He needs Roger Mayweather or Floyd Sr. The guy can't fight going backwards and he needs to learn how to do that if he's going to fight at a higher weight, maybe learn how to jab? He also shouldn't be fighting above 140. In the 3 times he's done it, he's struggled. 135/140 should be his home now. He also needs someone to reign in his dickhead personality and get him to knuckle the fuck down. I hate it when ill discipline stops a fighter reaching potential.
Wasn't Broner's trainer on his ass most of the fight? I remember him screaming at Adrien "YOU'RE FIGHTING THE WRONG FIGHT!"

To be fair to his trainers though, a lot of times a guy learns new tricks in the gym and just reverts back to his old ways in the ring. Some guys never seem to listen to their corners: they get good advice between rounds and just trudge out and do the exact same thing they've been doing and fall further behind.
Broner's a strong personality and has an ego second to only Mayweather. He's probably one of those dolts too arrogant to take the advice. Problem is, he doesn't have Mayweather's ring IQ to go figure shit out on his own.

I like Broner in a way because he's entertaining. However, he needs to drop back to 140 and find his identity in the ring. He might need a different trainer too to work with him. I also don't think he needs a defensive specialist. I think he's most successful when he is offensive. Maybe a Robert Garcia or a Nazim Richardson. PBC also needs better matchmakers. Maidana conclusively beat up Broner and then they match him with another tough, brawler in Porter. He should have stayed at 140, and fought someone like Algieri, and continued to rack up wins. Perhaps though he's just been overrated all along, and it was just a matter of time.
It's a good thing Broner didn't pursue a team sport that requires coaching (basketball, football, baseball), or else he would have been run out of the league.
See I agree he is most effective when offensive but thats the problem (excuse the pun). He has no plan b and when a fighter who only knows forward and is stronger than him comes at him, he has no clue what to do. He needs a better defense and he needs to learn how to fight goin backwards. If he could have learnt how to punch when Porter came in, he'd have softened him up to the point where Porter wouldn't want to come forward anymore and then he could have played his game.Quote:

Can he make 140lb? He looks too big boned to do that and at welterweight he is not skilled enough to beat the brawlers.
