How many points should Broner have got deducted?
besides Muhammad Ali and flat Amir Klitschko I can rarely remember a boxer who used his arms like iron vice grips on an opponent hundreds of times in a fight the way Adrien Broner did against Shawn Porter. with all due respect I felt that Adrien Broner look like an absolute clown in there he did not look serious and I suspect he seriously might have some type of mental deficiencies because he behaves as if he is fighting like Floyd Mayweather but he is not throwing any punches whatsoever and he is still acting the clown in there while getting beat and humiliated the whole time. The amount of fear that he shows on his face and the fearful way in which he often fights is another sign that this profession is not what he should be pursuing at this time. I think Adrien Broner would be a great basketball player and maybe even a great track star but boxing is simply not his strong suit. My personal opinion is that he should retire from the sport of boxing because not only is he a disgrace to the sport but he simply is not good enough to generate any more attention from any boxing fan with half a brain

If the ref was truly on his ass, he could have easily been DQed IMO. There was a lot of shameless hugging, vice grip on the arms, it really was a shit show.

I do not like the OP's racist characterizations.
With respect to the topic at hand, however, Weeks, who is usually a solid referee, did a horrible job that night. If he had taken a point after the first warning, the fight might have gone a different and better direction. Instead, Broner turned it into a poor fight to watch. We need to keep an eye on Weeks when he referees PBC events going forward to see if he favors the A-side. Is this the same fight where Adeliade Bird had it close too? Let's keep an eye on her as well.

I had no problem with just the 1 point in all honesty. When I guy jumps in with the head as much as Porter does sometimes all you can do is hold. Broner holds more than most I agree, but Porter got away with stuff too. Weeks likely thought that the point deductions were pointless as Broner was losing pretty clearly anyway.

This is a fight that needed good old Jack Reiss. He knows how to take control of a fight. I loved when he took 2 points away from Ward and Rodriguez for holding and not breaking when he told them to break, so one more point would be a DQ. The rest of the fight was much better after he did that.
I guarantee you Reiss would have deducted points from Broner very early and it would have been a much better fight, not the shit-show that transpired.

No points should have been taken. Id be much quicker to take points off the wild fighter coming in throwing wild punches to back of head and kidneys. Remove holding and it just turns into a messy street fight. If you want to be strict about holding you need to be strict about use of the head even if its accidental.
