Is there anyone out there that still defends/supports Adonis Stevenson?

Besides his own mother, I mean. After last night's fight I just felt this thread needed to be made. I joked on the fight thread about Stevenson rushing the ring and having to be restrained....... and lo and behold if the damn thing doesn't materialize a few minutes later. :D

In any case, it was comical. HBO paid practically zero attention to him.... and it looked like he was literally begging to be held back by his undersized companions. They should've just let him go to see what he'd actually do.

We've all been clamoring for a fight between Stevenson and Kovalev, without realizing that this clown (Adonis) will never intentionally get into a ring with Sergey. Forget alphabet orgs.... forget rival promoters..... forget negotiations. The planets could line up tomorrow and Stevenson will still find a way to duck Kov. It's too bad there isn't a mechanism in boxing that would FORCE a blatant ducker like Adonis to fight the other top guy.

Stevenson's a joke, and we must all now turn our attention to Andre Ward. Problem is Ward fights like once every millennium and there's no guarantee he won't take to ducking Kovalev also.

Is Kovalev ill-fated to run out of opponents?

For me I'm a situational supporter lol. Not sure if he's ducking or Haymon is but one would have to think that he could demand the Kov fight but then again one would think the same thing about slippery Al's entire stable that seems to be composting.

If he fought Kovalev I would support him mainly because I think Kovalev is a bigger tool. Same with Ward but I would not lose any sleep if he lost to either of them.

Pretty much sums it up ;D Stevenson clamoring like a guy who knows its passing him by.

I like Kovalev he has pretty good skills to go with that power , its a farce if Stevenson doesn't fight him .

Good thing words alone posed the biggest offence to Stevenson rather than getting punched in the face by this guy. Kov would leave him stepping in stiff post holes getting caught on the end and going out like a faded Jeff Lacy :-X.

No, Stevenson changed networks and then found a way to make the Hop fight fall through. Stevenson is a clown who was lucky to catch Dawson and Cloud on their worst nights. Complete fraud.

I'm not even sure Canadians support Adonis at this point, despite the fact that Canada is Stevenson's "adopted" home. He crowd seemed to cheer/support Kov when he called Stevenson out. I just can't stand the guy, and think he is a complete fraud who keeps selecting inferior and past their best opponents so he can hold on to his title longer. That would be fine if he wasn't constantly running his mouth about fighting the guys (Kov/HOP) who really do fight the best available competition.

I've never supported him and he has been ducking kov since he won the title basically. Originally he said he was fight bhop so he couldn't fight kov but then kov fought bhop then everybody wanted him to fight Pascal for a big Canadian fight then kov fought him. Stevenson won't ever take a risk even against lesser opponents than kov.

No. I'm Canadian but that's not worth saying as Stevenson isn't, and I root against Canadian fighters if anything. Imo, the guy is a one hit wonder, until he does anything else at least. I also don't buy for a second that circumstances of any kind would make an otherwise decent person turn to pimping and assaulting women, that's something that most people just don't have in them. He is a pile of dogshit as far as I'm concerned, and he honestly strikes me as almost sub human just behaviorally.

Stevenson is not fighting anyone dangerous as Kov has and Adonis looks like he is just trying to cash as many defences before anyone notices.

No, I think he is overrated anyway. Kovalev would torture him for 4 rounds before finishing it in 5. Stevenson is old and I think his chin is dodgy. You cannot have a dodgy chin against Kovalev.

I don't understand his team's thinking at all. He's 39. He's not going to last much longer. He'd make more money from the Kovalev fight than he will in three fights against Fonfara-level opponents.

I did not know he was so fucking old he better get the fight while he can. I mean he can get kncoked out make his money and go on with his life he sure as shit not getting any better at that age. I can not belive the fight has been made yet they both been champs in lhw divsion a while now.

Take a look at the 70's/80's and the era of King. Haymon’s professor. I'll say one this for them, they sure have lasting power. Even Capone got his but not these guys. Untouchable for reasons unknown.
