Who do you want to see Hopkins end his career against?
So B hop has said he is having one more fight and it's going to be against a good name. Who do you want to see B hop end his legendary career against?

Re: Who do you want to see Hopkins end his career against?
Adonis Stevenson! The old man has always shined against southpaws, and Stevenson is about as left handed as a fighter gets, and with a dodgy chin to boot. It wouldn't totally surprise me if Hopkins were to own that fight, should it happen, and it would be an incredible last hurrah.

Re: Who do you want to see Hopkins end his career against?
Ive been a Hopkins fan all along but especially since I met him & Bouie when I was with Quincy Taylor who was defending his WBC middleweight title against Keith Holmes on a Tyson undercard & got blatantly robbed by Richard Steele. Knowing Quincy was down about being robbed Bernard came to him & said. " Don't let it get to you you & me are the two best MW in the world we need to get it on" I forget who Bernard was fighting but he won easy. Had a long chat with Nard & Bouie both were great guys.
Really I'd like to see Bernard retire now He's got nothing else really to prove to anyone he is a boa fide ATG We'll never see his like again. I know his pride wont want him to go out on the loss to Kovalev bt is pride worth risking his health Bernard is one of the very best

Truthfully, I'm not that interested in Hopkins. That's a turn around for me because I used to have a healthy dislike for him. Now I'm just disinterested.

Awesome story/experience with Hop/Bouie. I think Brother Naz is a great trainer, but I dint think he had the connection/impact on Hop that Bouie did. It killed me to see those two squabble over money.
I was a HUGE Quincy Taylor fan. He had great skills and was a solid fighter. Think that knee injury made him old before his time...
Hop is one of, if not my favorite fighters ever. He has scored numerous upsets and the only guy I see having a solid argument to be ranked ahead of him from his generation is Floyd. That being said, I think Hop should retire now. The Kov fight proved he was done at the elite level.

Re: Who do you want to see Hopkins end his career against?
I can't respect hopkins over the last decade.
He hasn't come to fight and had bored crowds on his way to tactical and dirty wins.
He hasn't had a stoppage on roughly 10 years and doesn't exactly dazzle with skills.
He has tarnished his legacy a lot and will be remembered by me as "that old guy that wouldn't go away" instead of "legend middleweight".
-
Re: Who do you want to see Hopkins end his career against?
B hop will always be a legend in my eyes and your comment hasn't made any sense. B hop has had some Stella and outstanding performances throughout his career. Holds the record for middleweight title defences and moved up to light heavyweight to become a two time champion at an age where most people would have been long retired. I love watching b hop fight, from a sheer technical perspective. He's an outstanding fighter, I will miss him greatly.

Yes yes and yes. He fights at the highest level and gives us a thrill with the "can he do it again?"
He's the fucking man and proved how tough he is against Kovalev.
Let him school Adonis or at least try!

To be honest , I used to think that he shouldn't get any favours because he's old. If he wants to be classed as a World Champion, he should fight the best.
To his credit, he had the balls to do exactly that, taking on Kovalev when People like Stevenson don't really want to. Ok , so he lost, but at least he got in there.
I understand this way of thinking about not liking people if they're not KO merchants, but I don't subscribe to it. However, not respecting their achievements is a completely different thing, and that I don't understand.
the way I see it , is that if he is boring crowds with tactical and dirty wins, it is up to the opponents he faces to stop that happening, like Kovalev did. it's all well and good saying he should entertain, but that's Bollocks really.
What winners do first and foremost is WIN! everything after that is a bonus.
For his last fight, I personally would like to see him fight Froch. I reckon he beats Froch , as he has too much ringcraft, and furthermore I firmly believe Froch at best is a bit worried about that and at worst Knows it!

Meh I thought it was a good stoppage against Holmes, and Quincy won the title off a washed up Hawk anyway.

Hopkins v Stevenson or Froch would be good, the only problem is if he wins he will carry on.

Re: Who do you want to see Hopkins end his career against?
Kovalev was the most comprehensive one sided defeat he has taken and it took 65 fights for it to happen against one of the toughest mo fos in the sport today. Hopkins has zero to prove and like him or not is one of the most evolved and adapted boxers over the years. He squeezed every ounce of ability and skill out of mind and body to repeat success over and over. Hopkins. Legend. Fact!
He can do whatever he wants to do, but as a fan I'd like to see him hang the gloves on the ring post, find a couple of top prospects to sponge his mind and await his trip to Canastota.

Meh I thought it was a good stoppage against Holmes, and Quincy won the title off a washed up Hawk anyway.
Quincy fought & TKO'd Julian Jackson with a torn ACL. I was there when Jose Suliaman saw Quincy limping around after KO'ing Raphael Williams. Theyd stalled Quincy on a title shot for ages. Suliaman offered him the title shot KNOWING Quincy did not have time for surgeryon the knee. He was hoping Quincy would have to turn it down & as the injury was not boxing related Quincy might not ever get another chance
As for the Holmes fight Quincy had had surgery but his knee was still numb but he never told anyone > Holmes caught him with a shot & his knee let him down. He was up & ok Holmes thinking he'd hurt Quincy attacked .throwing wild shots & Steele stepped in & stopped the fight. Now I sat with Quincy & watched a tape in slow motion & of all the shots Holmes threw only ONE scored hitting Quincy a glancing blow the others were all blocked or missed. Steele was Don King's ref Who managed Holmes? Don King's stepson Carl need I say more. Quincy never got a chance to rematch Was a blatant screw job.
Oh & BTW Bernard Hopkins promised Quincy he'd get Holmes for him He did too didn't he LOL

Re: Who do you want to see Hopkins end his career against?
A tomato can, he has nothing to prove, he's too old and cant pull the trigger against the youngsters. He really doesn't need to fight anymore, I would like to see him become a trainer though. Give some gatekeeper a payday and ride off into the sunset. This should just be an appreciation fight. Fucking guy is 50...he needs to find some hobbies or something.

Re: Who do you want to see Hopkins end his career against?
Adonis Stevenson – My pick would be Adonis. I still think it’s a winnable fight despite the beating Kovalev handed the old man. Styles make fights and Hop would be a nightmare for Stevenson to look good against because Stevenson waits for mistakes and Hopkins makes few if any. It would be a high quality chess match & although Stevenson deserves to be a favourite the result is no formality & Id like Hopkins to be given that opportunity having faced all the other tip light heavys of the last decade. Superman isn’t invincible as we saw vs Fonfara & B-Hop is the master of breaking a fighter down mentally and making them question themselves. Love to see this fight
Carl Froch – Still intriguing but not as much. You could make a case for it being two legends in a farewell fight but as a spectacle I don’t think Carl would want to exit the sport
Andre Ward - Very unlikely to happen not only because neither guys wants it but because it wouldn’t sell.
Gennady Golovkin – Im sure Hopkins would love to ruin another hype train & wouldn’t be scared to take this challenge but 2 weights separate them and team Golovkin wouldn’t see much to gain in this fight. I think it would go the same way as the Kovalev fight & a legend like Hopkins doesn’t deserve to go out like that thrown to the wolves.
James Degale – Not sure how much it does for either guy so again its unlikely to happen but it would be the biggest name Degale is ever likely to get a win over. Given his quiet spells against Dirrel I could see Hopkins hypnotizing him and it going to a close call on the cards and I rate James but think it’s a bad style match up for him. Hed have to beat Hopkins th same way Joe did but he isn’t as busy as the Welshman.
Roy Jones decider – The 2nd fight was bad enough to sit through and nobody would want a 3rd so I cant see it happening but if both legends called it their last fight and its currently left a 1 all I think a decider would have some value.
James Toney – This fight should have happened and it still can albeit as shadows of what they once were. Almost 2 decades past it sell by date I think if people knew these two were going at it then it would bring in the viewers and still has some appeal but Hopkins wants to go out with a bang and this would be a whimper.
