Massive fight for me 5th sept.
Taking on former pro and a lad who's had 300 fights called James Higgy.
Got offered a shit fight but refused it because he was just a kebab shop brawler.
Fight is at 13 stone and he's going to be 12 stone 6. He's one of the best lads on the semi pro circuit ive heard so I'm training very hard.
-
Re: Massive fight for me 5th sept.
That is a tough fight I would have taken on the kebab shop brawler.
Are you still in shape and been training?
-
Re: Massive fight for me 5th sept.
He's not a big puncher mate. What would I learn fighting a kebab shop brawler? I want to progress master having a bust up with a wilder swinger won't teach me nothing. This is a fantastic opportunity for me. I can't wait for it. Yes still training all of the time and in shape, never out of the gym.
-
Re: Massive fight for me 5th sept.
I still think you have limited experience and need to refine your boxing skills and handle rough tough fighters.
Chasing skilled fighters is another level up and more complex. Cutting the ring, setting up traps and executing them is another dimension.

Re: Massive fight for me 5th sept.
Good luck man, you know what you're doing in there and I'm sure it'll be a good scrap.
-
Re: Massive fight for me 5th sept.
Kebab shop brawler :)
Good luck mate

Re: Massive fight for me 5th sept.
This fella has fought Scott Dixon (decent British level fighter - back in the day - that chinned out Jamie Moore) and Michael Gomez. Good luck.

What are you doing? That is too good quality. Get back down a level. How do you expect me to build up and manufacture you and sell you to Warren or Hennesey?

He's a man and doing what men do, hopefully he'll accept your apology with grace when you are proven wrong.
He's stepping up, trying to be that fighter we all claim we want to see. I believe in you Seddon!

Re: Massive fight for me 5th sept.
Something my Son told me the hardest guy to fight, is some one who does not NO HOW TO FIGHT,why because you don't no what they are going to do.!!!!!!!!!!
In this case Tam you are fighting, a boxer not a brawler mate and you want to try your skill
set well done, I hope you do well mate.:)

Re: Massive fight for me 5th sept.
I know how good he is and I know he's far more experienced than me. But why not give it 110% and see what happens? I'll be fighting for years master this is a tough one but I want to know want the challenge. He also got stopped in his last fight too in Malta and was thinking about retiring...I think this is the best possible time to fight him?
I'd take this fight over the kebab shop brawler anyday of the week. I don't tend to do well against them anyway they bring me down to their level.
I've been mixing it with good level lads recently so why not carry on this run?
Hahaha also check out this sparring picture from tonight with a 6 foot 7 , 18 stone 8 lad. He wasn't close to knocking me out, so I'm not too worried about Higgys power. He's an excellent boxer though and I am so excited for the challenge

I will be lucky to sell him to anyone.
Remember if you win it was my idea, you lose and I do not know you.

Do not say that too publicly as it is difficult to negotiate a goo deal.
You are an A side fighter now.
-
Good luck Tam. He looks a bit slippery.

Re: Massive fight for me 5th sept.
Had great sparring in Liverpool yesterday with professional Dayle Gallagher, a 11-1 heavyweight and former oppoent Martin Jackson. I boxed well against all three but all three were good lads. I'm 7 pounds off the weight with 2 weeks and 6 days to go !!!

Sorry dayle Gallagher is a welterweight who's 1-0 in the pros. This was Sean turner who was 11-1 as a heavyweight. And no not at all, I'm improving all of the time.

I know of an Irish heavy called Sean "Big Sexy" Turner who trains with Furys sometimes and also fought Joshua (on youtube) in the amteurs but hes 5-0 in pros.

How's it going? Can't wait to get in there or glad you have more time to prepare? Some of both probably.
Pulling for you, give him hell!
-
Re: Massive fight for me 5th sept.
Training is going very well I did 12 hard rounds none stop with an unbeaten ABA amatuer who's got a very bright furure in the sport. We both did really well. My diet is spot on and the weight is coming off everyday. I'm going back up to Liverpool for more sparring on Saturday. Training hard tonight, Thursday off and then a good circuit and pads work out on friday. My fitness is getting there and it's only going to improve. Fights two weeks on Saturday so I still have good preparation time. Feel really excited for this one though, kind of how Hatton was feeling vs tszyu haha. Only thing on my mind 24/7. That's why I've not seen the dieting side as a problem because I want to be at my best for this one. I'm going to give it my best shot and I'm very excited.
You can probably all expect me to box at least another 6 times by the end of the year too haha.

Re: Massive fight for me 5th sept.
Do not burn yourself out and over train. Make sure you rest and have a good nights sleep.

Re: Massive fight for me 5th sept.
I lost my by 1 point :( im not being bitter but I thought I did enough and minimum it was a draw. It was the best I've ever boxed by a mile. First round he outboxed me from being too quick and staying on the back foot and letting his hands go. The second round I won clearly, I was very aggressive and was in full control. Until I was the third round again IT was close but I thought I did enough, and so did a lot of people in the crowd and my corner. I would have take a draw on the chin but not a lose. He was a very good boxer though, and a really sound lad. I'm gutted because it was my best performance to date In the ring against a former pro who's had 300 fights.
After the first round he outboxed me clearly and my friend saw him having a laugh about it so ive heard but the second and third round I went for it. On the front foot and worked so well and thought I did enough for the win. I did myself proud though being very inexperienced compared to him and he knew he was in a real fight.
He was a sound sound lad though and we both gave each other good praise after, hopefully a rematch will come in the not too distance future. He's one of the best semi pro boxers in the country and for me to compete like I did has given me
So much confidence. I don't feel like a loser , ive learnt a hell out a lot from it. He officially one by 1 point , it won't be long till the YouTube video will be up and you will all see.
Back in the ring November 6th. I'm off to ibiza next week for 5 days, then Dublin for what was suppose to be lee-Saunders and then my 25th bday im seeing the Liam smith MEN card. So after that ive got a good 4 week camp and I'll be training in between as per usual.
Gutted about tonight though, but I've shown when I'm at 13 stone I can really mix it with the best in the country. I've got a tiny black eye but that's it. I'll get the video up asap
Couple of pictures from the fight

Re: Massive fight for me 5th sept.
Well done, you did better I thought you would.
So it was worth boxing him than just a pub room brawler then? You were right about that.
-
Re: Massive fight for me 5th sept.
When I saw he had fought good ex-pro British champs I thought you was most likely going to get a hiding. Well done for holding your own.
