Peter Fury wants Vitali to come out of retirement and fight his son Hughie
https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/hd...t=w800-h533-no
Peter Fury wants Vitali to come out of retirement and fight his son Hughie on the Tyson Wlad Bill so that it can be Klitschkos against the Furys ;D "Trainer Peter Fury has informed WBN that he wants former heavyweight great Vitali Klitschko to come out of retirement and face son Hughie on the same bill as his brother Wladimir on October 24.
Vitali, 43, retired in 2012 after ruling with an iron fist over the top division for almost a decade and has since been a prominent figure on the Ukrainian political scene as leader of the UDAR (Ukrainian Democratic Alliance for Reform) Party and as Mayor of Kiev.
The elder Klitschko has never looked back since hanging up his gloves on the back of a tenth successful defence of the WBC championship against Manuel Charr, although Fury hopes to persuade the veteran to battle undefeated Hughie in Dusseldorf.
Wladimir fights Hughie’s cousin Tyson for the unified world heavyweight titles - meaning top billing and chief support would be a family affair if Vitali can be coaxed out of his exile from the sport.
Peter also revealed that he originally wanted his 15-0 son to fight Klitschko’s coach Johnathon Banks on the ESPRIT Arena bill, but has since switched his attention to Vitali and believes it would be a great opportunity for Hughie to make his mark.
“We asked about the possibility of Hughie fighting Klitschko’s coach Banks first of all, but if we can get Vitali out of retirement then that’s even better for us,” Fury exclusively told World Boxing News.
“Banks refused, I think because he wanted to stick to training Wladimir for the fight against Tyson, so why not get Vitali in and make it the Fury’s against the Klitschko brothers?
“Vitali is a great champion and I have nothing but respect for him, but I would have no problem putting Hughie in with him on October 24.
“If we can’t get Vitali or Banks, we will look for a top name to continue Hughie’s progress,” he added.
Details of which other fights will feature on the Klitschko v Fury undercard are set to be trickled out over the next few weeks."

Re: Peter Fury wants Vitali to come out of retirement and fight his son Hughie
Vitali wont fight whithout a title on the line.
Hughies fighting on the 25th ajuly and they havent managed to secure an opponent yet. No one wants to fight, or rather risk their rankings:p

Re: Peter Fury wants Vitali to come out of retirement and fight his son Hughie
Its a good gimmick, but I think Vitality is now retired for good (luckily for Hughie, I suspect)

The reason for this is that the fight is on a Saturday night, and Saturday is the night cab drivers can make the most money in fares.

What's Peter offering, a few hundred million?

Hughies last opponent was better than Wilders, Joshua's, Arreolas, Briggs, Tarvers etc.;)

Re: Peter Fury wants Vitali to come out of retirement and fight his son Hughie
Can we not find someone older who has been retired longer ?
Why doesn't Peter Fury call out George Foreman or maybe Mike Tyson ?
All as likely to happen.

Re: Peter Fury wants Vitali to come out of retirement and fight his son Hughie
Vitali isn't unretiring especially for Hughie.....Wlad will beat up on Tyson and if Hughie wants a piece then so be it

You forgot Tyson.
Maybe Hughie deserves the shot at Wlad?

You know you cant speak ill of the Fury's.
Ross would take his ball home.

Re: Peter Fury wants Vitali to come out of retirement and fight his son Hughie
If Hughie's last opponent was better than everyone else's , then why isn't Peter Fury calling out Joshua ?
I'm sure that would be a good matchup.
Or are they afraid Joshua might accept ?
-
Re: Peter Fury wants Vitali to come out of retirement and fight his son Hughie
The Fury's never mention Joshua. Why? Peter is a fantastic trainer/manager. He wouldn't let Tyson, who admits he got bashed up in sparring from a toddler version of AJ, let alone Hughie near him. Fact.

I agree I think Joshua would beat both of them on the same night , but you realise how upsetting comments like that are to Peter Fury and Ross.?
Fact.

Re: Peter Fury wants Vitali to come out of retirement and fight his son Hughie
They did offer a fight to Hearn for Joshua for Tyson, Chambers and Hughie.

According to Peter Fury by any chance ?;)

Re: Peter Fury wants Vitali to come out of retirement and fight his son Hughie
That'd be pretty sweet. It'd be the first time two brothers got viciously stopped on the same card since Jerry and Mike Quarry got smashed by Bob Foster and Ali in '72 (with both Fury brothers playing the part of the Quarry's)

A sad day for SoCal boxing and totally unexpected! LOL

Course they did. I bet anyone that has ever been in camp with the Fury's could beat Joshua (obviously kingpin doesn't count as we all know he took a dive)

Re: Peter Fury wants Vitali to come out of retirement and fight his son Hughie
Apparently an opponent is being announced Monday (as long as they sign the contract) for Hughie for the 25th. Doesnt sound like they could secure any one top level. Its going to be someone with nearly 50 kos to their name and have mixed at world level. It may be George Arias who isnt as good as Hughies last opponent.....

Colour me shocked.
I was there when Audley beat Arias on the Prescott-Khan undercard. He was shit then. Terrible opponent if it's him.

They have publicly said all the names they have offered the fight and they have also said they have offered them all good money. If they were talking bullshit those names would have come back and said they were full of shit but they arent.
Its down to the risk reward factor. If someone like Arreola was to lose to Hughie would he have been lined up for a shot at Wilder? He would have earnt more money fighting Hughie by a long shot than he will his journeymen fights.

Have these guys that rejected the fight been named? Because if they've not been named then why would they need to defend themselves?
I'm not saying Hughie needs to be fighting top level, but there has got to be a middle of the range guy available for suitable progress otherwise what is the point?

Re: Peter Fury wants Vitali to come out of retirement and fight his son Hughie
LOL WTF is Peter Fury smoking. "Here Vitali come out of retirement and fight this guy noone has heard of for fuck all money. Yea those multi million euro fights you could come out of retirement for, ignore them, you need Hughie to cement your legacy"

You cant say this with any confidence until Rudenko beats someone of note. He pushed Browne close but lost. That doesnt make him good.

He should have got the decision against Browne and regardless, hes still better than the last WBC challenger!

Possibly.
Like I said I think we can agree he beats Wilders and Arreolas last opponents.

Re: Peter Fury wants Vitali to come out of retirement and fight his son Hughie
Hughie is fighting George Arias
Hughie Fury looks to become first in a decade to stop Arias on July 25 - Hennessy Sports
We were looking for a top ten or top fifteen-ranked opponent for Hughie, but nobody we approached fancied the job,” said Peter Fury, Hughie’s trainer and father. “A lot of them didn’t want to take the risk. They either didn’t respond to our offers or they simply said ‘no’.
“We’ve got George Arias now and I’m happy with him as the opponent on short-notice. He will take Hughie rounds and continue his development.
“If you look down his record, he’s fought some good names. He’s fought Johnny Nelson for the world title. He’s boxed everybody and given them all a run for their money.
“What I like about this fight is that Arias is in shape. He’s not over the hill. He comes into the fight in good condition and he’s on a good run of form.
“A statement can be made if Hughie stops him, but, looking at Arias, and looking at the punches he’s able to take, it’s very, very doubtful. He’s in good physical shape and his body looks strong. It will take one hell of a performance, or punch, for Hughie to knock this guy out.”
