James DeGale v Andre Dirrell
James DeGale set to travel to US for world title clash against Andre Dirrell.
James DeGale’s world title clash with Andre Dirrell is expected to be held in America after Dirrell's team won purse bids for the bout.
The 29-year-old Londoner will battle Dirrell for the vacant IBF super-middleweight belt and promoter Eddie Hearn had hoped to stage the fight at London’s O2 Arena on April 25.
But Hearn was unable to agree terms with Dirrell’s backers, who have since tabled a huge bid of over $3m to stage the bout in America.

Re: James DeGale v Andre Dirrell
Just saw this, great news for Degale

Re: James DeGale v Andre Dirrell
I think Degale might just do it too, he's been looking better and better with every fight in the last year and seems to be over the injury now.
Just hope he boxes and doesn't do that rope a dope shit he seemed to be doing for 3-4 fights in a row trying to goad the opponent into a tear up.
He's so much more effective when he claims centre ring and boxes their head off.
Degale for me has the momentum at this stage in his career and i think he'll be so up for this and train his ass off and i really hope he brings that belt back where it belongs ;)

Re: James DeGale v Andre Dirrell
I heard Dirrel gets to have his voluntary first against Badou Jack which he should win, but isnt a gimme
-
Re: James DeGale v Andre Dirrell
It's the first Andre Dirrell fight I've looked forward to in a few years. Hard to pick a winner.
-
Re: James DeGale v Andre Dirrell
Yes it is a tough fight for both and it may not be an exciting match as both are ultra defensive fighters.
-
Dirrell hasn't faced anyone decent since Froch or Abraham and hasn't exactly looked good either, Degale has stopped his last 3 opponents and looked very impressive.
The momentum at this stage of their careers is firmly with Chunky and I think he's got another gear that we've yet to see 😉
Degale for me probably a points win but I really think he wins this.
I read it's gonna be in Chicago too

I'm sure he will up his game with such significant support.

Re: James DeGale v Andre Dirrell
Great stuff. I mention Dark Horse in the 2015 thread And Dirrell has heard my call! Yes it has been a minute since he fought the best- but he did this his 18th pro fight Cobra & the King. Who else has stepped up that early and the Froch fight could've went his way had it been in the states. Why else did Froch kneel with Andre when the scores were read. Andre learned he had to take the fight and not expect to win on countering.
I'm rolling with the Matrix Baby.;D Great NEWS!

Re: James DeGale v Andre Dirrell
I can't see how degale is going to win this one personally - and even more so with it in the US

Andre won that fight. He landed more, cleaner and harder.

did he fuck
2 rounds at best
you have to fight to win a fight

Re: James DeGale v Andre Dirrell
I used to have such high hopes for dirrell but after the whole Abraham fiasco, he hasn't looked the same. He doesn't look like a world class fighter anymore. He looks more like a decent prospect. I think this fight is his to lose.
-
Re: James DeGale v Andre Dirrell
Hearn loves Degale doesn't he? Ha. He couldn't win a purse bid to get Degale home advantage of $3.1 million. That's about £2m. He's thinking fuck it , give Degale his day in the limelight and a decent payday and that'll keep him happy! No wonder Groves didn't want none of Matchroom, he Sussed out that all Eddie wants to do is suck Froch's plums all day long as far as SMW's are concerned.
Still, Degale probably deserves it, how many promoters has he fucked over now?
-
Re: James DeGale v Andre Dirrell
DeGale has fought better competition recently. You have to wonder if he is OK mentally if he pulled out of the Super 6 because of the Abraham fight. I guess we'll see.
DeGale is making upward of $2 million? That's a big purse. If he beats Dirrell and Groves beats Dirrell, a 2016 rematch with Groves would be monstrous.

Cleaner & harder I agree, but he fought in spurts.

How is that worked out? Don't they split the $3.1 mill? Quite a few ifs in there as well! Big ask for Degale to go to the States and beat Dirrell , especially if he's back to his best.

Honestly Dirrell really stunk the place out and Froch forced the fight to win ugly.
-
Re: James DeGale v Andre Dirrell
They split the purse 50/50. Both these guys are questionable mentally, Dirrell more so. I still think he bottled it against Abraham and took the opportunity to duck out of the fight and the tournament. He's more talented than Ward but mentally not there. If De Gale shows some balls and brings some pressure he can win this.

Re: James DeGale v Andre Dirrell
Once Dirrell gets DeGale out of the way, Dirrell wants to face former IBF champion Carl Froch in his first defense. Dirrell has a loss to Froch in 2009, but Dirrell doesn’t mind giving Froch a rematch because he’s confident that he’ll beat him.
Dirrell feels he was cheated out of a win over Froch in their fight that took place in Froch’s hometown of Nottingham, UK.
“Winning is the only thing I know,” Dirrell said via Fighthype. “I got one defeat; cheated but not defeated against Carl Froch. Once I get that IBF title, if he [Froch] wants to get a shot at getting it back, then I’m right here, man. DeGale first, then Froch. I know I’m going to handle the job,” Dirrell said.

Re: James DeGale v Andre Dirrell
DeGale was most impressive supermiddle in the world last year. I'd back him to beat anyone in the top ten (regard Ward as retired) but think Dirrell is most tricky style matchup on paper.

If Degale boxes like he did at Wembley Stadium on the Froch v Groves undercard then he will win this.
Box being the main word as he's got bags of talent but went through that annoying stage of trying to "rope a dope" everyone into a tear up. i hope that was due to lesser quality opponents and maybe his injury but yeah i totally agree he looked brilliant in his last few fights and just needs to let his hands go in flurries and use his footwork and Dirrell is history ;)

Re: James DeGale v Andre Dirrell
((@Master - it's a well known troll website))
I believe DeGale's injury was deffo a problem for him (also fighting in shopping centres in front of one man and his dog to now being on Sky Sports and fighting on massive cards)
-
Re: James DeGale v Andre Dirrell
De Gale is the underdog for this fight.

Re: James DeGale v Andre Dirrell
I wonder if Andre spars often with his brother who is facing Jack next week. True sparring isn't the same as being active, but I think Anthony will help Andre a good bit.
PBC boxing does a great job at promoting up coming fights within their telecasts- almost 4got this was still on till they promo'd Andre last night..
Good fight.

Forcing the fight is not a scoring criteria

Re: James DeGale v Andre Dirrell
Degale has travelled before so it shouldnt be too bad for him.
-
Re: James DeGale v Andre Dirrell
Andre Dirrell 11/10 James Degale 8/11 with the Irish lot.
-
Re: James DeGale v Andre Dirrell
its a tough one
ive seen dirrell fight 3 times, froch, abraham and someone rubbish
he ran like fuck against froch and was beating AA but it did look like AA would catch up with him until he turned into a massive woman
so i really dont know how good he is
-
Re: James DeGale v Andre Dirrell
The Bookies in Britain have it very even, but I would be really interested in how the American Bookies see it. If anyone over there knows, let us know please.
I reckon they'll have Dirrell probably 2/1 on and Degale about 7/4 against, maybe longer . With home advantage amongst other things , that's how I would see it.

Yes and then dirrell did the gayest thing that's ever happened in a boxing ring
If he had have bummed him it would of been less gay

I see you're an expert on gay and getting bummed.
I respect your experience...but i'm talking about boxing.
Abraham is the one that acted like a bitch by hitting a fighter while down.
Dude had bleeding on the brain.
I bet If Dirrell did that Abraham you'd be calling him an animal.

So he got a neurosurgeon to lie for him.....
WOW
Guy gets hit while DOWN by a murderous puncher....has to sit out with bleeding on the brain....and this hairy bottomed mong thinks he faked it all.

Re: James DeGale v Andre Dirrell
Do you have a link where a neurosurgeon declares that he did? I thought it was bullshit as well, and I was rooting for him to win the fight, which he had been doing. No question it was a bad foul and probably warranted a DQ, but Dirrell seems like a mental case in general.

Don't you guys even follow boxing???
Dirrell was injured by that illegal blow and had to stay out of the ring until he was cleared medically to fight again.
Ya'll spend so much time hating you don't even know shit.
I bet you don't doubt Vitali's injury claim when he quit against Chris Byrd.;D
Ya'll quick to believe him..;)
