Mosley vs. Mayorga II set for Aug 29th in LA
Mosley-Mayorga Rematch Set: Shane Vows Brutal KO! - Boxing News
I know they're both past their best but this might be fun. Mayorga is always entertaining and the first fight was decent.

No. Bad. It was bad enough when Mayorga was being shipped in as just a rebuild win for guys who mattered but this is an equal who cares??? Names alone..substance zero.

They do. There has been a trend lately of older boxers who want to come out of retirement and fight. I used to say don't let them fight for their health, but if they pass a medical and fight each other I don't see what the problem is because there is a market for legends to fight each other.
The fight is at 154lbs. It's refreshing to see 2 guys who haven't made weight in quite some time not request a catchweight fight.

Re: Mosley vs. Mayorga II set for Aug 29th in LA
They should both come to fight so there could be nice action. Both are decent gatekeepers for up-an-comers.

I dont think so. Mayorga has said that Mosleys ex told him Mosely was cheating at that point and you only have to look at the energy he had in the last round after being bullied, pushed round and punched for most of the fight.

Re: Mosley vs. Mayorga II set for Aug 29th in LA
This is a very strange fight. Mosley is getting punchy and I can see Mayorga winning this. Maybe even by stoppage.

If he does maybe we see Pacquiao v Mayorga;D
Or De La Hoya v Mayorga 2;D

Re: Mosley vs. Mayorga II set for Aug 29th in LA
They must be broke, I used to be up for any Mayorga fight now matter how outclassed you knew he was gonna get. Just for the trash talk. Now it's just not convincing enough, its like a old man in a wheelchair with no arms saying he's gonna whoop your ass.

Mayorga doesnt have the speed or snap on his punches anymore to really even trouble Mosely who looked shit against Mumdine but Mundine is much bigger. Or was Mosley being tested?
Has Mayorga stayed in shape since the two minor comeback fights last year? He wasnt even in shape for them, the second one in December he weighed 173lb.
It will be interesting still but I love Mayorga and would like to think hes going in giving himself a genuine chance rather than just happy to be there.

Re: Mosley vs. Mayorga II set for Aug 29th in LA
I don’t have a problem with this fight. If they were feeding either guy to a prospect id think they were coming back for the wrong reasons but this is a rematch of a good fight with a brilliant ending so let it be.
I’ll be surprised if Mayorga makes 154 though. Last time we saw him was years ago up at super middle weight vs Vargas. Last memory of Shane was when he quit vs Mundine which was out of character and signalled the end. Sounds like he’s abit bitter about something, with the no more mr nice guy talk and if he isn’t riled now he will be once the press conferences with Mayorga start who has been in some of the most memorable Ive seen.
Fight itself will be messy like the 1st was but in the end Shane managed to outslug the slugger and nailed him to the canvas. Theres no reason to believe why anything would be different this time round if they’ve each declined equally. If Mayorga eneters the ring with a massive weight advantage as I suspect he will then I could see him lasting the distance. Shanes already said he wants a brutal KO so I cant imagine him being on his toes trying to box this one when he knows already he can outfight Mayorga Another ending I can see is an injury stoppage as often happens when two guys this age come out of retirement. Shanes suffered with Ankle issues and Back problems in recent years

Re: Mosley vs. Mayorga II set for Aug 29th in LA
Mosley is claiming that he'll be setting a new world record by having father and son fighting on the same card for the first time, but Oliver McCall has done it, Macho Camacho has done it, Butterbean has done it, and Rocky Mosley has done it!

Ricardo Mayorga
41 1/2 year old 'smoker'.
Who is promoting this bout.

Re: Mosley vs. Mayorga II set for Aug 29th in LA
Mosley managed to lose to Mundine two years ago. I don't want to see this one either. Is this on the Mares-Santa Cruz undercard?
-
Re: Mosley vs. Mayorga II set for Aug 29th in LA
Yeah, and Shane QUIT against Mundine, something he never would have done when he had decent form. This fight will come down to who is in worse shape and wants it less, I don't see the point.

LOL!, First fight was a stinker up till the last minute of the last round- and they were in shape for that one.

First fight Mosley was getting mauled.
I could see from that had it been the mental super fit Mayorga that beat Forrest that Shane wouldnt have coped with Mayorgas power, strength and relentlessness. Mosely just gets hit too much, Mayorga was an animal at welter back then.

Re: Mosley vs. Mayorga II set for Aug 29th in LA
Was Shane losing the fight before the stoppage?

The bout was VERY close, I think the judges had Shane by SD.
I thought this was a joke or was a thread bumped up from years ago. This is not going to be a pretty fight, it seems like it would figure to be more of an exhibition than anything else, but oh well. I hope Mayorga wins.

He was winning by split decision I think if the fight had finsihed to points but if you watch the fight Mayorga was litterally bullying him most of it. Hes quite a bit naturally bigger and most of the fight he was bullying Mosley.
To appreciate it you need to watch the whole fight as the highlights have had most of Mayorgas success edited out.

Yes! Mosely sure is cursing a lot lately in these interviews. He must not give a damn anymore about maintaining the classy wholesome image. I like it.
Mayorga is a complete and utter fuck up but with Mosely also being shot, he has a chance.
Surreal this is even happening.

Ah, Mayorga fans, full of if if if excuses. But to be a Mayorga fan I suppose you would have to be because he was a fall guy and scumbag.

I seriously wonder if people on this site actually follow or watch boxing sometimes.
You seriously think that Mayorgas last fight was Vargas? He fougt Mosely after Vargas! He then fought Michael Walker, then Miguel Cotto and had 2 low level fights last year the last in December!;D

Re: Mosley vs. Mayorga II set for Aug 29th in LA
Mayorga up to his old tricks shoving Mosley around;D
http://youtu.be/9xdO0D6NdTs
Now Mosleys nipper has been caught cheating im sure Mayorga will have something to say;D
This could alltirn upside down for Mosley;)

Re: Mosley vs. Mayorga II set for Aug 29th in LA
Fat Dan said that this is PPV and is going to cost $50. Is this true? It seems like it must be a joke because I'm not even sure I watch this fight if it a free.

Re: Mosley vs. Mayorga II set for Aug 29th in LA
Ross - I didn't say it was mayorgas last fight I said it was the last time we (not you) saw him, point being he was up at super middle so years later hell struggle to make 154
On the evidence of the photoshoot he looked a lot bigger than Shane & I'd be surprised if he makes weight
Ppv will ensure not a lot of people see this fight

Mayorga fought a big fight against Cotto at 154 after he fought Vargas!!:vd:

Re: Mosley vs. Mayorga II set for Aug 29th in LA
Hopefully this ends in a NC or draw. The biggest problem is the winner will think themselves relevant and be pushed into another big fight/sign my check beating.
Love the irony...Roy Jones jr is fighting that night :-X

Re: Mosley vs. Mayorga II set for Aug 29th in LA
If they made the fight over a tank with sharks and lasers while some one shot rockets at them while they have the red hot chills peppers behind them i pay like 12.99 wtf is this really a pvp. Dear god what has become of the sport this is not a fucking pvp shit it was not one 10 years ago.

It was a perfectly legitimate observation to make. Mayorga will struggle to make weight as he is out of condition & was up at super middle years ago. I believe it was a misinterpretation on your behalf but if you feel it your responsibility to police these boards then that is your prerogative
All the best

How else can I interperet you saying "the last time we saw Mayorga was against Vargas at super middle"?
You clearly forgot or didnt even realise he fought Mosely after and even gave a good account of himself in a light middle challenge to Cotto after the Mosley fight as well.

You misinterpreted it because in your reply you assumed I was saying it was Mayorgas last fight. How do you know when "we" last saw him box? It could've been against six heads Lewis but it would have still been the last time "we" saw him. It's just a misunderstanding over words but life's too short, let's move on......
