Terry Flanagan-Diego Magdaleno/Liam Smith-John Thompson - Sat/BN. Fact.
As this is on BoxNation nobody will watch it or give a shit but anyway.
Flanagan (28-0/11 KOs) is the current WBO lightweight "world" champion. He won the vacant title in spectacular fashion when his opponent, Jose Zepeda, busted his shoulder after six minutes and was forced to quit. There's probably around half-a-dozen lightweights in the UK that are more well known than Flanagan. For a "world" champion he's ignored by The Ring and ESPN in their top 10 rankings. SugarJ ranks him no. 10.
Diego Magdaleno (28-1/12 KOs) looks the naturally smaller man. He has the best form though - a SD loss to Roman Martinez and a win, last time out, against Jose A Gonzalez, who has good skills but is a bit of a bottle job. Like Flanagan he is a southpaw, they sort of fight similar, neither are big punchers.
Flanagan - 8/11
Magdaleno - 6/5 (general)
Draw - 22/1
Haven't got a danny. For a degenerate bet - Draw.

Re: Terry Flanagan-Diego Magdaleno/Liam Smith-John Thompson - Sat/BN. Fact.
Liam Smith-John Thompson is for the vacant WBO lightmiddle title. Smith (20-0-1/10 KOs) is the best of the Smith brothers (according to his promoter Frank Warren. Surprise.). He's also probably the least known. However, he gets a chance to get bragging rights over his brothers by becoming the first "world" champ. Originally he was going to fight Michel Soro, who looked far tougher than John Thompson. Result.
Thompson (17-1/6 KOs) won the ESPN Boxcino comp this year. Before that he was on the missing list after getting ironed out inside four minutes by Frank Galarza (an unbeaten fighter that is still unbeaten). He's never been past eight rounds. He has a decent height and reach advantage over Smith, and looks a sharp puncher, albeit not a big one. From what i've seen he can't dodge a right hand. Smith doesn't do anything standout but is a neat and tidy technically solid boxer. I can see a good start for the American but weak finish.
Smith - 4/11
Thompson - 11/4
Smith KO - EVES

Re: Terry Flanagan-Diego Magdaleno/Liam Smith-John Thompson - Sat/BN. Fact.
Luke Blackledge-Lee Markham

I will be ;D Like Liam Smith and am yet to really see Flanagan in action, heard he's ok but can't bang, Liam Smith is very exciting and i rate him alot so should be good.
There's some cracking fights coming our way from now till December too so all good.
-
Re: Terry Flanagan-Diego Magdaleno/Liam Smith-John Thompson - Sat/BN. Fact.
Box Nation have some top fights until December and provide better value for money than Sky and its ppv bollocks.
-
Re: Terry Flanagan-Diego Magdaleno/Liam Smith-John Thompson - Sat/BN. Fact.
The Smith-Thompson fight is the fight of the card.
-
Re: Terry Flanagan-Diego Magdaleno/Liam Smith-John Thompson - Sat/BN. Fact.
Vijender Singh looked pretty good on his pro debut. Turning pro as an old boy (29) I fully expect he'll be flattened sooner rather than later but still...
-
Re: Terry Flanagan-Diego Magdaleno/Liam Smith-John Thompson - Sat/BN. Fact.
Ryan Burnett looks a good prospect. Like all Adam Booth fighters the mantra seems - if you throw make it count. Something that Groves seems to have forgot
-
Re: Terry Flanagan-Diego Magdaleno/Liam Smith-John Thompson - Sat/BN. Fact.
Stalker-Evans what a 1st round.
Was hoping the bookies made Evans the underdog but they were clued up
-
Re: Terry Flanagan-Diego Magdaleno/Liam Smith-John Thompson - Sat/BN. Fact.
This Stalker/Evams fight has started brilliantly, doubt if they can keep this sort of pace up for long but if they can then it won't be going to points
-
Re: Terry Flanagan-Diego Magdaleno/Liam Smith-John Thompson - Sat/BN. Fact.
Stalker has snapped his head back plenty but he can't punch.
-
Re: Terry Flanagan-Diego Magdaleno/Liam Smith-John Thompson - Sat/BN. Fact.
I've been kind of dropping in and out of the first few rounds of it, who's on top at the moment or is 50/50?
-
Re: Terry Flanagan-Diego Magdaleno/Liam Smith-John Thompson - Sat/BN. Fact.
Stalker is taking control. If he could punch Evans would have been decapitated
-
Re: Terry Flanagan-Diego Magdaleno/Liam Smith-John Thompson - Sat/BN. Fact.
Cracking fight.
Stalker won.
Official it's a draw. Evans even says Stalker nicked it.
-
Re: Terry Flanagan-Diego Magdaleno/Liam Smith-John Thompson - Sat/BN. Fact.
Gonzales-Kays.
Kayys on the deck in the 1st and 2nd. Gonzales barely throws a punch in the 3rd.
-
Re: Terry Flanagan-Diego Magdaleno/Liam Smith-John Thompson - Sat/BN. Fact.
What a shot from Gonzalaz

Re: Terry Flanagan-Diego Magdaleno/Liam Smith-John Thompson - Sat/BN. Fact.
You can't beat a perfectly timed uppercut when it comes to replays
-
Re: Terry Flanagan-Diego Magdaleno/Liam Smith-John Thompson - Sat/BN. Fact.
What an uppercut from Gonzales. Kays did well to get up. One more clump. Goodnight Vienna. 4th round KO.
-
Twas a cracker as Frank Carson would have said. I have a rare Saturday evening off and am looking forward to Smith.
-
Re: Terry Flanagan-Diego Magdaleno/Liam Smith-John Thompson - Sat/BN. Fact.
Why was BJS v Lee cancelled first time round? was Lee ill or did I make that up?

Just before noon here;D
All my errands are done and its just to muddy to take the two crazies out.
Besides if not for the Brit domestic/world scene I'd probably give up on the sport altogether.

They booked a 33,000 seat stadium and sold 3000 tickets.

I thought Saunders was injured. Cut eye?
-
Re: Terry Flanagan-Diego Magdaleno/Liam Smith-John Thompson - Sat/BN. Fact.
The cut eye was the second cancelation, the first was lack of tickets under the guise of an illness I think
-
Re: Terry Flanagan-Diego Magdaleno/Liam Smith-John Thompson - Sat/BN. Fact.
I need Blackledge to win this to keep my bet alive
-
Re: Terry Flanagan-Diego Magdaleno/Liam Smith-John Thompson - Sat/BN. Fact.
It's like watching a fight between the same bod
-
Re: Terry Flanagan-Diego Magdaleno/Liam Smith-John Thompson - Sat/BN. Fact.
Every round could have been 10-10

I thought it was the beer. Trippy, bit like a Lynch or Fincher filum.:-)
-
Re: Terry Flanagan-Diego Magdaleno/Liam Smith-John Thompson - Sat/BN. Fact.
Barry Jones has said "close round" about a thousand times.
This is the most uneventful phone booth fight ever.
-
Re: Terry Flanagan-Diego Magdaleno/Liam Smith-John Thompson - Sat/BN. Fact.
Finally a clear winner to a round. Mark.
-
Re: Terry Flanagan-Diego Magdaleno/Liam Smith-John Thompson - Sat/BN. Fact.
If you ever wanted to know what it would be like to fight yourself watch that.
Blackledge gets a UD. Markham can dine out on being "robbed." A draw was probably fair
-
Re: Terry Flanagan-Diego Magdaleno/Liam Smith-John Thompson - Sat/BN. Fact.
Thanks for the rbr man. Thompson is a good story and shined in the Boxcino tourny as a last minute replacement. Don't believe I've watched Smith before.
As for the Magdaleno brothers, meh. Hope Flanagan does a number on the low grade Vinny Pazienza ;D
-
Re: Terry Flanagan-Diego Magdaleno/Liam Smith-John Thompson - Sat/BN. Fact.
I couldn't resist having a little bet on Thompson just because of his size.
-
Re: Terry Flanagan-Diego Magdaleno/Liam Smith-John Thompson - Sat/BN. Fact.
What a shambles. No ring walk music. Gaff is blacked out as usual
-
Re: Terry Flanagan-Diego Magdaleno/Liam Smith-John Thompson - Sat/BN. Fact.
British favorites, commentators, arena and everything else..American TV on a lazy Saturday afternoon. Think boxing has grown up a bit
Thompson booed. Nice.
-
Smith tense overthinking things and Thompson easily reading him. Needs to work before he can start getting the long guys attention.
-
Re: Terry Flanagan-Diego Magdaleno/Liam Smith-John Thompson - Sat/BN. Fact.
2-0 Thompson. Liam letting him set the table and not working.
