Parker-Takam - Winner gets AJ - Sky Sports 3 - 11am UK
Sky have bought this fight which would suggest AJ/Eddie have no problem facing Parker should he win.
I know some people think Parker is a better talent than Joshua. Well it looks like we're gonna find out quicker than expected... if Parker gets past Takam of course.

Parker id say is better schooled looks more fluid but he may have fought lesser opposition.

I think Parker will win a decision. Takam is a good fighter but older and I think with his style he needs a "youthful night" to beat someone like Parker. Has Parker's chin been tested yet? Takam has a little pop in him, he could shake Parker up.
Parker might score a knockdown, but I think Takam will hang tough in there and make him work.

I don't see it going the distance. Infact nowadays I don't see many HW match ups going the distance.
Obviously the Fury v Wlad non punching snooze fest is the exception to the rule .

Takam is cagey, just understand that Povetkin is the guy who knocked him out.....he's got really good pop and actually Wilder just might find out in their fight about just that.
Point being is I think Parker might could hurt Carlos, but I think Carlos will be able to last the distance. Now if Takam lands one on Parker, THAT will be the interesting scenario!

re: Parker-Takam - Winner gets AJ - Sky Sports 3 - 11am UK
I agree. Parker although looks good has been extended by Minto. I dont think hes the biggest puncher. I think hes good and if you look back I think im the first member to have made a thread on him. http://www.saddoboxing.com/boxingfor...promising.html
He hasnt faced anyone dangerous and I dont think Takam is dangerous either. Povetkin is over rated. Wilder will stop him, he cant mave his head.
Maybe Parker doesnt stop him but I see it being routine for him.
I dont think Takam is what he needs before Joshua if he isnt ready. Hopefully he can hook up with the Furys for sparring in a few weeks. Would be great experience for him training with the best heavy in the world. Tyson is a full on sparrer so not much better prep.

re: Parker-Takam - Winner gets AJ - Sky Sports 3 - 11am UK
I think Takam will give Parker some problems, and I wouldn't be surprised if he wins.
Parker is a decent contender, but he's not really a top 5 HW.

re: Parker-Takam - Winner gets AJ - Sky Sports 3 - 11am UK
Parker beats Takam and loses bad to Joshua.

re: Parker-Takam - Winner gets AJ - Sky Sports 3 - 11am UK
Have a funny feeling Takam will put on a lesson and neither would meet AJ regardless.

re: Parker-Takam - Winner gets AJ - Sky Sports 3 - 11am UK
Sky are showing it live from 11am Saturday morning.
If Parker does a number on Takam it will be impressive. I expect a tough fight, with Parker's youth/size winning the day.

Quite interested in how this one pans out, experience versus potential, and a good test for Parker is he is going to get AJ. Plus it breaks up the day nicely, nice fight before it starts to build up for the FA Cup final.

Then the build up to the Haye fight. :)

Takam looking better than I gave him credit for. If Parker wins he will deffinitely learn from the fight. Dont think hes ever had avoid really being hit before and probably Takams round.
-
Re: Parker-Takam - Winner gets AJ - Sky Sports 3 - 11am UK
Parker really swining and could get caught
-
Re: Parker-Takam - Winner gets AJ - Sky Sports 3 - 11am UK
Parker getting caught too easy with a looping left hook but he wins the second I think
-
Re: Parker-Takam - Winner gets AJ - Sky Sports 3 - 11am UK
Takam waiting and waiting for the left hook
-
Re: Parker-Takam - Winner gets AJ - Sky Sports 3 - 11am UK
Missed that a few seconds before the bell what landed but Parker looked stunned a bit and Takam came on. Not sure if Takam caught him and hurt him near the end there but Parkers round again
-
Re: Parker-Takam - Winner gets AJ - Sky Sports 3 - 11am UK
Parker really needs this experience!!
-
Re: Parker-Takam - Winner gets AJ - Sky Sports 3 - 11am UK
Takam bobbing forward and Parker to me looks tired I think hes loaded up too much and looks a bit clueless under pressure.
This will not put any fear in the top heavies yet.
-
Re: Parker-Takam - Winner gets AJ - Sky Sports 3 - 11am UK
Parkers corner will be panckng watching this.
Hes just lost the 5th looks tired, lackng ideas. Cannot move out the way of punches. Hes going to have to get boring and use the jab and learn to move because Takam is fresh as a daisy and has taken Parkers best shots.
-
Re: Parker-Takam - Winner gets AJ - Sky Sports 3 - 11am UK
Parker must be superfit or his inexperience is going to cost him, still trying to load up
-
Re: Parker-Takam - Winner gets AJ - Sky Sports 3 - 11am UK
Parker staying on top now and mainly because Takam not doing much.
-
Re: Parker-Takam - Winner gets AJ - Sky Sports 3 - 11am UK
Did Parker just shoot his bolt there!?
Went hell for leather to stop Takam and Takam did look hirt but he soaked it all up and came back and Parker was knackered and very unorganised flopping around the ring after.
-
Re: Parker-Takam - Winner gets AJ - Sky Sports 3 - 11am UK
Parker knackered but can cope with Takams lazy style.
Very slow round 10 Parkers fight bar a couple of rounds. More Takam losing it than Parker winning it though because hes being very inactive. When he throws punches Parker doesnt look great.
-
Re: Parker-Takam - Winner gets AJ - Sky Sports 3 - 11am UK
Parkers corner will love this pace but Takams must be pulling their hair out.
-
Re: Parker-Takam - Winner gets AJ - Sky Sports 3 - 11am UK
Takam is so frustrating to watch. Parker is there for the taking but hes doing nothing. Hes good defensivly, moves well but just doesnt throw punches litterally!
Brilliant move for Parker. Beating up Samoan punchbags has done nthing for him.
-
Re: Parker-Takam - Winner gets AJ - Sky Sports 3 - 11am UK
Last round good! Both throwing and landing but a bit messy and Takams left it too late!
-
Re: Parker-Takam - Winner gets AJ - Sky Sports 3 - 11am UK
Parkers fight.
He needs to face another tough contender yet before he gets anywhere near a title. Needs to learn to move his head and feet and not load up on everything.
Takam is going nowhere and when Hughie is over his acne/immune system problem Takam would be perfect for him.

Re: Parker-Takam - Winner gets AJ - Sky Sports 3 - 11am UK
Tidy little fight, Parker showed his highlight reel stuff for rounds 2-4, and for the rest of it it was fairly sporadic. I had Parker ahead by 116-112.
Scores on the doors:
116-112
116-112
115-113
Personally I thought Parker showed some good stuff, but I'm not sure he's going to want to go straight into a fight with AJ. Another couple of quality gatekeepers would do him a lot of good.
-
Parker wouldn't be able to cope with AJ. He boxes well at times but shows his inexperience under pressure. He gets hit too easily and despite the fact it went 12 rounds I've got doubts about his stamina.
It's one thing doing 12 rounds when you can go for a little walk or take a round or two off, but when you are constantly either applying or under pressure, it's a different story.
I know some people will say the same about AJ, but he has freakish power and I don't see him having to go 12 that often. I'm not saying he may not ko'd himself at some stage, but that's HW Boxing.

Re: Parker-Takam - Winner gets AJ - Sky Sports 3 - 11am UK
Having had a chance to think about the fight a little, I'm seeing a few of the bad habits in Parker that kind of annoyed me a little when Tyson Fury used to fight a few years ago. He turns his back and walks away at times, which is disrespectful, and he has a habit of backing off with his chin up in the air.
I definitely wouldn't put Parker in with AJ yet, Dilian Whyte might be an interesting bout as an undercard to something over here, or even Tony Thompson or someone of that ilk.
-
Re: Parker-Takam - Winner gets AJ - Sky Sports 3 - 11am UK
parker will have learned more from that fight than he did in all of his other fights put together.
It's those tough ten/twelve rounders against seasoned, wily veterans that provide the real schooling to young prospects. Tyson went the full distance with Quick Tillis on the way up and he has always said it was one of his best learning fights.
Joshua has never had a learning fight, and he is now a titleholder. I hope that doesn't leave an unfixable gap in his boxing education.
-
Re: Parker-Takam - Winner gets AJ - Sky Sports 3 - 11am UK
I think Parkers stamina is fine.
I also think he believed his own hype that hes a massive puncher, even the British commentators kept referring to his big power. I dont think he is such a big puncher. Minto lasted longer with Parker than he did against Whyte.
He threw the kitchen sink at Takam and was loading up on everythng thinking he could get a hi light stoppage and burnt himself out early.
He didnt look ready for a belt holder but at the same time if Joshua had fought Takam I dont think he wouldnt have looked any better.
This gives his whole team a chance to reassess where he is.
Iv already mentioned this but getting him in Furys camp as a sparring partner would do him wonders. He looked today like someone whos never been punched back and to be far he hasnt.
Hearn will want a fight between Parker and Joshua because Parker didnt look great but I dont think this fight proved that Parker is not very good I think it just proved he cant fight a world rated challenger the same way he fights domestic level journeymen.

Re: Parker-Takam - Winner gets AJ - Sky Sports 3 - 11am UK
Whyte will be to much for Parker what I have seen of Whyte he is the 3rd best HW in this Country,
Parker is not bad but AJ will stop him in about 6 rounds, interesting times ahead in the HW division
about time it's been shit for some time.:)

Re: Parker-Takam - Winner gets AJ - Sky Sports 3 - 11am UK
Just watched it on youtube, pretty good fight.. Really good learning experience for parker, I had him winning 115-113. Takam isn't going to win a world title but he is strong, tough, fit and at 240lbs he isn't going to be easy to bully and push around. I think parker showed some good potential and some weakness, takam was catching him pretty easy with the left counters early on. Parker was also close to punching himself out in round 8(i think ), he did well to come back after looking exhausted. He certainly needs to tighten up his defence, pace himself a bit better and try to clinch and lean when he it would benefit him(although it is hard to do that against a very strong guy like takam in my opinion). Parker certainly answered a lot of the standard questions about prospects, he seems to be able to take a punch and fight for twelve rounds, he did look tired at times but recovered well against an in shape contender.
I don't think parker is ready to fight for the title, I hope he takes on another two or three really good contenders before going for a title. I think taking on Duhaupass then pulev would be the best bet for him(if possible :S), duhaupass isn't great but has proved his toughness, is tall and seems to pack a punch going from his recent win over helenius, Pulev is also another really good contender and would provide brilliant experience before a title fight.. I think he will go for Joshua next and probably get ko'd but whatever he is still young at 24 so he can come back after that
also takam v chisora would be a really fun fight, someone should make that happen !

Sparring Fury later rounds would really make him rethink his lumbering footwork, he is so readable at the moment the only time he pretends he is slightly lighter on his feet and reactive is when he is out of range, anyone skip fit is going to have him all night long after playing the first three safe.
