Gennady Golovkin vs. Kell Brook
-
Re: Gennady Golovkin vs. Kell Brook
Nice promo.
Casual fans should take to two undefeated fighters meeting..
Kell is rising to the occasion!
-
Gotta give it to them they actually managed to make the fight look good
"Two world champions collide"
More like
"Kell brook collides with the canvas"
-
Re: Gennady Golovkin vs. Kell Brook
They sure did!
Boxingfans will be the only nitpicks.
For the Golovkin naysayers...maybe Kell can prove them right ?
-
Kennedy the Bumkin is his name
How did he reach his fame?
By fighting everyone whose name
Is ranked so low --- oh what a shame!
O Marvin can you please return?
Or what about The Beast?
Even Hopkins, Jones or Hearns
Would surely have a feast!
the Glove Skin gently strokes his chin
And thinks he is the best
But every boxing fan doth know
His reign is just in jest!

Slim! I thought you were sensible.
This just shows you that they will sell a horseshit massacre as quality close fight.
Totally pathetic fight that should not be allowed to happen.
This is the equivalent of Kovalev v Ward being arranged and Ward pulls out and BJS the undefeated middleweight steps up to the challenge. He would have no chance. So why do people think Kell does?

Hey...maybe the ring will be 24x24 for fleet of foot??? And I never said boxing fans were in error to nitpick...;)

Re: Gennady Golovkin vs. Kell Brook
Kell Brook says he can maintain his speed and bring power to the ring when he steps up to middleweight to fight Gennady Golovkin on 10 September.
Brook, 30, is the IBF welterweight champion and is moving up two weight divisions to take on the Kazakh boxer.
"I'm going to bring the speed up to the middleweight division," Brook said.
"I'm going to bring big power as well. I'm ready for this fight. To be the best you've got to beat the best - it doesn't get any bigger than GGG."
Brook says the bout in London will be "the biggest fight in world boxing" and that he has been "training like a wild horse".
The Briton is unbeaten in 36 fights, while undisputed world middleweight champion Golovkin, 34, has won all 35 of his professional bouts.
"I'm going to be so alive for that night," Brook said.
"No-one has ever got the best out of me. I want to test myself. I know we are going to see the best in me. I'm excited to see what I can do."
He added: "I'm the best welterweight on the planet and no-one seems to want to fight me. GGG is the same in the middleweight division."

Widely renowned as the greatest fighter ever to lace up gloves : Sugar Ray Robinson

Coincidence ? I think not.

Hats off to Kell for taking the fight pity Eubank Jr didn't have the bottle.
-
Re: Gennady Golovkin vs. Kell Brook
Kell being compared to Sugar Ray Robinson?
GGG will smash him into tiny bits.
-
Re: Gennady Golovkin vs. Kell Brook
While I this that this will be a mismatch, I love the balls and old school mentality that Brook is displaying. Shades of the original Sugar Ray, Basilio, Emile Griffith...etc. I'm a GGG fan/believer, but I would be lying if I said there isn't a part of me pulling for Brook yo pull off the upset. If Brook wins, big if, where do you place him on your p4p rankings????

My sentiments as well. We complain that undefeated fighters don't test themselves, now we're complaining about one showing how much balls to step UP to test himself against a MW.....some here complains is untested thus undeserving of P4P status.
Hell, I just wanna see two so-called champs go at it!

Re: Gennady Golovkin vs. Kell Brook
I like Brook, and hope he puts in a good showing. However, I imagine if he were to somehow pull off the miracle upset, the happiest and most relieved person on the planet would be none other than Canelo Alvarez. The monkey on his back for having avoided GGG would be off for good.... there would be no need for him to face GGG anymore.... and who knows.... he might even grow some balls and decide to face GGG after all, figuring that if Brook beat him, so can he. Nah..... I'll have to root for GGG. Let Canelo keep marinating.

Re: Gennady Golovkin vs. Kell Brook
This will be another Terry Norris v Meldrick Taylor.
-
Re: Gennady Golovkin vs. Kell Brook
Brooks quite a bit smaller, similar height, inch or two difference but theres a reasonable difference in the general frame
-
Re: Gennady Golovkin vs. Kell Brook
[QUOTE=Master;1394412]This will be another Terry Norris v Meldrick Taylor.[/QUOTE
You are likely correct in that the most likely scenario has GGG scoring a devastating knockout. Don't see this playing out like Norris-Taylor for the following reasons:
1. Meldrick was shot and coming off three brutal fights, with two of his previous wins being disputed wars with journeymen fighters. Brook is in his prime and doesn't have the damage that Taykor had, not even close.
2. Norris was a horrible match up because he hit MUCH harder and was just as fast as Meldrick. GGG is unquestionably the puncher in this one, but I see Brook having the advantage in both hand and foot speed.
3. Taylor was a great fighter and boxer, but was too tough for his own good, often abandoning his boxing/speed advantage to engage in an all out war. He was a philly fighter to his core, which was great for the fans but detrimental for his career. Brook will have a solid game plan and stick to it.
I think GGG's pressure and punch will eventually break Kell down and result in a stoppage. That being said, I'm not convinced that a GGG win is guaranteed, and I applaud Kell for daring to be great. Before you write this fight off as a farce, ask yourself this: "Is Kell Brook more of an underdog than Napoles was vs Monzon, Leonard was vs Hagler, Duran was vs Hagler, or Basilio was vs Robinson?"
People thought Ray Leonard stood absolutely no chance and was risking his health. I thought Hagler won the fight, but Ray performed much better than anyone thought possible. Napoles lost to Monzon, but it was a great fight and took no luster from Napokes who performed well against one of the top middleweights in history.

Brook was trying to look big and must have wore a lot of clothes under his suit because he was trying too hard puffing out his chest.

Re: Gennady Golovkin vs. Kell Brook
when froch fought bute no one gave froch a chance
bute was knocking everyone out and doing it with ease, hardy taking a punch and looking spectacular, much like GGG is
and butes level of opposition was similar to that of GGGs
bute never beat anyone you could consider top class in his division, all a level below
who has GGG beaten that you would call a top class middleweight?
Lemieux? probably his best opponent, Martin Murray? nothing frightening there is there

So who has Brook fought and dominated of any worth?
You can't compare Brook to Carl Froch not in a million years

Interesting. I want Brook to win, and I reckon he will surprise a few people, but I'm not sure he can win. But I saw Brook was quoted as saying that he beats everyone on GGG's record. Do you think Brook beats Martin Murray? I'm not a big fan of Murray's but he is tough, game, and a giant compared to Brook. Just curious.

Froch was a 6/4 shot v Bute. Your making it seem like he was a 20/1 shot. He was a slight underdog.

at the book makers perhaps there is a big difference between the froch bute fight and the brook GGG fight in terms of the underdog
on here tho, with the exception of us few more knowledgeable fans , bute was going to smash froch to bits

you cant compare brook to froch in terms of styles no, but both are very good fighters, more than worthy world champions
and a lot of people saw the pre-froch bute on the same standing as they now see GGG
obviously now that looks daft

Re: Gennady Golovkin vs. Kell Brook
What if this had been played differently?
Khan vs. GGG...... and Brook vs. Canelo.
Shame, because I think Brook would've had a much better chance of whupping Canelo than he does against GGG..... but we'll never find out. Meanwhile, Khan would've still gotten murdered against GGG, like he did against Canelo. Canelo defintely got the better end of the ''Big Guy/ Little Guy" matchups.

Re: Gennady Golovkin vs. Kell Brook
Brook would have lost to every recent fighter GGG has fought.

Re: Gennady Golovkin vs. Kell Brook

We will wait and see Brook is a very good boxer he may be a light middle but ,GGG is a exceptional Champ and a full middle weight.
I hate these fights when I like both fighters, shit I shall support Brook with my heart ! and GGG with my head.😥

Brook is the same size as Lemieux, Lemieux loves to stumble forward eating jabs, Brook's got a great jab. I say he batters him.

That is total nonsense because if it was true Brook would have fought at the weight before earning more money and prestige at the weight. Stop believing the sky hype.

You're going to have to explain that to me Master as I have no idea what you're trying to say ;D
Other than the conclusion which you're totally entitled to your opinion on, the rest is fact isnt it?
If Sky or anyone else for that matter have the same opinion as I do on a hypothetical Brook Lemieux fight it's purely coincidence, or sound judgement ;)

I can't imagine Brook taking a clean shot from Curtis Stevens and not hitting the canvas.
He's just not a real middleweight and I think that will be evident after a few rounds or perhaps the middle rounds with GGG.

How many people were saying Brooks could become a middleweight champion when he was a welterweight title holder ? none.
This fight is only happening because Junior turned it down and sky need their quota of ppv fights even mismatches like this.

Still not sure how any of that makes what I said about a hypothetical Brook Lemieux fight nonsense?
