Will Floyd rematch Cotto and go for his 6th division title?
With him giving up the belts and a rematch would was potentially talked about for the May date. If Cotto gets through Geale , is there a chance this fight could happen??

I thought the first fight was very entertaining

Re: Will Floyd rematch Cotto and go for his 6th division title?
This fight will happen. There's no way Floyd is going to turn up fighting a guy he already beat for the LINEAR middleweight championship and his 6th weight division title.
They'll say that Cotto is a "new man" and completely "reinvented" under Freddie Roach. They'll play up the fact that Cotto was able to do more damage than Mayweather is used to taking. They'll sell the whole "revenge" angle, with Freddie Roach looking for that elusive win over Mayweather. This is the fight both guys have planned. Floyd had to get by Pac and Cotto took a fight against a credible but beatable 160lber to show that he is a "legit" middleweight.
Who else is there to fight besides Cotto and Khan? Cotto is an easier opponent and gives him the most reward for beating. Floyd's not going to fight a young lion like Brook, Porter or Thurman and there's no one worth fighting at 154 other than Canelo, and nobody is going to buy that rematch.

I had to laugh at the underlined part.
Cotto is far tougher than Khan's fragile ass....Cotto throws and lands....Khan just throws.;D
Kel Brook is a young lion?.....HAHAHAHAHAHAHA
OMG
You must be crazy to call shit like Kel a young lion...the mofo is 30 years old and has a resume that is soft as cotton.

Can't and won't argue with you about Khan, I hope Khan fights Pac and gets KTFO. And Brook is clearly no spring chicken although he isn't 30 , I think he turned 29 the other day, which is probably his prime. But as far as his resume goes, he did come to the states and beat rather handily the guy that everybody was saying was the new "mini Mike Tyson". That's not a bad start to his World Class career and certainly no worse than what Thurman has done for example, yet Thurman is classed as the next big thing as well. ( don't disagree with that btw.)
You can diss Kell if you like, but one thing is for sure, he won't avoid anyone.

Re: Will Floyd rematch Cotto and go for his 6th division title?
Next guys Floyd should be expected to fight:
GGG
Terence Crawford
Keith Thurman
Demetrius Andrade
Tim Bradley
Cotto can still give Floyd hell because he did so in the first fight, but we'll just have to wait and see what happens next.
-
Re: Will Floyd rematch Cotto and go for his 6th division title?
I thought it would have been either Thurman or Cotto till I remembered that Cotto is set to fight Canelo. So I'm guessing it's either Thurman or Garcia.

I disagree khans all risk no reward IMO floyd should stay away from Khan been saying it for around a year now. Khans the only guy who could beat him IMO. He should fight cotto easy win and he gets the real middleweight belt.

Khan can't beat Peterson...Prescott...or Garcia...but he somehow,he miraculously beats Mayweather...;D

GGG is a MW...he has enough smaller fighters on his sad resume...let that coward build his legacy the hard way, like everybody else.
Crawford is not a WW
Bradley....c'mon now.
Thurman is a good call.
Andrade...not so much.

And by the time Crawford becomes a full-blown WW I should think Floyd will have (or should have) retired. After beating GGG, which I think is possible.

Floyd will not and should not fight GGG.
The best money fight for him next would be Khan.
There's lots of negativity towards Khan but name me a fighter that has outboxed khan?
Khan is hungry and a much better fighter under Virgil hunter.
In the 147 division today Khan is the biggest threat to floyd imo as thurman, brook and Bradley will just be like anyone else and fall in line during the fight.
Whether you like him, or don't feel like he deserves a big payday..he has the tools to give floyd something else to think about.

Khan is the same shitty fighter he's always been.
Thurman is the biggest threat to Floyd...not some wobbling keel nosed POS shit like Khan...
Be realistic.

I think I know the sport pretty well I boxed for around 12 years on and off and watch on average 3-4 fights every week, so think I'm able to give a good review, opinion etc on boxing. I do believe Khan could be catching floyd just at the right time his hand speed is a lot faster than floyds, there's nothing wrong with khans accuracy and if floyd can't hurt Khan it could be a very interesting fight and Khan might very well just steal it on punch output. Also thought he beat Peterson and Prescott and Garcia well he got caught by monster shots from know punchers something floyd is not.

I suggest you learn the sport Diaz got power and he might be shot now but the last thing to go is your punch, so a strong puncher rocked Khan but he didn't get him out there or even win. Also khans looking a lot better since he split from roach, khans all wrong for floyd at this stage IMO and styles make fights.

Mayweather still moves and defends better than anybody at WW.
Khan does not have the accuracy, stanima, defense,or heart to beat Floyd.
The ONLY reason Khan is at 147 is because he was kicked out by Peterson and Garcia.
Moving up in weight is how he copes with defeat...;D
He should be trying to rematch Garcia or Peterson.
Garcia's dad clowned the shit out of Khan and his people:
"They can't fight...I ain't never seen one of them peoples that can fight"
hahahahaha
Then his son proves him right by destroying that trash.
Julio Diaz was a shell of himself when he put Khan on his prayer rug.
Diaz was KO'd by light puncher Juan Baby Bull Diaz ages before he slammed Khan's nose off the floor.

I do believe Khan could be catching floyd just at the right time his hand speed is a lot faster than floyds, there's nothing wrong with khans accuracy and if floyd can't hurt Khan it could be a very interesting fight and Khan might very well just steal it on punch output. Also thought he beat Preston and Prescott and Garcia well he got caught by monster shots from know punchers something floyd is not.
I bet Floyd punches harder than a shot to hell Julio Diaz...He had Khan on his prayer rug.;D
Khan has shit accuracy and his defense has more holes than a Texas oil field.
That trash ain't beating Mayweather....stop being emotional.
No garcias dad is a racist arsehole I wouldn't call that clowning. What has Diaz getting stopped by a light puncher got to do with anything ? All I said was he had power and rocked Khan.
Diaz was a shell of himself when he fought Khan.
Pakastani people are VERY racist.
They are like brown-skinned White Supremacists.;D

Brook, Porter, or Thurman even have no chance of winning IMO. Khan might have a chance if he had a better chin.

Khan is a boxing nightmare for anyone and the last time I checked he is undefeated under Virgil hunter.
Choosing Algeri was annoying but he has to fight a puncher before he gets the floyd fight.

To the question and as much as Cotto is almost given a pass because he "is not a real middleweight", does it even count as 6th division for Mayweather. These trinket grabs have become an exercise in half steppin.

Khan will not take any risk at all and will hope he gets the fight by beating Algeri.
