...and refuses 160....
I think Canelo knows GGG is getting on a bit, already. Canelo is what - 25/26. He's got time on his side. He'll wait him out until he's either visibly declined or tight at the weight.
Hopefully Golovkin can Lacy this imposter at 36 if need be. Canelo is a hype job and backed by orange dildo man and the Horribly Biased Organisation.
Canelo is Mexican and pride alone would mean he would face GGG because he would be seen as a laughing stock in his community.
Canelo should face GGG and I forget whether he is the lineal champion or not so the only thing to do is,"Prove it!" GGG is not at fault if the middleweight division is not up to snuff in the eyes of those writers and naysayers whose only joy in life is to be a pain in the ass hoping someone takes them seriously. Slap them please. Snap out of it. You are the 160 pound champion so stop manipulating weight standards and go back to the division you were a big fish in where you will be considered devastating and not an ordinary guy trying to make everyone believe he is great. Go have some lunch and make sure your promoter is not mistaken by the chef for the main course, "Chicken Delahoya." Well I am going yo dinner now after a forty five minute workout and you can bet I am not having chicken.
You cant get away with catchweights for unification bouts. As the mandatory challenger the Kazak is entitled to 160. Its written in stone.
The Wbc has repeated its demands on 15 days to either agree to fight Golovkin, vacate or be stripped. This was first reported in February. No need to repeat the order just honour it for a change. Its time for this Cherry to shit or get off the pot.
WBC Formally Orders Canelo-Golovkin With 15-Day Deadline - Boxing News
It's refreshing that more fans have grown weary of this catchweight nonsense. Oscar really believes he can spin it in a way to make it appear that GGG is ducking because he refuses to drop from his natural weight when in fact that it's the clearly the opposite.
He's trying to put the pressure on GGG, but he's underestimating fans' intelligence. Plus GGG is a huge fan favorite right now.
Personally I think it may go a touch longer than some think and Saul shouldnt be written off so easily as a walk over. He has a good history a tough one, right from the beginning, fighting grown men as a pro at 15 after a long amateur career, but he has got it a touch easier only lately now he has some say in it all through Oscar.
SAC/ GGG could be a touch like Phillips Tszyu was. At 160 coming in at 175+ it could suit an inside go to war early sort of fight plan, cause there is no way in hell Saul dances his way out or around GGG and being Mex with pride and fans there says war, so why not plan and train for it?
He could be better suited to have some beef as protection and aim to get tight in and choke out some ggg movement and power and step in closer behind range and take a hit to return some giant ones in the gaps and make it a nose to nose war; something GGG hasnt had to adjust to as yet as a pro. GGG is great transferring power while moving and catching in combos after damage brings guard down and will probably win, but so far he has been looking great while getting it all his own way in there.
I want to see him tested for real even more than I want to see Canelo stretched to the limit.
As much as Saul may be ready now, do you think GGG has any fear?
It is bad that Canelo has not fought GGG but he got the belt in november near the end of the month. If he fights him with in this year that means he took him on with in a year which is what most fighters do. As for the face fighter bit Canelo has wins over Trout,Lara,Kirkland and Cotto those are better then anything GGG has done in his whole career. GGG is favored and all but Canelo has not been hurt what so ever since i have watch him so it will be interesting. GGG better win because if not he was nothing but a can crusher this is the only elite fighter he has faced should be good though.
I think the biggest problem is that golovkin has been the interim wbc champ since 2014 and is trying to unify the belts, so he had been waiting for a long time. A lot of that time was from when martinez or cotto was champ though and that seems to have carried onto canelo, which is slightly unfair on him. I think the wbc are the ones that are really to blame here, they keep allowing guys whether it be canelo or cotto to side step golovkin and fight at these crap catchweights.
I don't think canelo is quite ready for golovkin yet and he needs to work his way up and actually fight some real middleweights before he gets in there with ggg but he and his team have backed him into a bit of a corner by taking on khan and having the belt, it's going to look very bad for him unless he takes on golovkin next ... I am a big fan of canelo, I really like the way he fights so I hope this fight happens soon and at 160lbs, I also think it will be a lot more interesting than people think, it will make for great viewing !
I think he knows that Canelo is going to be his most serious and challenging opponent to date and will approach him the way he did with Lemiuex and box him. I think GGG's jab along with his technical movement will give Canelo trouble, and this time it'll be a lot of power behind those punches (as opposed to Khan's combo's that landed on him). But Canelo knows how to box and counter as well so it won't be a play by play of that match with Lemiuex.
I hope I'm wrong and it becomes a reincarnation of Ward vs Gatti ;D
A man can dream!
I think Canelo does better in this fight than many will give him credit for because Everyones rubbed the wrong way by the stalling, false machismo, etc. I don't know if he's ready though. It's not like hes been sparring light heavies or super middle monsters. He sparred curtis stevens for cotto, not sure who he sparred with for Khan, but i doubt it was a big puncher at the weight. Plus i forgot where it was mentioned, but there was a rumor that Golovkin knocked down the ginger in sparring. That was a while back . I came across this while looking for a site though (not sure how credible it is, but he does list sources for the quotes.)Basement Gym Boxing: Gennady Golovkin's Sparring Profile: A Sparring Partner Reference List
From the looks of it (if theres any truth to that) there's a reason for GGG's fearful rep. According to Canelo, he hasn't fought anyone. From the looks of it he's sparred almost everyone. Sometimes the whispers around the gym are louder than screams from the public. As far as GGG's fear goes, I don't know if hes fearless. I just think he's able to buckle down and focus. He's apparently a guy of extreme discipline and few are focused like a man that feels he has a destiny to fulfill.
I can understand that but people saying like he is all manufactured is kinda off because for a man who 25 years old and to have the resume he has is pretty insane. I mean looking at most champs at his age and you won't see a lot oh them who have his resume at this point in time. As for the weighting i do not think Canelo should get the blame for Martinez and Cotto not fighting him if Canelo faces GGG before the year is up that is more then fine because that is a pretty good time frame.
I'm not trying to tear canelo down. I think hes steadily improved in the ring, but the more i look at who he faced and what they were when he faced them, the more questions i have how much is flash and how much is cash.
I never really ranked gomez or baldomir. They were beneficiaries of opponents not showing up to do what they were supposed to. (i mean if Judah cut up baldomir like he was supposed to and went on to fight floyd, i doubt baldo would have ever left the shadows and Gomez is a tough little guy but was never elite to me... i suppose maybe Josesito lopez gets put in this group too). He has the loss to floyd and some will argue he lost to lara and edged trout. Angulo, Kirkland were punching bags at the point where he fought them. Cotto and mosely were pretty good wins. Pretty much everyone had khan as a lamb being led to slaughter because of the weight. He still has a good record, im just trying to separate the earned from the engineered.
I agree with Lennox Lewis to see Canelo vs David Lemieux while GGG fights Billy Joe Saunders and then see the victors fight each other next year.
I think he could have done enough body work to take the Lara fight and I think aside from the knock down Trout was a tougher bout to score. It just seems that the split decider or vote going against the grain for Canelo (like in the mayweather fight) is always like a  score
I like Lara, but for me it's not could have but did. Nearly every truly effective punch was Canelos and this isn't the amateurs, plus output was very close if I remember. You don't score points for looking cool when you aren't punching.
Trout would have been a near even fight if it weren't for knockdown, which made it another clear win imo.
