What are people thinking about this fight?
Its fights like this that keep me coming back. Its refreshing to see these 2 risk like this. Jermell is on the brink of the big time. Vanes is thinking this gets him back to it. Really looking forward to this one.
I saw Martirosyan talking about never letting his family down again and it got me excited. Those don't sound like hollow "best camp ever" words. Sounds like a man that is ready to give all he has.
Funny I'll be rooting for Charlo but it is Vanes that got me hyped.
Fight like this should be 12 title eliminator of whatever sort? I hope Cotto understands they both take K9's trinket also ??? But hey solid scrap. Taking Jermell over 10. The Charlos just deserve so much more it seems to me.
I think all brothers who look alike and have only one letter different in their names should be forced to fight with the loser retiring, just for clarity. This seems a great match though, I think I've only seen Charlo beat Rosado but could see a similar outcome here. Vanes seems to fight in spurts and have trouble adjusting as well, he never really got around Andrade's jab, and Charlo seems to have a good one as well.
agreed. i honestly can never remember who fought who. i have seen them both fight a handful of times but i never know who is who.
anyways, charlo should win this. vanes is decent but both of the charlos are very solid and i think that both will be the top of the division soon.
Matty is being given the long and hard road. The title fight vs. Andrade could have gone either way. In fact, he knocked Andrade down and was handling Andrade really well.
But, he is a victim of his superior skill and lack of fan appeal. Give him time... I have him over Charlo by a wide UD unless he gets robbed.
Head says Charlo ;) but I'm backing Vanes :D
lolol...
Matty is a PRIME 28. He is coming off of a good win vs. Willie Nelson. He has one technidal draw with Erislandy Lara where the fight had to be stopped on a cut on Matty's right eye in the 9th round of a 10 rounder... He has 37 fights with 21 of his wins by knockout... his only loss is a split decision loss vs. Andrade, the current WBO champ at 154 for that same title... a fight that should have been a draw if not Matty winning by two points on a Majority Decision because it was obvious that the judge (Reyes) was either blind or on the take... the other judges at it 113-114 for Andrade and 115-112 for Matty while Reyes had it 110-117 for Andrade... clearly a judge on the take, without question considering that Andrade was knocked down and didn't get into the fight until the middle rounds...
With all of that being said, Charlo is going to have his first loss of his young career. Matty should be rematching Andrade for that WBO belt, if anything.
stream? :D
All three of them suck!
Nothing exciting but Charlo scraped it :-\ wouldn't argue with a draw ;)
I've liked the Charlos for some time now but frankly not overly impressed last night. Even Jermall stretched the distance vs an undersized club sort in Finney on undercard was meh. Jermell was being out jabbed early by Vanes and looked kinda like a guy reading from a textbook and trying to drive at the same time. Def needs to tighten up and put it together.
Anyone by chance catch that exchange between Vanes and the Dr ? Interested in what Doctor was whispering to him at end and its clear he didn't want Vanes to stop??? Pretty sketchy.
i thought it was a good win. it was a pretty big step up for charlo and he handled it well i think. i thought that he won a close decision. a draw would have been alright but i definitely think that charlo was the better fighter. he just needs to throw a few more punches. i feel like he waits too much. he needs to push the pace sometimes like ronnie shields was telling him to do.
I have heard Vanes was asking out of the fight claiming blurred vision. But it magically healed when the Dr told him he wouldn't support it going to the cards.
There's a lot of parity at the top level in the junior middleweight division. Vanes fought to a draw with Lara. I had the fast this last weekend a draw too. I had Canelo beating Lara, but it was close. Not much to separate the top guys. Julian Williams has looked good. I wonder how he'll do against the top guys.
