Rocky Marciano on Ali: "In my prime I woulda killed him"

Re: Rocky Marciano on Ali: "In my prime I woulda killed him"
Ali would have stopped little Rocky. He would have had fun with him before stopping him on cuts.
Prime Joe Louis would have destroyed Rocky.

Re: Rocky Marciano on Ali: "In my prime I woulda killed him"
I don't think Rocky would have killed Cassius.
But, Rocky would have had collapsed Cassius' 'Bowels' if they had fought.
The poor bastard Clay would have been constipated for 3-Months after that bout.

Tyson would destroy rocky

Well,
He was 7" taller, and would have out-weighed Rocky by 40 lbs.
A slight British advantage, don't you think.

No maybe about it, one clean punch and Rocky would have had his nose busted. Let's face it Rocky had no defence.

I think he was caught between two stools, to young to fight a prime Louis and retired before Liston and Ali.
Prime for Prime ? I'd have to go with Ali. I think from youtube clips I've seen of Rocky, he would have been to slow and a prime Ali, would stayed on the outside, winging and slashing punches at him and busting him up and maybe causing a cut stoppage. But if Marciano, were able to close the range and find his shots, or leap in and catch Ali then that could have been interesting.
But Ali had a cast iron jaw, so he would not have crumbled. Marciano didn't hit as hard as Foreman and from what I have seen of him, he did not have the bobbing head movement and speed of a Frazier. But this is all speculation. It's always hard to compare great fighters from different eras

Something to consider...
M arciano would shade to his right. Frazier, to line up his hook, went to his left. Much easier to hit Frazier than M arciano. Also Ali didn't fight much going to his right; like most jab and move guys he follows his lead foot.
He could do that with Frazier and move away from Frazier's hook. If he moves left with the rock he moves to rocky's right. If Ali moves to his own right he kills his own jab.

styles make fights. This would have been a shocker. Ali would have been FUCKED if he fought Marciano.

Greynotsoold is just asking us to consider something it does not mean he think Rocky would beat Ali.
Anyway we have established that Bruno and Audley would have beaten Rocky.

Rocky did come up from below too ko Joe Louis though! http://www.sugarboxing.com/wp-conten...xample-001.gif

Ali would not be able to hit Marciano with the jab or the hook.
Marciano is all wrong for Ali

Re: Rocky Marciano on Ali: "In my prime I woulda killed him"
Ali toyed with the best hev division in history.
Marciano struggled in the worst.
-
Re: Rocky Marciano on Ali: "In my prime I woulda killed him"
I agree. Ali would not have connected one jab on Marciano.
He would've connected several hundred jabs on Marciano.

Re: Rocky Marciano on Ali: "In my prime I woulda killed him"
Look i love Rocky and all but his face would of looked like a bloody Vag after Ali pounded his face. I mean the speed and the reach would be to much of a disadvantage Rocky not a heavyweight really. I mean Ali had a 15 inch reach advantage and about 20 pounds on him not same weight class.

Yup.
The man struggled with a post Baroudi Ezzard Charles in a fight that would have been stopped in any era that follwed and was thorougly outboxed from pillar to post by a 50 year old Walcott. The punch he landed on Walcott to save the day would have never landed on Ali because Ali never hunched over and walked into a punch like that in his lifetime. And the mary's that he landed late in the Charles fight would have found nothing but air against Ali. I respect what Rocky accomplished and all but damn....

If Ali had to choose a great champion to fight Rocky would be his choice as he would have been the easiest one for him.

So I guess you are calling ali a liar when all ranked Rocky Marciano way way ahead of Joe Frazier. And Joe Frazier was who he said was the greatest fighter of all time after him. But when he look back on the fights and the fighters he was very clear in saying that Rocky Marciano was ranked number one of all time and May have beaten him

Ali was being respectful to Rocky.

Re: Rocky Marciano on Ali: "In my prime I woulda killed him"
If Brock should hate a post-Marciano heavyweight, it should be Larry Holmes.
After all, it was Holmes who said Marciano wasn't fit to carry his (Larry's) jock.
Ali was always respectful when referring to Marciano.
But that doesn't mean he wouldn't have beat his ass in a boxing match.

Re: Rocky Marciano on Ali: "In my prime I woulda killed him"
I honestly can't think of a scenario where Marciano beats Ali prime vs prime. Ali has pretty much every advantage you can think of, with his size and speed advantages being significant. Think about it: if Liston, Frazier, and Foreman couldn't stop Ali, how the hell could Marciano????
Prime Ali moved laterally very well, maybe best ever at heavy, and he could flick his jab regardless of which way he was moving. Rocky was an extremely tough man, but his cut prone skin would've NEVER held up to a prime Ali's jab and hook. Remember the mess he made of Henry Cooper?!?!?
The truth is that Marciano, along with Evander Holyfield, is one of the top two ATG overachievers in the history of the sport. The other truth is that he came along at the right time and was able to overcome his limitations to beat a cast of past their prime fighters such as Walcott, Charles, and Moore. Two of those guys were really only light heavies. Tough to see Rocky beating Liston, and Floyd Pattersons speed and skill advantages may have been enough to beat Rocky as well.

Re: Rocky Marciano on Ali: "In my prime I woulda killed him"
I love the rock but he is cw thats pretty much were it ends is he atg yea of course but he is 5'10 and 190 tops that pretty much lhw cutting weight. He was a guy with huge punch and heart that was around in a weak era of heavyweights his best wins is against fighters in there late 30's and were even 40.
