Frampton to make US Debut
Re: Frampton to make US Debut
Sweet! The fight is taking place in my hometown, I'm definitely going to be there!
Re: Frampton to make US Debut
He ducked Quigg and 1.5m for this. Nice.

Both ducked Rigondeaux.
Re: Frampton to make US Debut
Interesting that this takes place on the same night as Quigg-Martinez. Hopefully they both win and stop fucking about and fight each other.

To be fair, it is hard to duck someone you've called out for years.
Funny Quigg wanted nothing to do with Carl until he won a title.

If they both think they can win just make the fight.
Re: Frampton to make US Debut
Frampton is a good fighter, but so is Quigg the avoided guy is Rigo he is the top man in the division,
if you can beat Rigo you are the man.!

Frampton is the proper champion, is the infinitely bigger draw and would be travelling to England for the fight and Hearn is treating him like a Mexican roadsweeper. There was never a chance of a deal without Hearn doing a co promotion with McGuigan and Frampton getting at least 50% of the promotional pot, not just a cheque while Eddie makes a bundle. Hearn must have known the deal would never be acceptable but the big cheque looks good in the papers and hides the fact that it's Quigg ducking Frampton.
(Neither guy is scared of fighting the other, Hearn just doesn't want to let McGuigan have any part of the pie and Frampton feels he is quite rightly the main attraction and deserves to be compensated accordingly.)
And who is Frampton fighting anyway? Has this guy been on the telly before?

Yes he was on songs of praise.
Re: Frampton to make US Debut
As long as it is on ITV does it really matter?

Hold up a second... Frampton won a belt from a man he had already ironed out. The only proper champ in this division is Rigo.
Team Frampton wanted a 70-30 split to fight Quigg.
Team Quigg offered a 60-40 to the winner split. Refused.
Team Quigg then pulled the stunt of offering 1.5m. Refused. (obviously Eddie knew young Carl was never gonna make close to that in any subsequent fight and was just chinning out Barry McGuigan in public).
Frampton then accused team Quigg of low balling and revealed that he thinks the fight is worth 12m. Eddie reveals that neither Carl or Barry ever attended the meetings they scheduled. Then Carl signs with Al Haymon to fight mexican road sweeper in Texas with no British TV deal in place.
That about sums it up.
Re: Frampton to make US Debut
It will be on ITV, he has a contract with them.
Barry is bringing boxing back to the people.
Re: Frampton to make US Debut
This is a pathetic opponent. Let's just be honest. I'm hoping the idea is that Frampton will face the LSC/mares winner in his following fight. Not as good as Quigg, but still a fine fight.

McGuigan has a different story. He says initially they came to an agreement that it would be a co-promotion. Then all of a sudden it was just a straight money offer, no co-promotion. Then Hearn did the £1.5 million stunt.
Frampton can't make anything like that money fighting anybody else but neither can Quigg (or Hearn). Quigg is now fighting a guy Frampton beat twice while Frampton goes off to try and become a star in the States, the fight with Quigg obviously being a non-starter now.
I think Frampton has half his fights over there and half in Belfast where he's a big seller and makes as much as he can. If the Quigg fight happens it'll be on Team Frampton's terms at lease to some extent.
Re: Frampton to make US Debut
Yeah so the fight didn't happen because of Barry. At least now Al is involved there's a chance it will (Al and Eddie love matching their fighters).
Quigg is fighting the Binman's leftovers and Frampton a Mexican road sweeper. Nice.

The fight is a big money maker because of Sky PPV. Frampton can fight roadsweepers in Belfast and make as much as he'd make from a stadium fight against Quigg. The PPV is the crucial thing and Hearn has a lock on it, and he's using that fact to maximise his position. And you can't really blame him for doing that. You also can't blame McGuigan for turning it down. But it's not a duck.
Re: Frampton to make US Debut
Im pretty worried that Kiko ices Quigg and then there is no super fight for Carl. Not much in the div and not all that much below. Plenty at feather weight but not sure how good Frampton would be there. Really hope McGuigan hasnt blown his chance of making big money.

Exactly. Barry can't compete with Matchroom so we have no fight. He is Frampton's manager as well as his promoter. Even Frank Warren said he's nuts to refuse the deals he was offered
Re: Frampton to make US Debut
Are these guys going to fight Rigo at some point or is that a pipe dream because i like to see the guy gets fights he is the man at the division and seems have GGG problem. I guess they should move up but when you make weight easy and its your weight class it kinda balls to move up really.

He may well be but he obviously feels £1.5 million isn't fair. Maybe part of signing with Haymon is to give them more leverage when negotiating with Hearn because it's the money fight for both fighters and should be made but Barry wants what he thinks is a fair amount and it's his job as manager to get the best deal for his fighter. I don't think the fight is worth anything like twelve million though.
