Haye comeback fight on free to air tv
Just read that Sky and BT sports have no interest in showing it on January 16th.
ITV, Channel 5 and Spike tv are all said to be possibles to show it.
Should be revealed in the next few days.
-
Re: Haye comeback fight on free to air tv
hmmm wonder why
who is promoting it?
-
I think Haye himself is and the fact hes being trained by Mcguigan jnr makes me think ITV might grab this with a bit of history they had showing Frampton fights.
If Haye wins this then he's automatically right back in the mix whether people are sick of him or not.
Fact is he's facing a top 10 ranked fighter which is risky for anyone after 3 year lay off ;)

does the wink mean you think it is risky or not risky?
its an acceptable comeback fight for such a layoff I think
-
I do think it's risky, this guy is coming for the KO and can punch.
Its a long time out and we don't know if Hayes shoulder injury will allow him to have the same power as he once did.
His second biggest weapon was his athleticism and he was always fast but again can he still be after doing nothing for years?
There's a good chance this could end the same way as Hattons comeback.
Hope im wrong because Haye back in the deep end is brilliant for the division.
We will see in a few weeks.

The Guy is ranked with one of the governing bodies, so it's definitely an acceptable comeback fight after his lay off.
I think Sky and Box Nation are just not investing until they've seen if it all comes about. They're playing the "teach him a lesson " game and making out they're not interested.
Fair enough, but if he wins and wins well, they'll be falling over themselves to get him on their Channel.
Also , they know Haye is skint, so it's a bit of a poker match. Joshua v Whyte was PPV, nobody can tell me a Joshua v Haye fight wouldn't sell.
-
If Haye wins by a huge KO then a Joshua fight will be massive, not quite Wembley but maybe Watford FC which is AJs manor and he's already said it's him dream to fight there.
Could do 30,000 plus that one.
-
Re: Haye comeback fight on free to air tv
Hope ITV get it and he fights on there regularly but I can see him take on AJ next if he wins because the longer he waits the better AJ will get.

Re: Haye comeback fight on free to air tv

Which is why many of the channels do not want to touch this fight.

And what will happen? Haye will attempt to get some kind of deal done, it'll fuck with the fight date, it'll get postponed, Haye will do what he always does which is bark on the tv shows but nobody will be there to listen to him because Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua have eclipsed him by doing their work in the ring.
David Haye will be LUCKY to get a fight vs Dillain Whyte after all this shit and when Haye's speed and timing go he'll be absolutely wrecked in the ring and he'll go on fighting a bunch of bums and gunning for the British title because he'll have blown all his money and it couldn't happen to a nicer guy.....the fucking prick

Re: Haye comeback fight on free to air tv
I did not realise he lost all his money.

If Haye wasn't so full of shit and up his own ass he might make a good commentator

He nearly got thown in jail in Dubai for fraud as a cheque for £250,000 bounced for his property and a friend had to bail him out.
He also recently sold his training ring on ebay.
Now im presuming that someone who jas as much money as Haye has made would not feel the need to get the highest bidder on a poxy old training ring that would realisticly be worth probably around a grand. Some mug paid £70,000 for it!!
I actually find that hard to believe. No one was bidding on it to start with then bang! I reckon those bids were fake to save face that no one wanted to pay big money for tat.
They were even advertising it as the ring that Haye sparred with Justin Beiber in;D It has no historical value seeing as he never did anything great at heavy at became the but of lots of pulling out jokes in world boxing.
"This is THE ring that David Haye pulled out of many fights in and the same ring he pretended to retire rather than lose to Tyson Fury"
-
Re: Haye comeback fight on free to air tv
Assumed SKY would show it; using it for hype to build a Joshua fight later this year. A bit like when the Beeb stuck Hide on Audley bills early on.

Ross, please , please be honest. Do you honestly believe that any pro boxer , not necessarily David Haye, would give up a £5 millIon purse, have a shoulder op, deliberately put your career on hold and virtually bankrupt themselves because they were scared of Tyson Fury? 😕

He was scared of a loss because of how you all percieved Fury. He knew the reality that Tyson is going to be very hard to beat and he wasnt having a good time in training. Hes pulled out loads before if his sparring partners are getting the better of him.
Haye is justm an after thought and never achieved anything more than Chagaev. He was just another belt holder and never will be recognosed as THE heavyyweight champ like Tyson now is and it hurts him and his fans who delusionally repeat that hes still the saviour of the division;D

Re: Haye comeback fight on free to air tv
I hate it when a fighter has to fight because he's broke. I'm a big fan of David Haye. I would love to see him fight again. I hope he has something left.

So he had a Shoulder op so that it looked realistic, and then thought "I'd better have 3 years off as well" so it looks realistic, and then goes to the brink of bankruptcy? Ah, ok then.

Haye was injured.
This wasn't a manny pac injury.
Haye is good for the division..let's see what happens.

Yes Haye is brilliant for the division.
3 pull outs on the run fans and TV co panies wasting millions. Haye is the best thing ever for the heavyweight division!;D
Lets not forget just how good he actually was as well. Lost every round to Wlad and got deducted points for crawling round on the floor and blamed it all on a little toe;D
Brilliant!;D
-
Thats one fight he was dreadful in.
His speed and power is still exciting and you will still watch his fights.
If fury wins the rematch against Wlad then he should fight wilder and leave haye hanging for a long time..

Thats the only fight we can judge his heavyweight career on. The one that mattered. Even the Valuev fight was dull and he was very lucky to get the decision. The Harrison "fight" was pathetic until Haye actually decided to throw some punches in the third. Harrison was wiped out inside a round by Price!!
Tyson Fury has shown the world how good he is and how poor Haye is. He chased him out of the division and made Hayes effort against Wlad look very week in comparrison.
Haye is not going to do anything in this division, he didnt really do anything before. He talks and idiots listen and oart with there money but when its all said and done he wont go down as a great heavyweight and he will still be broke. No TV station wants to buy his next fight and its only about 3 weeks away, not even sky and that says something!
-
Re: Haye comeback fight on free to air tv
You don't need to have famous fighters on the same channel to build a fight these days. Look at Frampton-Quigg. It's different with unkowns like Dillian Whyte of course, which is why he was chief support to AJ for a few fights to sell him.
Whether or not you like Haye, once he bangs this fella out - forget that top 10 alphabet nonsense, just watch him on youtube, he's pony - plenty of current top heavyweights will come running, and with them so will SKY PPV.

Re: Haye comeback fight on free to air tv
just interested to know
how many PPV buys did haye klit do and how many did fury klit do?
I like both fighters, i'm not against either and my knowledge is limited but I would guess that haye at his peak generated a lot more money than fury has at his peak per fight
and it probably wouldn't take too much for haye to be worth more per fight again that fury is
haye just seems like more of an attraction to me despite history

I would let Fury get the rematch out of the way and a win over another top 5 guy before you proclaim him as the best thing since sliced bread if I were you. The job isn't even half way done, he may well have been the right guy in the right place at the right time.
Ortiz made Wlads effort against Jennings look pretty ordinary too.
Haye might be a bit of a cock but poor he is not (claimed money troubles aside)

How many world title fights had Tyson Fury had before he faced Klitschko? How many had Haye had?;D;D;D:cool:
If Haye was the attraction you think he is Sky would have snapped him up, or any other channel for that matter but as it is, no one is interested and no one has picked it up yet and potentially the whole show could go down the pan ruinng him completely fnancially. Dont be surprised if he pulls out again due to form.

He doesnt really need to prove himself. Beating Wlad in Germany has already done that. Stop rubbing your eyes people because yes it really did happen. Tyson Fury became the best fighter in the world;D

I picked Fury to win by the way and he by no stretch of even the tiniest imagination became the best fighter in the World.
I know you're going to dine out on this one pick like you're the only person in the World that picked it, but it is going to bite you in the arse at some point so I would enjoy it ;D
-
Re: Haye comeback fight on free to air tv
Wlad inherited the top pound for pound slot after Mayweather retired. No one could supposedly beat Klitschko or even give him a fight especially in Germany yet Tyson does it with ease and hes not the best fighter in the world?
Makes me laugh how everyone keeps saying the division is wide open now Klitschko has lost. He was seen so head and shoulders above everyone and got beat easy so maybe the division has now been made interesting while Tyson unifies but beating the best fighter in the world easily doesnt suggest that the division is now wide open for everyone. It says Tyson will dominate for a while.
-
Re: Haye comeback fight on free to air tv
Kinda depends on who's P4P list you're talking about doesn't it, I'm sure there's one to fit every argument. For me, Wlad, and now Fury are not even top five P4P. They are there out of obligation and people picking P4P lists using the wrong criteria.
Again your assumption is based on Fury beating a version of Klitschko that is something like his best. He may well have beaten a shell, or something close to. We will see.

do you think after 3 or 4 world title fights that fury will earn as much as haye did/could?

Tyson will be bigger than Haye by far.
His first workd title fight at heavy was the biggest world heavyweight title fight event probably since Lewis fought Tyson. He as a pay per view fighter in his first world title fight on a show with no undercard. Tyson made the interest.
It was Wlads biggest pay day. The biggest audience in attendance probably biggest purse in any division ever to a first time title challenger. All this and all time great top ten scalp.
-
Re: Haye comeback fight on free to air tv
Wlad's biggest purse? He got $17.5 million for Povetkin.
According to some sources Wlad-Fury/AJ Whyte did similar numbers just over 400,000. So AJ is on a par with Fury in his first British title fight.
Haye-Wlad was reported at around a million buys.

This is the guy Haye is fighting. I don't care how much better he might be than he looks here, he is dogshit and this is not a fight. How is the guy top ten ranked? Joke.

Re: Haye comeback fight on free to air tv
if haye wlad was a million buys and fury wlad was 400k and wlad got 20 million to fight fury and a lot less to fight haye then the purse size mustn't be that dependent on PPV

AJ just earned himself £3 million for the Whyte fight, it's just been announced

If there is any fools in this situation it is certainly not Hearn.
If what you say is true Hearn has got his fighter, who is a novice, £3 Million for fighting another novice.
That seems like brilliant promoting to me...
