Ricky Burns-Michele Di Rocco - Sat/Sky

Anyone that reads my drivel will know I don't give a shit about alphabets, however, this is for the WBA lightwelter title, should Burns win he becomes a three weight "world" champ (whoop dee doo).

Di Rocco hasn't faced anywhere near the level of comp Burns has (Lenny Daws gave him a close fight). Even Burns recent defeats don't look bad with hindsight. Crawford is one of the best fighters in the world, Zlaticanin went to America to cause another big upset and remains unbeaten, and Figueroa is a middleweight that had a tag team partner in Laurence Cole.

Neither are punchers but Di Rocco Isn't in Burns class, be surprised if Burns can't force him to quit.

It's not even the best card of the weekend, with Bellew/Makabu tomorrow, but I'm sure I'll be tuning in. If you think Burns becoming a three weight world champ is slightly ridiculous, Willie Limond on the undercard is talking like he's going to be the next opponent if Burns wins. Yes, Willie Limond challenging for a world title.

And by the way, no Champions League final spoilers tonight please, watching the highlights after this card is done.

McCarthy - Dickinson should be a decent scrap on the undercard. Havent been impressed wih McCarthy in the fights Ive seen so could be a competitive fight.

Torres scored a hatrick and Rinaldo chipped his finger nail and could be out of the Euro's.

We're starting off with Jon-Lewis Dickinson against McCarthy.

The one that surprises me is Willie Limond thinking that a victory tonight sets him up for a world title shot against Ricky Burns. If I was thinking of fights that encapsulate why world titles have been diluted, Limond v Burns would rank up there.

What do you think of Tommy McCarthy? He really whips in his punches, and I like anyone who's willing to commit to working the body.

As its not a title fight, I was a little surprised to see the ref let it go on, as JLD seemed to be stumbling backwards a little. Having seen how heavy he went down, I doubt it goes 10.

Having just seen a close up of Dickinson, has anyone checked to see if he is Ian Holloway's son. He looks like he might burst into an improbable metaphor at any time.

I can't stand ian Holloway so on that basis I'm hoping Dickinson gets KTFO

Well, I guess I called the KO like a pro. Good win for McCarthy, showing he probably deserved the step up. He does ship a fair few punches, which might hurt him if he goes in against a guy with heavier hands.

Still early days for him though.

I didn't realise Tyrone Nurse was fighting, I like him purely because I have a habit of winning money on his fights for some reason, Connor Benn on the card as well, I'm guessing he will be in with a polish ice cream man or someone like that.

If Connor Benn keeps fighting like his old man he won't last long

That might well be the case...but it'll be an exciting journey while it lasts. He's still learning, as he hasn't fought much before going pro, plus he's young so plenty of time to develop. He might be able to learn to box, if that's the approach they want to take.

Yeah he's just a kid so will improve. However, they need to knock it out of him that he punches like his dad. He needs to win fights boxing not having a pub carpark shoot out. After that they'll give him plenty of "gimmes".... rightly so

That's exactly the kind of beatdown that starts to get you worried about a guy. Taking the same punches all night and getting more and more affected by them.

To me, Di Rocco looks a little pudgy around the middle, and a little reckless in terms of his approach. Burns might enjoy this kind of fight.
