Floyd Mayweather vs. Kermit Cintron.
Who would have won back in 2007?
Re: Floyd Mayweather vs. Kermit Cintron.
Kermit. Way too much power for Floyd to handle.
Re: Floyd Mayweather vs. Kermit Cintron.
This is a joke thread right?
Re: Floyd Mayweather vs. Kermit Cintron.
I'd take Cintron on points, to much heart, determination and adaptability for Floyd to deal with.
Re: Floyd Mayweather vs. Kermit Cintron.
Cintron was a beast in those days. In twice with Margarito! Only in Mayweather's worst nightmares would someone willingly do that! And that was in Margarito's concrete fisted prime too! Cintron by wide decision.
Re: Floyd Mayweather vs. Kermit Cintron.
Cintron has hope. As long as he leaves a puddle of tears wide enough, better chance Floyd has of twisting an ankle ???
Re: Floyd Mayweather vs. Kermit Cintron.
Why spoil the thread with some logic. Saul Alvarez was far better than Cintron who could not lay a glove on Floyd.
Cintron was a monster puncher and would have knocked out Floyd clean. :)
Re: Floyd Mayweather vs. Kermit Cintron.
If Floyd tried to lay on the ropes against Cintron he would get his arm broke because Kermit hit harder than anyone but outside of power he was also a boxing genius in the ring.
Re: Floyd Mayweather vs. Kermit Cintron.
Kermit may not have had the right mindset to be a great fighter..... but I'll never forget the KO he laid on Walter Matthysse back in '07. After an action-packed first round, Kermit KO'ed Walter with one of the most vicious one-two combinations I've seen before or since. Walter was already out after the left uppercut (his eyes went cross-eyed). But before he could start falling down, Kermit shot a right hand to the temple that took Walter down like he'd been shot.
Enormous talent, just not the right mentality for the sport.

Like Tito Trinidad, both hands were lethal ;)
Re: Floyd Mayweather vs. Kermit Cintron.
That's probably the only thing they had in common.

Yeah... Kermit wasn't forced to re-wrap his hands before the biggest fight of his career and then come out with no power in his punches.

No power in his punches? Do you have something on which to base that besides "it's just a gut feeling that I have"? Are you not giving credit to Hopkins for having a perfect game plan and not getting caught flush with too many punches? Always beating Trinidad to the punch and moving away as Trinidad was setting up? Are you not giving credit to a savvy old veteran with over 10 years experience in defending his middleweight title against all comers? At a division where Hopkins was a natural at? Did you somehow measure the power of Trinidad's punches before and after the re-wrapping?
Same arguments.... same moronic conclusions.

Excuse me if I'm not completely swept away by your enthusiasm there. ;)
Re: Floyd Mayweather vs. Kermit Cintron.
BTW, I also enjoyed Ivan Calderon's TKO over Noel Tunacao back in '05.
:)

Neither of Calderon's hands were lethal... unless he had a gun in them!
