Looks like it's Kovalev - Pascal 2
Kovalev-Pascal Talks Nearly Complete, 1/30 In Montreal - Boxing News
It was a good fight but it wasn't rematch worthy. But it was a good fight ... But it did have a clear winner. I don't see how pascal can change to get a win either, kovalev stoppage again for me in another good fight!!! Doing my head in that
He can't just fight Stevenson
-
Re: Looks like it's Kovalev - Pascal 2
you never know
pascal might think that he could have done something slightly different last time
kov might think its an easy fight
tell you what tho credit to pascal, it was a reasonably bad beating in the end, most people wouldnt want to risk that again
-
Didn't Gonzalez just beat Pascal? Seems rather weak on Kovalevs part
-
Re: Looks like it's Kovalev - Pascal 2
We'd all love to see Kovalev-Stevenson. But last I heard, it was Stevenson that conveniently ducked Kovalev..... then comically calls him out after beating Karpency. Talk is cheap. Put your money where your cape is, "Superman".

Didn't Kovalev pull out of the purse bid and sign exclusive with HBO then say no matter who won rights the fights would have to be on HBO even though that would pay less? People need to stop with the double standards. What I just described makes him every bit as responsible as Stevenson. I don't even like Stevenson but a person would have to be blind not to notice certain types always get a pass

very true, i watched that fight and pascal was very lucky to avoid defeat
im not sure gonzalez would be a good oponent for kov either tho, he seemed very static and just out muscled pascal
i reckon unless gonzalez has a very good chin kov would get to him earlier than he would pascal

Yeah, Kovalev gets part of the blame, I guess. But call it intuition... I have a hard time thinking Kovalev would be scared of facing Stevenson, while it's not difficult for me to visualize it the other way around.

Pascal, don't bring your daughter this time, she's cute as she can be and doesn't deserve to see her father take another beating, if it happens!
I don't know who screwed things up with Kovalev/Stevenson, but Stevenson is probably grinding his teeth right now. Two possible PPVs down the drain.

Re: Looks like it's Kovalev - Pascal 2
Maybe there is just no other fight out there for him at the moment but this is not a rematch worthy fight.

Re: Looks like it's Kovalev - Pascal 2
He should give Fonfara an opportunity

I think the children/family of boxers have it hard. How many times has a boxer got whooped -I MEAN BAD!!! And the camera's next shot is the child crying. Think Arguello's son after Pryor. Marvis talked about it after Frazier/Forman
Chad Dawson busted up by Pascal- 30 minutes prior he comes to the ring with his son.
Cotto's whole family after Margarito I.
Most recent is Pac's wife balling her eyes out over JMM KO. I mean does the camera man dictate this? or is there some cruel producer saying ":in the event of a knockout- be on standby for ANY family members reactions.
Yeah, man Pascal's daughter didn't need to see it, but hey...it is what it is!!

Isn't he the mandatory for a Stevenson rematch? I think that's why it's not happening.
Also, kovalev would really hurt fonfara with his lack of defense.

Re: Looks like it's Kovalev - Pascal 2
So kovalev isn't a mandatory? Also, Stevenson should be fighting Pascal. Big Canadian fight

Interesting...

Re: Looks like it's Kovalev - Pascal 2
Horrible rematch imo, the first fight was really good, but only competitive for a couple of rounds. Pascal was fucked early, fought out of his skin to get through it and land his best punches, couldn't hurt Kovalev with them and then got flattened. At the absolute best it would be a repeat of that, the way I see it, so what's the point. Pascal-Stevenson would be a much more interesting fight.
-
Re: Looks like it's Kovalev - Pascal 2
Yeah.... Pascal should fight Stevenson before he gets permanently ruined by Kovalev.
-
Re: Looks like it's Kovalev - Pascal 2
Pascal and Stevenson live in the same city for crying out loud, that should be a no brainer of a fight to make and I have to imagine its Stevenson who doesn't want it, nothing else makes much sense.

I know things aren't going to change, just venting about the callousness of it.

He has the WBC "Diamond" belt so that makes him automatic mandatory

Re: Looks like it's Kovalev - Pascal 2
Stevenson v Pascal makes sense but Kovalev is the best light heavyweight.

Yes I know but they just do not make the big fights we want so have to go through all the leading contenders first. :)

Re: Looks like it's Kovalev - Pascal 2
I never thought for a second RJJ could improve Pascal. RJJ was a reflex phenom, not a textbook boxer. How can he teach one to throw 4 left hooks in a row?
-
Re: Looks like it's Kovalev - Pascal 2
I think Pascal was trying to model himself after RJJ whether he was there in his corner or not. It was pretty apparent. In that respect, i guess i see the point in trying to get advice from the guy who had more success with it that you did. Im not sure if it was more practical application or theory though. I dont know how much one camp can do either. Roy seems to umm... "dabble" in training. Between vargas, and pascal..... i dont know if there is someone whos corner hes in all the time every time. Which he really should if he wants to be a trainer. maybe after hes done fighting.
