Isis destroys 1400 year old christian monastery
Yup, the bastards razed a 1400 year old monastery in Baghdad. That's some disgusting stuff.
Re: Isis destroys 1400 year old christian monastery
If true it is very sad. But I would rather they concentrate on 'razing' symbolic buildings, than slaughtering people.
We need to get to grips with this problem; we need to talk to them.

Although certainly the lesser of evils I appreciate all religions. These bastards can't even deal with buildings? It is another example of the difficulty or impossibility of negotiating with these idiots.

Negotiation is needed to solve the problem. I know that seems a tough pill to swallow; but swallow it we must.

That's the point I'm making, these guys aren't interested in dialogue as they don't have a middle ground.

I suspect they do have legitimate gripes in amongst the 'extremism'. For them to have a 'caliphate' they clearly have an administrative structure, as well as an 'army'.
As I suggested we are going to have to do this 'holding our noses', but I think it is needed.

No doubt there are legitimate gripes but there literature is of the submit or die attitude. Muslims in the region who disagree with them are killed. I don't think its a matter of holding your nose I think there view of Christians, Jews and all other religions makes it impossible for them to negotiate.

You would have to hold your nose and guard your women folk too, cause they would be trying to pull you out of the way to get to them.
Re: Isis destroys 1400 year old christian monastery
I read somewhere on the internet that they also destroyed a 2200 year old Christian monastery in Aleppo.
Re: Isis destroys 1400 year old christian monastery
Dunno man once you start putting people in cages and torching them alive there's not much left to say.
The mentality is well beyond direct affiliation or a banner. There are somethings and actions that people cannot come back from.
Re: Isis destroys 1400 year old christian monastery
would pulling all involvement in the middle east help?
Re: Isis destroys 1400 year old christian monastery

They destroy their own monuments and carve up their own history. The Taliban destroyed the buddhas of Bamiyan.
Think about it really though. According to most religious doctrine, all of these things are idol worship. Besides, look what Christians have done to Christmas. Or perhaps atheism caused it. Several church Orgs claim to have the cup Christ drank out of. Has anyone seen the Catholic one? Blown glass and diamond/gold studded. Exactly the kind of mug Christ would have used. The recognized Christian world mocks its own doctrine as a matter of course and yet cry out when a symbol of that hypocrisy is destroyed cause of its age.
These people know our every weakness and how to exploit it. They can shut down an entire city or country with one phone call.
Just get out of that part of the world or it never ends.
