Golovkin/Lemeiux build up- Being handled properly!
Yup. This is one POTENTIAL mega-fight post Oscar and post Floyd that's being handled properly.
The build up is solid. The promotions are going smoothly. The hype is soft, but yet they aren't really hot guys like a Mayorga, or Tyson or Prince Naseem. You know? Someone that can give you that "extra" at a presser.
This is a fine match-up being given PROFESSIONAL building that it deserves in the NOW "post-Floyd" era.

Thought you had a link to a promo of the fight.

Re: Golovkin/Lemeiux build up- Being handled properly!
I haven't seen any of the build up and I'm not to interested in it, as you say both guys are polite. Debating making this the first PPV I've bought in ages, but to be honest I just see the two main bouts as mismatches. I think Lemieux will be a lamb in there, and I wouldn't be surprised to see Viloria get blown out as well. Though he's never been destroyed before, he is 34 and Gonzales is freakishly good, like way better than any of the guys who have beaten him to my eyes.

This. I'd love to be wrong though and see the best come out of the champions

Re: Golovkin/Lemeiux build up- Being handled properly!
The buildup? What buildup? There's been very little of it. It's actually not being handle properly. And I agree with p4p. I think Lemieux and Viloria are gonna get slaughtered.

Re: Golovkin/Lemeiux build up- Being handled properly!
Main event has potential to be a bomb fest on paper but I think Golovkin takes him to school. This should of been a solid HBO double header if anything, the undercard is none existent for a ppv.

3G 165 at the 30 day weigh in. Pretty much a natural middle and gym rat like Hopkins.
David close to 177.

For those saying that the build up isn't good- what did you expect for anyone post Floyd and soon post Manny?

If the build up is too lame for you, you should be watching Tyson 'Batman' Fury. Excitation at its best!

Re: Golovkin/Lemeiux build up- Being handled properly!
GGG is not much of a trash talker, it maybe because he does not have a good grasp on English,;)
he does his talking in the ring, Lemeiux can punch a bit but only one winner here GGG.

Neither man talks trash. They are both honourable in that regard. Another thing honourable is Davids willingness to fight. He probably could have milked it a bit and maybe got the winner of the fraud championship. At least David has the berries to match his punch. Smart money is of course on the Kazak but who knows what could happen if David gets some good flush shots in early.

But I think it will be exciting while it lasts. I think if GGG were to get into an exchange like the one he had with Geale on the KO punch, and GGG came out on top with the heavier shot, he may not come out on top against David.

The sentence highlighted. Folks really and truly wanna know how will GGG respond when he gets hit with Lemmy's shots... really.. I haven't seen a MW or someone in the lesser division hit like that since Hearns...

Julian Jackson, Nigel benn, the blade.....

I can see Golovkin having too much for him here but I am intrigued to see what happens when a power punched lands on GGG

Yes it makes a change that both party's show a bit of respect, it can wear a bit thin the trash talking
I hope in turns out to be a good fight.:)

Benn was WILD.... compare him to Jackson or Hearns, there is no comparison. Hearns and Jackson it crisp and clean and with accuracy, sorta like how David is now.

Hope so, be interesting to see how he adapts if he gets stung at all,but think he'll do it in 8 and make people realize he has real skills setting up what he wants. His walk down of people and lateral movement cutting off reminds me of Kostyas and he was great when getting his own way too and loved to bang and cared not what it took to get in there.I like him, just dont know how he will go stepping it up if he tastes his own medicine.

Re: Golovkin/Lemeiux build up- Being handled properly!
Golovkin's chin has well and truly past the test. Funker has never been decked in 400 fights.
If you get knocked out by a fighter like Lemeiux it's not really because you're chinny it's because he's a sicko puncher. If he catches you right he could chin anyone. Just like the sicko middleweight punchers from back in the day - Jackson, Hearns, G-Man, Benn etc.

Re: Golovkin/Lemeiux build up- Being handled properly!
I can't see Golovkin getting sparked. He looks bulletproof, there's never been any sign of him looking vulnerable. Lemieux has a chance in this fight but not much of one. If anybody's getting knocked out it's Lemieux.

Two big punchers in the ring, nothing would surprise me!

Can't subscribe! If you get caught with a perfect shot by any decent fighter you can get chinned, and obviously GGG has fought guys with enough power and delivery, in the ams and pros. Lemieux definitely has a great punch, but I don't see him as a guy who hides his shots very well or has a lot of variety. N'dam got caught with absolutely everything Lemiuex could have hit him with and he IS chinny, yet imo he still came on stronger and won the 12th round of their fight doing some damage of his own. On the flip side.... Lemieux is not a great boxer, doesn't have a great chin, and has been stopped before by a guy who was fodder for GGG. Don't buy that he's that improved nearly enough to make this interesting myself.

Re: Golovkin/Lemeiux build up- Being handled properly!
Tried but cannot get hyped for this as PPV but two potential quick shoot out fights..aka early tkos. It'll depend on how long the work day went ;D because they will replay it in a week. We're caught in extremes some weekends, decent competing cards like last Saturday and you miss out or you have to pay for the only action available :-X King Kong Ortiz on the undercard being handed a wba heavyweight trinket. Lemeiux is a legit puncher but he'll be broken down and busted up in the wheelhouse of Golovkin midway.

Not sure i'd call N'dam chinny. Yeah he's been floored a million times but he always gets up.
Regardless, I think Lemieux has improved and think he has a punchers chance. Do I think he will win? No.

I have to agree with @Spicoli once again (it's shameful). Both are good, solid fights, and I'd watch them in a heart beat if they were on regular HBO. I'm not sure I can stomach forking over $60 to watch GGG and Chocolatito dominate. On the flip side of the coin, the card is pretty stacked from top to bottom, with Tureano Johnson versus O'Kane and a heavyweight fight that I'm blanking on now. As I think about it, the GGG vs. Lemieux fight is between two guys with top ten KO percentages in all of boxing, and I think when Viloria is on his game, he's a tough outing for anyone. If Choco runs through him, he's probably as special as we think he is. Damn it! I'm getting tempted to buy it.

Re: Golovkin/Lemeiux build up- Being handled properly!
These are silly between respectful bods but whatever. I'd love to see Max sitting between Dillian Whyte and AJ. 30 seconds in he wouldn't be able to get his lines out. Bum gone.
