What does Khan do now? Does he get a new trainer? Does he retire? Does he fight a featherfist in his next fight?
He retires. I think he got $2 mil plus for this fight. If he beat Canelo then a Floyd fight was open for when Floyd comes back. Floyd will do two more fights to break and surpass the record.
Brooks because he is waiting like a loyal dog wanting his pay day. Brooks should be ashamed of himself tweeting that he wants the fight next. Kell has done nothing since he won the title.
What fight will bring in the money made? If none, retire. Join Froch and do movies.
Khan has no title, nobody UK side will pay to watch him, difficult for promoters to make a big money fight here when Brook can make more in the US. Khan had his chance and blew it, strictly come dancing next for him
If I were Khan I'd retire, but if I were any fighter who had made millions and had a solid chance of being knocked out in any fight I would retire. I think he's a bit of a goof so I don't care what he does either, but he's always decent to watch. This fight doesn't affect his value at all for me, because the outcome I expected is what happened yet he gave a good account of himself prior. He has had the flaws/made the mistakes that lead to this KO for his entire career, don't see any reason to think he's damaged goods. I would have picked Brook to stop Khan regardless, it's the same fight if it gets made now that it would have been.
I don'T think he'll retire. He's still young with a big ego, he'll try to climb back the ladder because he feels like it's still possible, I am certain. As to who he would fight next? No idea. The dust has to fall and then, we'll see how it goes.
I think he probably needs a good win or two before a Brook fights gets exciting again. He's wasted 18 months chasing impossible dreams and good hidings. He had built up a head of steam with the Collazo and the Alexander wins and then undid it all with a laboured win and a period of inactivity, chasing a pay day and an ass whooping.
Maybe he can go down to 147. There's too much danger for him at 154, and he will have to be selective at 147. If i was his promoter, i'd be looking at someone like Guerrero or even Sadam Ali. There are plenty who he could theoretically beat, but he's always a mistake away from a KO. I'd be tempted to put him in with Bradley, because i think he can look good against him but then there's the worry that Bradley bombs a right hand over the top.
As a fan, i'd love to see him fight Maidana again at some point, although i'm not sure he has the durability to get through it. So yeah, i'd personally go, Guerrero/ Ali and then maybe Brook or Bradley.
Easy fight against a Malignaggi type puncher then milk it for one last pay day against Brook next May.
Another few million should be guaranteed.
Don't think he can come up with genuine excuse not to face Brook now.
I see that fight having much the same outcome as Saturday.
Still mandatory for Garcia. Either rematch and winner fights Brook in big money fight or Garcia vacates and Khan fights against a below par fighter to setup a big unification with Brook.
If Khan fights Garcia with the same discipline he showed against Canelo he'll wipe the floor with him. Fuck, i'd even give him a chance against Brook (although inevitably he'll end up stumbling around like a piss head against Brook).
I know I'm stating the obvious but that's so funny with Khan isn't it
"How will the fight go ?"
"All depends if the other guy hits him"
Am trying to think of other fighters who were like this - big Frank. Wouldn't really put Hearns in the same category but there were similarities.
And that's his excitement factor which has made him a fortune. Can't be bad. Blessed with talent and speed mind - but feather fisted for the most part.
Big Frank and Tommy had their own bombs which could end in in their favour at any time mind. Khan was decision or nothing
Paul Scrap Iron Ryan. The epitome of chin or be chinned. Fine unless the other bloke twatted him one.
Or before he won the title. It's a damn shame. He might be the best WW in the world not pretending to be retired but we will never know because his team won't match him with the good WWs. Got his belt from the weakest champion, fights 3 crap opponents and his step back up(if made) is against the newest weakest champion. It's a f'n disgrace. Oh boy, Brook is going to fight the 6th best American, everyone get excited.
For some reason Khan-Cotto intrigues me, I think it would be a good action fight, granted I am betting Amir won't want to get right back in with a heavy hitter, but IMO that's a good matchup.
There are some decent matches for him at 147 and 154, he can still get a belt. Khan vs Liam Smith in the UK?? Khan vs Kell Brook?? Khan vs Bradley??
Speaking of Tim Bradley, what a fucking shame he wasn't around when Ricky Hatton was in his pomp, what a great fight they could have had at 140!
I don't see Khan winning a title at 147. I think Spence, Brook, and Thurman would KO him.
I think that he needs to go straight for Garcia, if he can't beat who I now think is a weaker champion then maybe he should just give up. I don't think it's worth taking the long road back he does not have time. He'll end up just becoming irrelevant with so many good welterweights already out there.
I think it would but it would make things even more interesting if both guys have belts and Khan is coming off a good win.
At the same time I'm being a hypocrite for saying this because I always believe that the Tyson Fury v Price fight not happening lost the two a load of money. I just don't think that Khan will ever fight Brook his ego won't let him.
Garcia or Bradley.
Or Golovkin.
What? He'll be two times faster than Golovkin. Just keep moving up in weight. The speed will have to factor at some point.
Get back in line. He tried to jump the shark and make up overnight the 'big star' status he has clamored for and felt he deserved for some time now. Khan doesn't have the armor or 9 lives to stay at 154. Honestly the welter division is stacked up high and he knew going into Canelo that he could rebound on name regardless of result. I just don't think it's the same and the build and momentum has to suffer a bit. Khan vs Berto would be nice style wise and convenient for promotion.
We all on here NO Khans downfall he has no chin I remember Limmond dropping him early in his pro career,!
Limmond was not a power puncher the writing was on the wall.!
Khan may fight Brook nice big pay day for both and I would not mind going to watch that one.
What ever Khan is he showed some bottle he went up in weight and faced Canelo, he had a go he was brave more than most.
I think Khan is done. He was stopped and rocked all along his career, but this time he was out cold. He looked in serious trouble on the canvas and it cannot be good for the neurons getting zapped like that. Khan was lacking functioning neurons in the first place and it would be cruel to want to see that again and again. I already got a serious sense of deja vu seeing him stopped. I was watching the 5th and he got zapped and thought to myself "This is familiar" and then the next round happened and I thought "Is this a replay of a previous fight?" and then I saw he was out of it completely and realised the script had turned even more hardcore. Not cool.
Khan is so bitter and twisted that he will not fight Brooks and give him a pay day.
I think khan will target Garcia to avenge his loss.
