Who would have won?
McCallum would wreck the body of GGG and win on points. Mike would beat everyone GGG has fought. I do not think GGG could beat a prime Toney, Graham and Kalambay.
Also, McCallum took punches from a prime, undefeated Julian Jackson. I think he'll be able to take Golovkin's punches.
McCallum is one of the greatest boxers ever, so underrated. Hard to pick GGG against him.
I'll tell you another guy from that time who was amazing but criminally underrated: Reggie Johnson.
I'd take Reggie over GGG too.
What an amazing time for the MW division back then....
Y'all gotta go back and watch some Reggie Johnson. So skilled as a boxer, fantastic counter puncher, solid defence, good southpaw jab and a really good left straight/hook. He had a lot more power than his KO % gives him credit for, too. I think he's the only guy to ever legitimately drop and hurt Toney (a fight he won IMO).
He could box and fight and if you look at some of the guys he outboxed like Toney and Kidfire you're seeing an A-level boxer. If you watches his losses, pretty much all of them were razor close and could have gone his way, except the RJJ fight. He even gave Tarver a tough fight at 175 years later when Reggie was washed up.

Only guy to beat Lamar Parks who would have been great had he not contracted HIV

Great 1-punch KO at 175, great southpaw right hook

McCallum also had a good ring IQ.
It's probably just me, but I think McCallum would have been a tough outing for just about any MW in history.
McCallum was entirely too versatile and ran too deep for what I've seen of Golovkin.
GGG is not landing his jab, he's not landing his straight right, McCallum is rolling his shots and hitting him with the counter uppercut all night and digging hard to the body. GGG can't beat the mighty McCallum!
McCallum is probably one of the most underrated fighters of all time.
One hell of a tough guy, smart and a serious test for any middleweight in history. One of those fighters who gave his opponents hell.
I would not give GGG any chance of beating him.
its much too early to have a rounded judgement on Golovkin until after he has retired. There have been so many invincible indestructible all time greats while they were fighting .... But to whom history is slightly less kind once we have the benefit of seeing their whole career.
Don Curry springs to mind here, as do Gerald McClelland and Naseem Hamed.
Golovkin looks like a monster at the moment, but let's see how his career ends
Good fight McCallum could be out boxed which was shown but getting knocked out is kinda of a strech very hard thing to do. GGG great and all but i like see how he does in the next 10 years and then i could answer the question he is still new to fighting.
