Joseph Parker is Looking Every Bit the Part
He might be the best of the current crop of heavyweight up-and-comers. He has the size, dexterity, and speed. What's your take?

Looks very slow to me when you compare him to the rising young fighters coming through.
He needs to fuck New Zealand off and start fighting at least fighters who are proven durable.
I actually think he's pretty quick and agile when you consider his size.

I think he's done alright with the level of opposition he has taken on, he has beaten Minto who isn't total crap and he took on Sherman Williams too who is certainly durable but a bit fat. I think the level of opposition is pretty similar to Joshuas and other heavyweight prospects. He's taking on Kali meehan next which might be interesting as he has had some good performances over his career, although I do think he has been ko'd a few times and is well into his 40s now :S
Re: Joseph Parker is Looking Every Bit the Part
I think he is on par with other prospects around his level. The Meehan clash is another step up. They seem to be trying to build up a decent following for him in New Zealand and the Trans-Tasman interrelationship between NZ and Oz (i.e. Tupou, Meehan) is adding to that. I don't think it will be long before he heads overseas.
Re: Joseph Parker is Looking Every Bit the Part
He doesn't look like no Anthony Joshua to me but he can certainly punch.
incidentally he has two common opponents with Dillian Whyte - Costa Junior and Nascimento. Between them they didn't last three rounds with Whyte. Nascimento took Parker 7 and Costa Junior took him 4 (although did end up kipping).

Did Dillian Whyte beat them while on PEDs? I'm being facetious, but comparing opponents doesn't always indicate trajectory. I also rate Whyte highly too.
Parker seems to have a good team around him that is moving him along well.
Re: Joseph Parker is Looking Every Bit the Part
He still hasn't shown anything bad so far and his power has proven to still be efficient as he steps up. Just would've liked to see him continue the stp ups after Minto

I was more making a point about Whyte than Parker. If Parker is a top prospect then maybe Whyte has some underrated form.
Re: Joseph Parker is Looking Every Bit the Part
At this point isn't a Joseph Parker vs Lucas Browne fight the biggest thing that could happen Down Under?

No this was after his two year ban. Both were this year.
Re: Joseph Parker is Looking Every Bit the Part
Looking at the shot that Parker hit Tupou with :headscratch:, did it even land?

I think they're moving toward that fight without saying it. Browne has been trying to talk himself into a fight with Joshua or Wilder first, which I understand, because he can lose to them and still have a big fight with Parker in Aus or NZ.

Browne is stagnating waiting on his mandatory shot to Chagaev. Brownes last fight was Chauncey Welliver and his next fight is Julius Long!!
Brownes career is almost paralleling Wilders;D
Re: Joseph Parker is Looking Every Bit the Part
Have to see him vs 45 yr old Kali Meehan in step up to make fair assessment :-X. Honestly not bad comp for 15 fights, but has he been hit?

Didn't Sherman Williams give it a go?
