Amir Khan boxing ability.
How would you rate Khan in terms of pure boxing ability? Is there anyone who can beat him there?
Re: Amir Khan boxing ability.
Khan is talented no doubt. He needed that Alexander fight. It was a terrible match up and made Khan look great but most fighters take fights like that plus he hadn't fought for awhile. The guy can look brilliant but I think he's very beatable and will lose as soon as he steps up the competition. Has there been mention of his next fight. I know his name is still being thrown around with Floyd but I think Khan will lose horribly to Floyd, all due respect to my English friends here.
Re: Amir Khan boxing ability.
Khan is a good stand up European fighter , but its his speed of hand and foot that makes him world class.
Prime Floyd beats him with ease. Danny Garcia beats him easier in rematch,
Re: Amir Khan boxing ability.
A lot of sense has been talked here. Yes, Khan undoubtedly has a lot of talent. (nowhere near as much as he believes however!) He's also brave and would fight anyone if the choice were his.
However, the choice is not his , and I think he has been very carefully matched as to limit his flaws being exposed. in this day and age , this is common place.
Khan looks great if he's allowed to, but you can't put muscles on chins, and I think it's also about his natural reaction when he is tagged that is a problem.
The reason he chases Floyd and Pac is because he could lose and still get big paydays after because everyone loses to them. But if he fought and lost against a Thurman or a Brook , his only options would be as a stepping stone and his pride and ego couldn't cope with that.
I do think he'd have a chance of beating Marquez (I don't see Marquez ever landing the Pac punch again) and although I never used to believe it, but he would stand a chance against Bradley IF Bradley isn't disciplined in his mind.
Re: Amir Khan boxing ability.
No one ever questions Khan's ability... just his chin. lol... and if you get chinned, then it kinda/sorta means you can't have a sustained boxing match.
Tommy Hearns had a chin, but he boxed his way out of many situations.
Re: Amir Khan boxing ability.
Khan has got some great attributes, his boxing ability is pretty ordinary for me.
That said stick a good chin on him and the cunt would be unbeatable.
Re: Amir Khan boxing ability.
His boxing ability is incredible. I think if he had a chin he'd be damn near unbeatable.

Khan has enough heart to fight through a situation, but a great fighter knows how to avoid getting in that situation in the first place.
Re: Amir Khan boxing ability.
Maybe he can meet up with Wlad and get some pointers. Wlad has been dominating with a suspect chin for 10 years now.

The secret is Wlad's great defense and jab. He prevents his opponents from hitting him clean or getting inside, where he's weak.
Re: Amir Khan boxing ability.
Khan has a great jab, I guess now he just needs the great defence part.

Khan should work on his head movement.
Maybe it's just me, but I also noticed in the early rounds of the Alexander fight a couple of times where Khan overreached with his punches. He should work on that as well.

Khan still makes mistakes but less of them. He is a world class boxer with exceptional speed. So he is trying to get big money fights against Floyd and Manny? We all would in his position and he has earned it.
Re: Amir Khan boxing ability.
Another thing that makes Wlad successful, and what made Hearns successful, was that even if you managed to get past their jab and get inside, they had a devastating right hand waiting for you.
Actually, a lot of the Kronk fighters were tall, with great jabs and powerful right hands. Lewis, Wlad, Hearns.

Cant see Danny laying a glove on him in a rematch. Khan wins a wide UD.
But you are right, its his speed that makes him class and witrhout that he has nothing.

I think Khan is B-level, at best. There's really nothing special about him other than speed.

Speed is enough but he is more than that. He is a top class fighter.

Olympic pedigree and experience at the world class level.

No, I mean like technical skills.
Re: Amir Khan boxing ability.
Khan has a lot. Amazing mechanics, balance, a great jab (head and body), a right straight and hook, a fantastic hook to the liver, foot speed, great punch selection... he's a technical marvel, really. His only flaw thus far has been his chin and, by extension, his tendency to get TOO aggressive and end up on the wrong end of a haymaker. He has amazing fluidity, he can throw from any angle and double up on the right hand or a hook like a prime Roy Jones (though, of course, there was only one Roy Jones). The guy's a stud, he's just made some tactical errors over the years and hasn't had the chin to recover from them.
