Amir Khan v Chris Algieri - Box Nation
Khan faces a doddle against Algieri
30-3 British star Amir Khan finds himself in a safe bout against former WBO World Light-Welterweight titlist Chris Algieri.

Khan knows that a loss against the New Yorker Algieri would end his daydream of a huge showdown with the pound-for-pound no.2 Floyd Mayweather, and could call time on any world title ambitions he holds - although it must be noted that he refused a career high payday plus "world" title shot against fellow Brit, IBF champion Kell Brook.
The Bolton ace is returning to BoxNation - because Sky wasn't interested in buying this gimme - after scoring a stunning and comprehensive unanimous decision against Devon Alexander in his last outing. On that night, last December, Khan completely outclassed two-weight world champ Alexander at the MGM Grand to further raise his stock with the American audience and push him closer to world title contention - although it must be noted that he refused a "world" title shot against fellow Brit Kell Brook.
Khan has successfully rebuilt his career after suffering back-to-back defeats at light-welterweight in 2011 and 2012, and will enter the Barclays Center ring coming off a four-fight winning streak. The 28-year-old started the run with a comeback win against Carlos Molina before stepping up to welterweight to beat Julio Diaz on his homecoming fight and BoxNation debut.
A highly impressive win over Luis Collazo on the Mayweather v Maidana 1 card followed in May 2014 as Khan returned to the US, before he defeated Alexander last time out.
A win over Algieri would set up the British former Olympic star for a mouthwatering potential September showdown with box office superstar Floyd Mayweather - depending on the the outcome of Floyd's public fan poll.

I blame Floyd and Manny who are the cash cows stopping better fights from happening.

And before that it was Oscar. There's always someone to blame but in the end guys are responsible for their own careers. Khan has had some good fights in his career so I shouldn't be so disappointed in him as with others like Thurman. But to pretend Khans winning streak and upcoming fight are a rebuilding of a fighter is a joke.(not saying you are pretending, just saying) It's only a rebuilding of an image. All these opponents have something in common and it isn't coincidence. But credit must be given that Khan is now exiting at angles, that's progress

Lame fight.
This will be another Khan/Malignaggi.

Good work up bud. Algieri is beginning to remind me of that girl who dated the entire football team :-X. This is a win nothing or lose it all fight for Khan but if he thinks it does anything to get him closer to Mayweather he may be fooling himself. Fortuna v Vasquez may steal the show should hot and cold Fortuna actually make weight and brings the explosives.

You are right as usual, if Khan doesn't win, he will have committed hara-kiri. If Khan could come up with a KO within the first 3 or 4 rounds, he's walking in sunshine.

Re: Amir Khan v Chris Algieri - Box Nation
Nice editing Fenster! I'll probably stay up and watch this one, regardless of the mismatch. I don't think Khan will have a long night.

It could be more like Khan/Salita. Malignaggi has a better chin than Algieri.

He has heart though. Could be fun.
The irony.

True

Re: Amir Khan v Chris Algieri - Box Nation
Algieri cannot punch, so I don't know what he can do to keep Khan at bay. Algieri is fast, has output, is slickish, but Khan has all those things and just seems to have more of those things. I'm not down on Khan anymore, but I still want Algieri to win as I like an underdog.

Re: Amir Khan v Chris Algieri - Box Nation
Fortuna's lack of discipline may be he biggest downfall..and slugging like a dummy when he shouldn't. Guzman like
Something is going to explode here :angryxo4: Vasquez may be turned into David Diaz :-X
-
Re: Amir Khan v Chris Algieri - Box Nation
Both fighters swingning wild and wide
-
Re: Amir Khan v Chris Algieri - Box Nation
2-1 Fortuna for me thus far
-
Re: Amir Khan v Chris Algieri - Box Nation
This is very fun, indeed!
-
Re: Amir Khan v Chris Algieri - Box Nation
PBC with Lara v Delvin Rodriquez. Is this really why they sacrificed FNF :-X Fortuna looks intent on upping the flow here but careless
-
Re: Amir Khan v Chris Algieri - Box Nation
I was expecting more from Vazquez. He looks tired already
-
Re: Amir Khan v Chris Algieri - Box Nation
Fortuna has outworked Vasquez big time. I have him way up.
-
Re: Amir Khan v Chris Algieri - Box Nation
I got it 5-3 Fortuna.. disagree with Farhood definitely thought Vasquez won round 7.
-
Re: Amir Khan v Chris Algieri - Box Nation
Fortuna is a frustrating one when he goes poor mans drunken master, lets himself coast. But cannot see it close. 7-2 max. Vasquez thick but has been moving like he is made of wood
-
Re: Amir Khan v Chris Algieri - Box Nation
7-3 Fortuna now.. Vasquez will need some KD's
-
Re: Amir Khan v Chris Algieri - Box Nation
That was one ugly round 11...9-9 ???
-
Re: Amir Khan v Chris Algieri - Box Nation
A decent fight, but it got a bit predictable in the end. Vasquez really ran out of steam and ideas.
-
Re: Amir Khan v Chris Algieri - Box Nation
116-112 at end Fortuna. Vasquez with 11, 12th. It's my default reaction to score against a guy running backwards and raising his hands
-
Re: Amir Khan v Chris Algieri - Box Nation
Yes, fair enough raising your hands at the end, but for pretty much an entire minute? That is taking the piss a bit. People have paid to see you do a job and you are putting your feet on the desk with 20 minutes until home time!
-
Re: Amir Khan v Chris Algieri - Box Nation
Had it 116-112 as well, good the judges got it right too
-
Re: Amir Khan v Chris Algieri - Box Nation
Amir Khan talking about his love of the Queen. I hope Algieri does a number on him.
-
Re: Amir Khan v Chris Algieri - Box Nation
Say what you want about 15 minutes expired Algieri...but Jackson in a corner is a tremendous plus
Please god hope this doesn't turn into a fencing competition
-
Re: Amir Khan v Chris Algieri - Box Nation
On the point of the chinny chin chin ;D for Khan

Re: Amir Khan v Chris Algieri - Box Nation
Algieri size surprises me. I wasn't expecting him to be the bigger man
-
Re: Amir Khan v Chris Algieri - Box Nation
Algieri looks really big in there, but kind of following Khan around too much. He should throw punches like he said he would, not shell up and throw hail mary's.
-
Re: Amir Khan v Chris Algieri - Box Nation
I gave Algieri the first. Not convinced Khan fighting the right fight if he wants to sell himself to Floyd. He won the 2nd though.

I'm shocked he's walking in like a wide shoulder bomber.

Re: Amir Khan v Chris Algieri - Box Nation
How many rounds so far?
Also, is there any radio commentary to link to?
