Lyle v Foreman is a proper slugfest - man slugging 😉
Love that fight and lost count of the amount of times I've watched it!
Ron Lyle vs. Earnie Shavers
Just count the punches {'bombshells'} that landed.
Wow what a fight! 8 ounce gloves. Mental power and no skill.

perfect 'Bombshell Body in 1963."

George Foreman could knock out an Amtrak train.
I was going to say Toney/Jirov but I believe that was actually cruiserweight.
Corrie Sanders v Hasim Rahman was fun. Alex Stewart v Ezra Sellers is one of the best heavyweight wars I've ever seen.
We all know the Vitali vs Lewis and the Bowe vs Holyfield fights were kind of unbeatable in terms of action and excitement.

Another shout out for what must have been the top of the food chain in this category. Unfortunately no film exists but on a damp foggy evening in France in 1909 the world saw Jeanette vs McVey/McVea 3 in a fight to the finish. In all accounts I have come across, it delivered.

Round 15... Norton vs. Holmes... June 1978
One of the best Round 15's of all time... and quite a slugfest with everything on the line.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IupyEYB-27c
Not heavyweight but Holyfield vs Qawi was amazing.
Ernie Shavers vs Tex Cobb was a doozie.
Was Bert Cooper vs Ray Mercer mentioned? Mercer won with a balloon jaw....this was a hellatious scrap!!
Moorer vs Alex Stewart was pretty entertaining among with the Cooper fight called here.
Bert Cooper is why I made that journeyman thread awhile back. An up and comer had to walk through fire if Cooper was the opponent.
Lennox Lewis vs Ray Mercer
Larry Holmes vs Ken Norton
Norton vs Ali
Ali vs Frazier 1&3
Tua vs Rahman 1
Holy vs Bowe (all of them)
Holy vs Tyson
Holy vs Dokes

Earnie Shavers vs. Roy 'Tiger' Williams
More action in Round 10, than any Round in the George Foreman vs. Ron Lyle bout.
That's a Fact.

Foreman had a few of them Lyle being the best one i think of his career those guys tried to kill each other also Copper i think i spelled his name wrong always had exciting fights. Holyfeilds fights with Bowe were pretty fucking great those guys did not have a stop button in there fights really.
Too one-sided maybe but I love Briggs-Lewis.
Been a while since i watch that fight did Briggs hurt Lewis at all in that fight i just remember the beat down and finish by Lewis but i might have to go back and watch it again. You know the heavy weight slugfest most of the time ended faster then any weight class most of the time anyhow.
Good calls in here. Two more obscure ones I like are Derick Jefferson-Maurice Harris, and Courage Tshabalala(however it's spelled) vs Darrel Wilson.
Tommy Morrison had a couple with Ruddock and Joe Hip as well, those were brutal fights. Also Corrie Sanders vs Rahman was a shootout.
Sanders fight is a good call man that shot Rahman hit him with was fucking would killed most people. That would also lead up to the biggest upset i think in that time frame with a win over Lewis. Thats the thing of heavies man no matter the talent a guy 220 plus hitting you right and goodnight dude or thats all she wrote. I mean Lewis is always given shit for those loses but he did avenge them and has one of best resume's at Heavyweight i rank that dude even higher then Mayweather i think he is most underrated fighter of his time really.
No you're right, I think it was all in the first round but Briggs came out bombs away and did hurt Lewis legit at least once, which made the rest of the fight stay interesting. That was his fight right after getting the questionable win over Foreman, I think Briggs knew he didn't have a shot to box him and so to his credit came to make it a war.
