re: If Floyd/Pac get into a slugfest, ala Hagler/Hearns....
Now that Floyd's off the juice he doesn't stand a chance.
-
Re: If Floyd/Pac get into a slugfest, ala Hagler/Hearns....
I can't envision Floyd wanting to fight for the sake of it. Pac would have to do like Cotto and bring it to him, but Pac himself darts in and out- He doesn't really bring the fight. He compliments fighters who brings the fight to him.

Floyds treatment of women is horrible and my appreciation of his work starts and ends in the ring but lets not forget manny has cheated on his wife more times than the losses on his professional record (that was Chris and Jahmez..xx) so lets not forget his actions and his hate towards gay people.

Marquez won many slugfest with manny and knocked him into another weight class in their last fight.
Floyd only fights or slugs when he wants to but with manny he will be very sharp and probably the best display of boxing you will ever see if this fight ever happens.
Prince naseem would probably lay manny out in a slug fest.
A great slugger will never beat a great boxer..

Re: If Floyd/Pac get into a slugfest, ala Hagler/Hearns....
I for one will be fascinated to see how Manny handles Floyd's jab. Still having trouble believing this fight will take place but I have been telling myself and posting here that it would happen in 2015. I think lack of ware and tear through the years certainly favors Floyd at this point but despite both fighters being in the sundown of their respective careers it will still be one of the more fascinating shin digs in recent boxing history. It's bound to be a he'll of an event with great undercards and endless rang out betwixt the Floyd nuthuggers and pactards leading up to fight night. I'm looking forward to this with realistic trepidation.

Some good thoughts up there above, but im with you here.
Although theres always the punchers chance,it does happen and the odds are more than just a punchers in this case.

Isnt that what every Floyd opponent tries to do? Id say a different approach would be best.

Why would Floyd do something so stupid? Why, why, why, why?

Re: If Floyd/Pac get into a slugfest, ala Hagler/Hearns....
Doubt it will but if a semi improved fighter moving up and rocked on occasion like Maidana can force a brawl with effect, see no reason why Manny isn't much sharper and sturdy. Mayweather is a great boxer..but ffs he isn't getting into a brawl by choice here. He has been caught with some 'dumb' punches also and out muscled in spots. Not like he is a ghost or something. Not made yet ? But becoming very interested
MAKE THE FOOKIN FIGHT ALREADY YOU TWO

The last thing I would expect to see is Floyd in a brawl, slugfest, all out war, or anything else resembling an out of control fight. That is unless it's outside of the ring. Lol.
I'm not saying he can't be forced into uncomfortable situations on occasion, but it would never be consensual. When Floyd is under heavy pressure, he goes into defensive mode. You are not going to see Floyd exchanging toe-to-toe, wether it's in a corner, on the ropes, or in the middle of the ring!

Naz would lay Floyd out too in a slugfest. Whoomp there it is!

Manny... all day.... Floyd doesn't fire-fight. lol... he just doesn't have that in him. Never have I seen him in a firefight. Well, aside from the firefight he had with Oscar in some moments and the one he had with Emmanuel Augustus, both times he lost the exchanges.
With Manny's power, he will get hurt.

I agree!! Especially about Floyd not having that fire fight mentality and especially not now at the (self imposed) end of his career. It's just not who he is in the ring.

Re: If Floyd/Pac get into a slugfest, ala Hagler/Hearns....
It's not adventageous for Floyd to straight up brawl with Manny, but I do believe he could fight an aggressive countering style like JMM did and I think Floyd would beat Manny if they fight in the pocket. Remember that Manny isn't a brawler or an inside fighter either, he utilizes a ton of movement, in and out, side to side, to get his offence off.

'aggressive countering style' Dude! That's who Floyd is, through and through and all over.
'fight in the pocket' Hell yeah, he's good at it and he goes to the body as well as anyone when he wants to.
Floyd does everything well in the ring, but the thing he does best is stay out of brawls!
It's funny and this is an oversimplification, but it seems like Marciano did his best work when things were on the edge, but Floyd is at his best when he's in total control. The brawler and the control freak, both undefeated.
Boxing!, ugly, beautiful, and vexing!

I wouldn't exactly call Floyd an "aggressive" counter puncher anymore. In his earlier and mid career, certainly.

Re: If Floyd/Pac get into a slugfest, ala Hagler/Hearns....
I thought Floyd had to fight to get his first title against Hernandez. And while Corley isn't a powerpuncher he isn't featherfisted either: Floyd didnt even try to box in that one, that was a very entertaining scrap.
-
Re: If Floyd/Pac get into a slugfest, ala Hagler/Hearns....
The absolute last thing Floyd is going to do is let this turn into a slugfest. Floyd will use that laser right hand to counter everything Manny brings and Floyd's defence will do the rest. I don't think the fight will come anywhere near to the hype it's going to get. I can see Floyd doing a lot of spoiling.

Re: If Floyd/Pac get into a slugfest, ala Hagler/Hearns....
Floyds chin is suspect and untested. It did get tested against zab and mosely, and we saw how he looking when they landed. Pacs chin is battle tested. Floyd doesnt carry the bombs toko pac, but pac does.
Pac ko if they slug it out.....which floyd will not

Yeah tested and it broke, he's been knocked out 3 times in his career. Floyd has taken bombs and has stayed upright every time, and when hurt (like vs Mosley) has always kept his composure and weathered the storm.

Re: If Floyd/Pac get into a slugfest, ala Hagler/Hearns....
this would be the best possible thing that could happen
if it did happen then the fight would be remembered as fight of the century
it would be up there in history with fights like hagler hearns, foreman ali and moore macklin

Re: If Floyd/Pac get into a slugfest, ala Hagler/Hearns....
SRL / Duran first fight SR came out flat footed which pretty much shocked everyone. Watching "No Mas" SR basically said Duran got into his head and that standing flat foooted was a mistake. PBF wants everyone to see his persona as the smart boxer so I doubt he'll make the same mistake. But hypothetically, it would be very satisfying to watch. Floyd hasnt taken much punishment over the years so I think he would have more stamina but it also brings Pacquiao out making it very difficult to predict the outcome.
