Amir Khan v Saul Alvarez
It seems Khan is training very hard. Could he pull it off.
This is a good listen.

Re: Amir Khan v Saul Alvarez
Canelo should overpower him and really hand out a beating, but Khan needs a knockout to win anyway....just look at how Cotto-Canelo played out
-
Re: Amir Khan v Saul Alvarez
Khan has speed and I could see him build a lead before getting stopped but if he kept it up for 36 minutes then I can see him getting a decision.
-
Re: Amir Khan v Saul Alvarez
Alvarez was awarded the "diamond belt" which means even if he did lose he would somehow be world champion. Should he win which most suspect he will then vacate or drop the "regular" one that he coveted fraudulently and take this fraud no doubt to an all new level.

Damn! If they are being that corrupt about it then maybe Khan will not even get the decision.

See again why fights like Ortiz-Berto II are good for the sport when nothing of note is on the line.

Khan gets props from me win or lose. Canelo shouldn't be respected if he has to squeeze out a win.

from what I saw on youtube, which of course could be "for the media", there is clear decline in speed of bulked up Khan when doing mitts ...

What do you mean about Cotto-Canelo? You didn't have Cotto winning did you?

Re: Amir Khan v Saul Alvarez
Virgil Hunter advised Khan's dad to not take the fight. What? He sounds really confident about Khan's chances... blimey.

Re: Amir Khan v Saul Alvarez
Khan cant lose this fight. Gonna be a onesided schooling. Canelos face be a bloody mess by the end of the fight. Khan at 4/1 with Marathonbet. Easy money!

Its my Ross moment :D I really just dont think Canelo is any good

Re: Amir Khan v Saul Alvarez
Canelo fought 30-40 taxi bums, but the real fight is the real fight, nothing can replace it. His team did the right thing before throwing him in last 5 fights. Chavez Sr. aslo started like that and it gave him INSANE confidence later in this career. Khan has been in tougher fights , it wore him down, his confidence and chin are under question. Easy win for Canelo

I can understand people feeling Canelo is overrated and I believe taking this fight is a lose-lose and could come back to bite him in the ass.
But I'm curious, where would you put him in
a. The LMW ratings ?and
b. The MW ratings ?
Add to that , where you would put Khan in the WW ratings?
-
Re: Amir Khan v Saul Alvarez
At LMW i believe Lara, Charlo and Andrade are better than him. He is slightly better than Trout. LMW is a really poor division in my mind.
At MW I dont rate him. Completely unproven and I could very easily see Lee, Quillen or Sanders beat him.
Khan at welter is different as welter is pretty strong. I dont think there is much between Bradley, Khan, Porter, Thurman, Brook and Garcia and would probably have Khan at least 50/50 with any of them. Pac is probably still the man in the div with him beating Bradley so easily and would make him a decent fav over Khan.

Well , fair enough . We'll have to agree to disagree. As soon as you said Lee would beat Canelo, I knew we'd be miles apart. 😉

A 6'2 Middle with genuine power could be a handful for Canelo. Id definitely give him a shot against Canelo. He had close fights with Saunders and Quillen.

And Mayweather - Canelo with the ridiculously bent scoring

Did you have Lara beating Canelo when they fought? I just can't see it myself. Kind of agree on Charlo, assuming you mean Jermell.... I don't understand why it's his brother and not him facing Trout next, although it's still a good crossroads fight I think Jermell is clearly the more talented. Andrade seems to be doing fuck all, he looks to have one of the best jabs in the sport and I can understand favouring him over Canelo, but he just isn't doing anything.

It has mismatch written all over it. How Oscar has talked people in to this, is amazing but I don't blame Team Khan for this smash and grab.
What a guy won't do for $8M! Next.
Can anyone think of a supposedly chinny fighter who moved up a weight class or two and became more durable ?
Ashley Theopane says Khan can cause Nelo problems but I wouldn't pay too much attention to a man who's name is Ashley.

You don't give Khan a chance based on the fact he has darker skin than the obviously "WHITE" Canelo ?

Try to read my words, instead of trying to read my mind. You brought up race. Not me. However unlike you I don't joke around when I talk about race. I talk about race in a very serious manner. Because racism is serious

I had it close but thought if Lara was a bit smarter he could have won clearly. If they rematches Id fancy Lara and if the odds were similar to the last fight Id be all in on him :D

Re: Amir Khan v Saul Alvarez
Amir Khan has refused to rule out a switch from boxing to mixed martial arts ahead of one of the biggest fights of his career.
The 29-year-old is preparing for his WBC middleweight title clash against Saúl Álvarez in Las Vegas on Saturday.
But he's hinted at swapping the ring for the octagon.
"My speed would be perfect for MMA, it's hit and move. I wouldn't let anyone get close to me," Khan said.
The Olympic silver medallist has a stake in a MMA company called Super Fight league.
"We have a lot of shows in Dubai," he told reporters.
"I was at the last SFL show watching the guys at my weight and I swear, even though I have no experience of MMA, I could have stepped in and done the business.
"I really thought 'shall I go in there and do something crazy?' Lucky I didn't, I probably would have got banned from boxing.
"I've already done MMA training, grappling stuff and the other bits and pieces.
"I enjoyed it, it's good fun and is good for preparing to fight a guy like Alvarez, who likes to put the pressure on."
Khan wouldn't be the first boxer to make the switch.
Former UFC Bantamweight Champion Holly Holm, was a professional boxer before turning to mixed martial arts.
Khan has long been a UFC fan and reckons he's got the skills to take on the sport's biggest stars.
"Doing MMA training means I know the positions to be in. It's all about the feet.
"MMA is a little slower than boxing but you make up for that by using your elbows and knees.
"I can kick hard, don't worry about that. I also believe boxers punch harder than MMA fighters.
"Imagine Mike Tyson as a heavyweight hitting a guy on the floor 20 times."

Even though your trying to be sarcastic, Khan was raised in Northern England (Bolton) - Canelo was rasied in Mexico. Mexico is hotter than Bolton

.
Good question. I think more than a few questioned Cotto moving up after getting dropped by Torres and held on against Corley.
IMO he proved a sandwich or two was key as Rito and Pac pounded his face, yet he stayed upright, albeit bloody as heck.
Now Cotto was struggling to make weight, not sure of Khan having ease or difficulty making weight the past few years.

Agreed. Even before this fight I wasn't the biggest fan of Canelo. When I read the announcement I was in disbelief. The fact that he's fighting a WW instead of a middleweight is just sad in my opinion. People give GGG shit because of his resume, but at least he's fighting people in his weight class. If Canelo doesn't knock out Khan in under 6 rounds (and if it takes that long that's bad news for when he fights GGG) then my respect for him will plummet.
I'm looking forward more to the post fight interview, when Max asks him about GGG and to see what he says.

Nothing new for Canelo, remember the Josesito Lopez fight? (SMH)
That's why I don't want a great fighter like GGG waiting around for Canelo fighting weak opponents. Canelo, even with his orange head, is no carrot to chase. He's a fraud. GGG should not waste these years looking at the Chavez/Canelo types. GGG should be going for other real elite fighters.

He is no Julio Ceaser Chavez but with a good ref, commission behind him and push from the media ppv company, it is effective.

Re: Amir Khan v Saul Alvarez
Amir is getting 13 million for this fight. That’s some incredible scratch given his standing in the fight game. He's laughing at all of us skeptics. 13 million and if he lasts 6 rounds that’s 18 minutes of work. If it goes 4 rounds that’s over a million a minute. Should he pull a Leicester city out of the bag then what?

I don't mean to doubt you, but I don't believe for one second he's getting that much. is there anywhere we can see that states this?
if I'm wrong, and he is getting 13 Million , whether it be £'s or $'s, I am going to stop giving him stick and be honest enough to understand why he's taken the fight.
I say fair play to him, I don't give a flying fuck whether he wins or loses, and nor does he probably.
the lengths GBP will go to in order to avoid GGG! ;D;D;D

That’s part of life and he's not expected to win. He's already lost fights he should have won. This is all gravy man. Boxers lose. He's already won by landing the fight and the payday.
