Seriously? It was about as definitive a stylistic shut out as there is, of course not. Marquez never really adjusted to WW imo, every single decent opponent he fought above 130 gave him hell, when he was a lot better than most of them.
Jmm looked better at welterweight after the Floyd fight but he was not good enough to beat Bradley and was getting busted up by Manny so no.
Jmm was knocked down at lightweight before he beat Katasidis whereas Floyd struggled with Castillo but he did not have the same style as Marquez.
Maybe at super feather and feather weight he stood a better chance against Floyd.
Nope a fast counter puncher will beat a slow counter puncher and Floyd is too damn good against Marquez at any weight.

Marquez at feather was much deeper and sharp than the chunky Welter he will end at. While he needed to unofficially beat Manny 3 times to claim 1, Floyd was always steps ahead with ring control and speed forcing Marquez to play aggressor. The one or two divisions heavier didn't hurt either.
The fight would have been just as one sided at 130 though, being realistic. I think Floyd could have stopped JMM if he had gone for it.

I think those great fighter could afford a lapse in concentration as Floyd was never a concussive hitter but not an off night. Floyd could not afford to lose concentration with Leonard or Hearns as they had power to hurt little Floyd.Quote:

Ok as a Marquez fan, I'm biased here. I was a floyd fan early on too. At a lighter weight Floyds even faster than he was was at 147, but I think at that time he was a little more vulnerable too as he refined over time and started closing the gaps in his style (which allowed him to fight his less open defensive style after his legs went). I think give Marquez the same number of tries at 130 as he had with pac and, JMM and nacho eventually solve the puzzle. Its not very realistic, (3 or 4 tries) but Nacho and JMM have proved themselves to be pretty good strategists and I think could pull of a victory on early floyd before size became a bigger factor.
He has also never been totally shut down by anyone else. At 130 it would have been more one sided if anything imo, and MArquez would have never gotten more than one try because nobody would need to see it again.Quote:

Look, many times hypotheticals just won’t work and this is one of them. Marquez would have had a better chance against Floyd at 130/135 then any time that followed. Floyd took more chances back then but they could have never met at that weight.Quote:

Marquez was/is a completely different fighter since the Manny obsession. He fights more like Lamotta. The entire gains in weight were in prep for one man and landing that one punch. Imo he actually became a little one dimensional. I think Floyd would have an easier time with the welter version of Marquez then he did against the flabby one.
