Sergey Kovalev vs. Jean Pascal II
On HBO January 30.
The first fight was exciting, I expect more of the same in this one.
There has been talk of Kovalev-Stevenson and Kovalev-Ward. But Sergey shouldn't overlook Pascal, he's the former linear light heavyweight champion and will have home advantage.

Re: Sergey Kovalev vs. Jean Pascal II
Big truck coming for Pascal. Again. Stevenson doesn't any of that its pretty obvious.
-
Re: Sergey Kovalev vs. Jean Pascal II
I think kovalev takes him out earlier this time unless Pascal tries to just survive. Psychologically, it takes a toll on you once you have been stopped and know that it's possible. Kovalev won't let Pascal have his moments like he did in the first fight. I'm excited for this fight because I really like kovalev, but I don't like the rematch because it had such a clear winner.

Re: Sergey Kovalev vs. Jean Pascal II
Haymon is praying that somehow Pascal pulls a rabbit out of the hat. Not sure how long he can play these games of charades. Maybe he should make Stevenson and Thurman roommates since they both work part time.
I'll be cheering my ass off for Pascal. Its not out of the question. Some of these Russians might go a little soft like the Cubans over times soaking up all this craziness.

Yes Kovalev should stop him earlier, but credit to pascal for having the balls to want this rematch. Crazy baatard.

Re: Sergey Kovalev vs. Jean Pascal II
Don't think a rematch was needed. Pascal is hard-as-nails and fights when hurt, but overrall it was a onesided hiding he got last time.
-
Re: Sergey Kovalev vs. Jean Pascal II
Pascal's last opponent, Yuniesky Gonzales, deserved this fight against Kovalev over Pascal.
Effin robbery that it was against Pascal. Hopefully Gonzales gets his shot at someone for something...

Maybe Gonzalez-Ward?
Looks like Ward-Barrera may not happen, so perhaps Ward needs an opponent.

What happened with Barrera-Ward? Thought was close to done deal. Gonzalez is even further back after losing close to unranked Shabranskyy few weeks ago.

Ward probably wants a catch weight cause there's nothing like giving a no hoper no hope.

You serious with another CW? :lolhaha: If that's the case this guy is a cemented fraud! Barrera is solid for a true lt hvy jump, but seriously over Wards con job.

It's the money that makes the big balls, me thinks!

I thought Gonzales deserved to beat pascal but he lost again after pascal so I'm not sure he deserves it

That may well be but the money cant seem to convince Adonis Stevenson to fight Kovalev. Pascal is more desperate though and not in such a lofty position.

Gonzalez lost last time out in another close fight to a Ukranian fighter. Hed get destroyed by Kov.
No interest in the Pascal rematch. Cant see how he can win.

Re: Sergey Kovalev vs. Jean Pascal II
I think Kovalev will stop Pascal properly this time.
-
Re: Sergey Kovalev vs. Jean Pascal II
Don't get this fight either, first one was fun, but Pascal fought the only way he could. He can't work for 3 minutes a round, you can't rest in there with Kovalev, I don't see what he can do besides go out on his shield again. I wanted to see Pascal-Stevenson, that would be an interesting fight.
-
Re: Sergey Kovalev vs. Jean Pascal II
The worst case scenario of this fight is if Pascal is tentative plays defence all night. But the odds of him doing that and running from Kov all night long is slim to none.
-
Re: Sergey Kovalev vs. Jean Pascal II
He doesn't have the skills or the legs to do that anyways, Kovalev will still land on him. Pascal was almost stopped trying to feel out Kovalev last time and so to his credit threw it all to the wind and made it interesting. He must be getting paid pretty well to want this again.
-
Re: Sergey Kovalev vs. Jean Pascal II
It's probably the best available opponent for Kovalev currently in terms of a dance partner to keep him active until the Ward fight. There are up and comers who would arguably make a better test for Kovalev than somebody he's already beaten but nobody who can fill an arena and has the name recognition for TV like Pascal. So it suits both of them. Pascal gets another big payday in one of his last big fights and Kovalev also gets a big payday and stays busy for Ward.
-
Re: Sergey Kovalev vs. Jean Pascal II
This fight is kinda pointless but as of right now there not many who could fill the spot. I like when fighters will take fights to stay active even though some are not the best it is better then not fighting then you just get rusty and that is not a good thing so what can you do really.

Re: Sergey Kovalev vs. Jean Pascal II
In all the fights I have seen Pascal in, he does not do better in rematches.
-
Re: Sergey Kovalev vs. Jean Pascal II
Another Kovalev KO coming up.

Re: Sergey Kovalev vs. Jean Pascal II
-
Re: Sergey Kovalev vs. Jean Pascal II
Kovalev racist piece of shit.
-
Re: Sergey Kovalev vs. Jean Pascal II
Kovalev has apologised for any offence caused and I believe him.
Kov will stop Pascal, he hates him from what I read.
-
Re: Sergey Kovalev vs. Jean Pascal II
Pascal might feel he can sharp shoot Kovalev with blind counters but wouldn't be surprised to see Kovalev box more than expected early. His boxing skill and subtle sets ups off jab are overlooked once the ceiling caves in. Doubt he'll get lost in overconfidence. Pascal may do well to attack from the jump or be knocked off balance all night.
-
Re: Sergey Kovalev vs. Jean Pascal II
I like how Pascal boxes, even though he missed a lot against Kovalev. Pascal has greater talent than Kovalev, but Kovalev is very efficient. This when we say "hard work beats talent"

Re: Sergey Kovalev vs. Jean Pascal II
I don't envy Pascal at all in this one. Kov is a mean fighter and he is coming to hurt Pascal. I agree with those predicting an earlier stoppage win for Kov. Pascal starts promoting full time after this beating.
-
Re: Sergey Kovalev vs. Jean Pascal II
Kovalev is must-see TV. He's sinister and makes it appear at least that he really enjoys putting the hurt on his opponents. As sick as that is, it means we have to watch him, even when he is in a rematch with Pascal that no one thought was necessary.
-
Re: Sergey Kovalev vs. Jean Pascal II
Yea the russain is very fun to watch and he is a pretty good boxer on top of being a ko puncher. If he keeps improving he has a great chance to rule the division for a while and it will be a fun division while is the champ there are some good match ups to come i think going to be fun to watch it.
-
Re: Sergey Kovalev vs. Jean Pascal II
I'll be cheering my ass off for my countryman but I just don’t think Roach can do much to re-invent Jean at this point. Be great if he could tighten him up a little with a few less hail marry shots that he's getting timed on now that he's older and a fraction slower.

Yes. I'm rooting for the good guy, Sergey Kovalev.
I know the despicable Max Kellerman tries to brand him as evil, but Sergey is actually a fearless road warrior and a good, decent, honorable man who loves his wife and child more than anything else.
Pascal in contrast comes across as a selfish crybaby who plays the race card to gain sympathy.
