Just watcehd Valuev vs. Etienne

I didn't have a problem with alot of his stuff... people said he was a bubbling oaf, and maybe he was against Ruiz, but for the most part he did pretty good against Etienne though he did catch a few overhand rights... they seemed like a little fly hitting him, and his jab seemed to hurt Etienne more... Its funny because at one point Etienne runs around him and they get tied up and Valuev knocks him hard to the ground.

When a boxer misses a punch, the air hurts Ettienne

The only two people to KO him are/were Valuev and Mike Tyson... Lamon Brewster and Francois Botha both went the distance with him, and Calvin Brock TKO'ed him ,but couldn't knock him out.

I think Lamon Brewster tore his ACL in the first round right?

He took a first round dive against Tyson! It was f*cking pathetic!

I feel sorry for Clifford Etienne with the robbery and everything. He's not a very good boxer and tries to make a living, then he gives up and does something foolish sometimes.

Yea well what does that say about Ruiz and Donald?Donald had only lost to Riddick Bowe,Kirk Johnson and Vitali Klitschko before he lost to Valuev.Ruiz had only been outboxed by Roy Jones,Holyfield since 1996!It must say something that a guy of his size has the ability to outbox much smaller quicker guys.

Here's the thing about Valuev (Val-you-Ev) that really shocked me...the guy can actually put combinations together.

I saw the fights against Donald, Nobles, & Vidoz (have'nt seen the Ruiz fight) about a month ago...& in the past I had thought that he was decent...but involved in a lot of fixes...back to the point...he has a good knowledge of what to do & how to do it & he does it...but he telegraphs everything...scratch that cliche phrase...he advertises what he's selling to early.

Everything that he puts together & throws is negated because the man across from him knows its coming & dodges it.

I don't like him...nor am I sold...but there are plenty of matches out there that would be interesting to see...just because of the size advantage & the fact that he can box...just not effectively or on a world championship level IWO.

I am not sold either I was just suprised that he wasn't a bumbling as people first depicted him so I thought in my mind a 7 foot tall version of Toney vs. Rahman except without the core body control that Toney has always had.

He's alright his combinations make him more impressive than he is I guess, and like Wacko said you can see everything he throws a mile away except his jab, and sometimes his cross following a jab.

Agreed. He does know what to do...but he puts it on a billboard in neon lights before he does it...honestly...I think that that's his major detraction.

Valuev is a freak, and will not ever be legitimate champ.

As for Etienne=could have, would have, should have, obeyed the law.

I think it's safe to say by the time ettienne fought valuev he didn't want to box anymore.

It would be interesting to see how good his chin really is... If its good enough he MIGHT, and I mean MIGHT as in very little chance land that perfect blow on Wladimir because he has alot of power and knock the Klit out.

I was impressed with his jab. With big guys like him it always seems to me that they dont punch full force. Maybe I am just expecting earth shattering power from a guy that size, but it does not seem that he has the power you would expect from a guy his size. I thought that he worked his left hand good good but seemed kind of awkward with his right hand.

I saw portions of his fights with Ruiz and Larry Donald and he's certainly a clean fighter if not a skilled one. He can't fight worth a darn on the inside, but I suppose I will excuse him that limitation since he's a full head taller than his typical opponent, who lunges in and lands 1 or 2 shots and then puts his head on Valuev's chest. He also doesn't get any leverage on his shots, but he doesn't need much. His biggest weakness seems to be that except for an occasional jab that lands, he tends to be strictly a counterpuncher and his opponents often get off 1st. Certainly that was the case with Ruiz and Donald. I guess that's the trouble with being so big. The nerve impulses from the brain to the arms and hands take a little longer to get there! ;D

:coolclick: That is a good point, I would like to see him be a little more aggresive on occasion. You know really take that shot to knock some guys head off. I dont think he would have to do it to much, just enough so that the other person knows that he has the power to do it. I think he would earn a little bit more respect that way.

Alot of heavyweights could beat Valuev and Knock Him out. Wlad, Byrd, and alot of better heavyweights could beat him. He is big don't get me wrong but he doesn't use his height for the better of him. Ruiz the Loser pretty much beat him what does that tell you. Cliff is an awful fighter and he is probably one of the worst fighters ever. P.S. Vitali Just lost his mayorship so he is coming back

Vitlai isn't going to return to boxing, he doesn't need boxing like some other fighters to make a living.He will still be involved in politics one way or the other or at least manage his company K2 promotions.To many years of kickboxing took it's toll on his body and I am sure he isn't going to risk it just for a payday.
