Big fight for me on saturday!!!
I am taking on a 6 foot 3 unbeaten southpaw lol. Hes 4-0 but hes had amatuer fights when he was a bit younger as well. I sparred the last guy who I boxed who was a southpaw, the former professional who I found out had over 200 amatuer fights and boxed for the Turkish national squad. Also I have been sparring with former professional Lee Crossland and both were impressed with me. My fitness is spot on, feeling fit and ready for it...I just need to give it 110% on the night. Im going to his hometown in Huddersfield so its going to be a tough ask, but theres no pressure on me that I should get a win. However Ive got pressure on myself that I want this win so much and I lost my last fight and I dont intend on making losing a habit.
Im also fighting the friday after that in Liverpool and the week after that in a hometown show in Southport. Both these fights wont be as hard as the first one but still challenges.

You are doing great with this boxing career, Tam. You are proving that when someone sets their sights on something they jolly well can and you are doing it the hard way too by fighting awkward types at different weights. You have a good mindset in that loss makes you hungrier. It's old school.

Cheers mate, Ive never taken an ass whooping and every fight has been a learning curve for me. Ive only ever lost by the closest of margins and a few of them were debatable as well. Im more motivated than ever now Im boxing at 13 stone and ready to crack on with some great fights. Cant wait for saturday, just a bit of a shame hes a southpaw. The other two opponents are orthodox though so that should be better for me.
Re: Big fight for me on saturday!!!
Not another southpaw. What are you playing at?
Avoid those mutants they have an unfair advantage.

Didn't find out till the week before the fight ! I've had better preparation for them this time though.

I'm no pro, and I'll probably get laughed at, but my mindset would be that in the mind of that southpaw, you're unorthodox, if that makes sense. Give it your best bud. :)
We are friendly now, don't see any point in a rematch. I'll learn more from sparring with him.

All the best young man. Punch straight, keep that chin down. Keep your lead foot outside his and move to your left. You already know based on experience that he will key in on getting you to move the other way.
Wear ear plugs. The construction floor type so you can still hear the team. Pop them out when the ref calls you to the centre for instructions. I cant imagine the hostile crowds for these encounters. I'd fold like a Walmart lawn chair.
Re: Big fight for me on saturday!!!
Lost on points guys. It was my toughest fight to date. Start off at the weigh in I was told be 13 stone and he weighed in at 13 stone 7 which didn't help at all. He had a 4 inch height advantage and very long Southpaw reach. He kept me on his jab and I couldn't get my punches off. He was too awkward to hit and controlled the fight from the off. Never been like that in a fight before where I couldn't really throw. He won all three rounds.
On the positive side though. I've not got a mark on me. My defence was really tight and I didn't get hit much at all. He just landed more and I didn't throw enough to score. Was too hard I put my hands up and can say I didn't enjoy that at all was very frustrating.
But that fights in the past now, I won't have fights like that very often. I'm back in the ring Friday and you will all hear of a big performance from me I can promise you that. Same with the week after. Two home fights against orthodox fighters , I'll be back to winning ways. This hasn't knocked my confidence at all, it's just made me more hungry to win and fight people my size and not southpaws.
Re: Big fight for me on saturday!!!
Good to stay positive, move forward and on wards.
Re: Big fight for me on saturday!!!
Well done!
Im 5,9 and had to fight a lad who was 6,5" in my 5th fight and he had 30 odd! I felt like a little kid, couldnt really do much. I did however have a rematch with him about 10 figts later and did much better, although still lost on points. He told my coach after he found it much more difficult to box me because I was moving my head alot more and working my way in under his punches.
