King vows upset;; Zab a no show!

IBF Welterweight champion Zab "Super" Judah, 34-3 (25 KOs), did little to change perception of his attitude today as he failed to show for a conference to hype his April 8 "Sworn Enemies" showdown against pound-for-pound king Floyd Mayweather at the Thomas and Mack Center in Las Vegas and televised live on HBO Pay-Per-View.
Advertised as featuring the three-time champion giving his analysis of his stunning title-losing defeat at the hands of Carlos Baldomir last January, as well as his plans for pulling an upset over "Pretty Boy" Mayweather, what the media got instead was Judah’s father/trainer Yoel and promoter Don King doing their best to sell the idea that an upset is in the making and that Judah’s intense focus is what prevented him from helping out in the event promotion.
"We’ve got our hands full with Floyd Mayweather. He’s considered the best pound for pound, but we’re going to rise to the occasion and knock him out," vowed King. The elder Judah agreed "We ready. We up. We able. We’re going in there with full confidence. Mayweather’s got a big mouth and we will shut it. Zab gets up for the big fights and he’s up for Mayweather because he’s got a big mouth. This is the fight where we show what we do best and Floyd, you can’t stop it."
King also made a bold prediction given the smooth boxing styles of both competitors. "You’ve got a real fight coming that night and it’ll be another victory for me over Bob Arum. This will win fight of the year honors. I will be very surprised if it doesn’t. Zab is even more focused than he was against (Corey) Spinks. Floyd Mayweather is going to be surprised when he is literally destroyed."

Re: King vows upset;; Zab a no show!
No way is that going to be the fight of the year reguardless of the outcome.... Sounds like Zab still has a grudge with King parading him around.
-
Re: King vows upset;; Zab a no show!

Re: King vows upset;; Zab a no show!
Wow, I'm overwhelmed. Don King saying fight of the year! My man will knock him out! We don't believe anything you ever say Don, why start now? He needs to hire a new speaker, because he's full of shat!
-
Re: King vows upset;; Zab a no show!
Don King also thought that Frans Botha would upset Lennox Lewis too

Re: King vows upset;; Zab a no show!
Zab didn't show up for the press conference? Like Roy Jones for that third Tarver fight. I guess Zab will be sporting a mountain man beard at the weigh in.
-
Re: King vows upset;; Zab a no show!

Re: King vows upset;; Zab a no show!

Fixed.

Re: King vows upset;; Zab a no show!
Look Zab was too busy training, not too busy to go to Miami Heat games and Miranda fights but he's serious now

A lot of fighters do things at night AFTER they train during the day ;) Mike tyson went to phoenix Suns games when training for McBride do you hold it against him ??? Many fighters do things AFTER TRAINING hours. The Miranda fight would be after training hours wouldn't it ??? He's training when he doesn't show up and you can't diss that so stop trying to find a reason to hate ;)

Re: King vows upset;; Zab a no show!
Whats really funny is the way they try to imply that Zabs focus and him being so hell bent on training for this fight is why he didnt have time for the promotions. Umm if he was training, shouldn't his trainer be training with him instead of being at the press conference?
The minute I read this story, I knew the flood of "oooh, he's serious now..." posts would eventually follow. I dont doubt that zabs worked harder for this fight that he has for baldomir, but this just shows that people are not keeping tabs on him the way they should. Wether some people wanna believe it or not, hes still a kid (or acts like one anyway) and the reason he's detoured so far from the course that would put him in line with his potential, is because noones kept their thumb on him constantly. This is most likely an act and king and dear old dad are talking sh*t.
With an ego like Zabs, he could be training or he could getting Armor All applied to his teeth...

Re: King vows upset;; Zab a no show!
I think Zab's assistant trainer worked with him while Yoel represented him at the press conference.

so on april 8th there will be 2 guys swingin and screamin bang bang bang when zab goes back to his corner? Zab doesnt even listen to his head trainer, i doubt he'll listen and learn from an assistant.

Re: King vows upset;; Zab a no show!
Is it just me of is Don king starting to show his age? every word you posted wasn't made up by Don king and can be found in the English dictionary...
The most 'fabulous positivly glittegory monoumetonios' (as don would say) word he used was 'Literally'.
maybe its not to long before his hair sags and he ends up on life support? :D

what judah said after the baldozar loss was...
I GOT A FUCKED UP PROMOTER, HE MADE ME SPEND ALL THIS TIME PROMOTING THE FIGHT
-
Re: King vows upset;; Zab a no show!
so he's finally saying "no" to king.
And Don isn't showing his age, he's showing his weight.

Cursing at someone through a conference call is promoting the fight? I'm sure don king put Zab and like 10 of his friends up to trying to intimidate Baldomir in the hallway before the fight after all the tickets were bought and the money was already being counted... Zab was looking for an excuse. Any way possible to claim it wasnt him that got beat by a mediocre opponent.
If Baldomir layed down for Zab, he would have been all grin and bling and not said anything. Hundreds of other fighters have carried promotions doing more than zab did, and still beat guys tougher than baldomir. Hopkins (also being promoted by king) went down to Puerto Rico, threw down a flag, was chased half way around a baseball stadium by an angry mob before jumping 10 feet down into a hallway and still schooled Trinidad and knocked him out. If Zab did what he was supposed to and took the fight seriously, baldomir would have been schooled if not knocked out. The potential for both of those fighters is not even close. Zab lost himself the fight in the judges eyes (i still had him winning barely by a point, but...) and he was looking for someone to blame.
-
Re: King vows upset;; Zab a no show!
Hopkins is more disciplined then Zab. So he can do all that. Zab is not that disciplined or focused no matter who he faces. he will be for Floyd but will he be consistant is the question.

Never heard you even remotely pessimistic towards Zab before? What's up?? I sense quiet confidence!!
