Sparring partners for Floyd and Manny.
Who would make good sparring partners for Floyd and Manny, to prepare for their fight?

For Floyd- Gary Russell, Mikey Garcia and Amir Khan.
For Manny- Timothy Bradley, Andre Berto and Adrien Broner.

You don't think more than 1/3rd of his sparring partners should be southpaws?

Crawford or Dulorme would be good for Pacquiao.

True. But now that you say it, it makes much more sense. I was thinking about movement and punch output solely.

Replace Khan with Marvin Sonsona.
Re: Sparring partners for Floyd and Manny.
... and if we want, change Mikey Garcia with Vasyl Lomachenko. But I think keeping Mikey would be an added plus, and I think Gary Russell would bring the speed that Manny brings over Lomachenko.
Re: Sparring partners for Floyd and Manny.
I'd pencil in Malinaggi, Errol Spence Jr., casamayor see what trout or lara were doing (if i had favors to cash in) if i was coaching manny. See if JMM wanted to observe. You have to spot those gift wrapped opportunities for counters and close or at least narrow the window.
For floyd - Hard to think of a lot of small fast blitzing hummingbird like southpaws. See if Zabs busy. For pressure, I'd see what Porter, or Brandon Adams were doing. I'm sure he can find some some swarming southpaws in Oxnard, maybe even Japan.

Agreed all the fighters mentioned are too expensive to be used as sparring partners.

I first thought Kahn for Floyd too, just for the fresher speed and movement. I recon he knows how to handle south ok no need to practice for just that.
Besides a top pro would be able to deal up what you want just in sparring.

Floyd knows how to deal with southpaws. He's fought at least six of them: Judah, Guerrero, Ortiz, Corley, Mitchell, and Reggie Sanders. Yes, granted, none of them were as good as Manny, but the point is he has experience against southpaws.
People forget that Floyd fought a southpaw as early as his second professional fight.
Re: Sparring partners for Floyd and Manny.
Pac is going to be a sparring partner for Floyd on May 2nd lol ;D

One of the reasons I think Manny will give Floyd problems is the success Judah and Corley had in their fights vs Floyd. I also feel like Manny will be really up for this fight and fight up to Floyd's level. Not saying Manny wins, just that he will fight his best fight vs Floyd.
Re: Sparring partners for Floyd and Manny.
Well whoever they spar, they have to be quick. Both men are the fastest opponent either has faced So they HAVE to train for speed. I don't really think it matters to much whether Floyd spars southpaws... I think Khan would have been the ideal partner.
Also, I think that their trainers and they, should know enough about their opponents that they can do their best work in training on the pads.

Re: Sparring partners for Floyd and Manny.
Manny is sparring prospects Rashidi Ellis and Kenneth Sims, picked to simulate Mayweather's reach and apparently Sims is keen on using the shoulder roll defence that Mayweather employs.
Re: Sparring partners for Floyd and Manny.
Sure its good to get decent work in and it does not hurt to spar with someone similar in the process but I also think in most cases this is another aspect of the sport blown way out of proportion at this kind of level. Not only that, you are not going to find anyone like Floyd that's not on the Haymon payroll to even get Manny a view up close and guys like Broner for example are not going to help Manny beat Floyd. Manny could learn more by simply watching tape.
For Floyd I dont think he has ever employed specific guys to help him prepare for a contest. If he felt he needed to at this point he could attempt to hire Loma but Arums grip could be to tight. Russell Jr would be good to provide Floyd the speed angle but he has Gonzalez in a month
To prove my point Manny has hired Kenneth Sims Jr. (5-0, 2 KO) and and Rashidi Ellis (13-0, 10 KOs) because Roach liked their look at Wildcard.

I think If Valero was still alive, he might have made a great sparring partner for Mayweather.
