Hughie Fury fighting Andy Ruiz Jr.
Just saw this slated for Wlad-Fury undercard. Assuming everything goes through and Oct. rematch comes off ??? this is a pretty interesting match up. Ruiz has to get through yet another 40 yr old opponent first and then it's a title eliminator. Big step for Fury all things considered.

Re: Hughie Fury fighting Andy Ruiz Jr.
I would say fury has fought the better opposition than elephant seal JR , the HW limit is unlimited but I still not sure Ruiz can make the weight ;).

Re: Hughie Fury fighting Andy Ruiz Jr.
This is a massive test and a big jump in class. Strange management from Fury's team.

Theyve tried better names than this for Hughie.
Ruiz just doesnt really have much else going on.
It will be an interesting fight. Ruiz has good combinations and is one of the most skilled (although clearly lazy) american heavies but I dont think he will get too close to Hughie.
-
Re: Hughie Fury fighting Andy Ruiz Jr.
He's a bit of a lump is Ruiz Jr, from what I have seen of him someone with a decent skill set should be able to get past him quite easily.
That being said who knows what he could do if he shed some of the lard that he is carrying

Re: Hughie Fury fighting Andy Ruiz Jr.
Is the Wlad-Fury rematch really happening in Oct? Hard to care anymore, but this would be a decent undercard fight. Ruiz has nice hands but he's to small and out of shape to get close or make it a high paced fight, though I haven't seen a whole lot of Hughie.

Indeed....I guess they think Ruiz is the weakest guy with the best record they could add to Fury's resume.

Have they?
Ruiz's career IS in a bit of a plateau
Ruiz is actually Mexican as far as I can tell, born in Mexico at the least...wouldn't want America taking credit for a Mexican fighter.
IF this fight comes off and Ruiz lands anything clean he'll win

You love being wrong;D

Say what you want about Andy Ruiz Jr...but when one of his fat hamhock fist bounces off of Hughie's empty noggin don't come crying to me the kid has power and decent timing.

Re: Hughie Fury fighting Andy Ruiz Jr.
I found these 2 recent pictures of Ruiz before his last fight.
-
Was going to watch Ruiz fight near Fresno on the undercard of Rey Beltran this weekend...but GGG is fighting and my favorite mma fighter Alistair Overeem is challenging for the UFC Heavyweight Title, so I'm going to stay home instead.
Watched some highlights of ruiz and he certainly has power and talent.

Re: Hughie Fury fighting Andy Ruiz Jr.
I'm looking forward to this fight
I think its interesting

Re: Hughie Fury fighting Andy Ruiz Jr.
I think the Liakovich fight showed his limitations. Liakovich was completely washed up and he struggled with him.
-
Re: Hughie Fury fighting Andy Ruiz Jr.
I honestly don't know how good Hughie is, this is the kind of fight that will show a bit

Good enough to be the only british heavyweight to win a gold at Junior world amateur championships. Hes still only 22 as well.

....it's ross man, you're not a boxer from Guernsey so you just can't even comment on the matter

Anyone say anything about Wladimir? Did I miss something? I didn't say anything about Wladimir, I didn't even say anything about noted drug cheat Tyson Fury....I only mentioned noted drug cheat "Baby Hughie" Fury....or has UKAD apologized yet??? Because I'm STILL waiting on that to happen ;D
-
Re: Hughie Fury fighting Andy Ruiz Jr.
Your going mental and posting more the closer Klitschkos end comes:p
Never mind at least it will be at the hands of the next great heavyweight;)

My going what?
I'm just wondering if Hughie is ready for the test in his next fight....be it Andy Ruiz Jr or be it the drug test
How's Guernsey? Still insignificant as always?

Surprisingly hittable in that one. Think he'll have enough to outbox Hughie but should Hughie win he's mandatory for his brother??? Assuming Wlad sleep walks through rematch again.

Re: Hughie Fury fighting Andy Ruiz Jr.
Ruiz going into 6th round with Lawrence right now and looking for ko. Still. Say what you want about him he punches with speed of middleweight but just wearing a fat suit.
-
Re: Hughie Fury fighting Andy Ruiz Jr.
Ruiz jr makes me want to apologize to Joe Hipp right now.

HAHAHA great line , ruiz could make LHW lets be honest , he is a fat twat.
-
Re: Hughie Fury fighting Andy Ruiz Jr.
he certainly is a fat twat

Re: Hughie Fury fighting Andy Ruiz Jr.
I've seen Andy Ruiz Jr. live in Las Vegas and his power is real... However, he took a step backwards last Saturday night... Andy needs to work on his conditioning and stamina otherwise he's going to be another Chris Areola...

At least Arreola was knocking good fighhters out early. Ruiz is struggling with poor fighters.
Arreola also got to a world title shot undefeated. Ruiz will lose to Hughie.

You HOPE Ruiz loses to Hughie.....Andy is a fat tub of shit, but his big old hamburger holding chubby fists do contain some pop and are very quick for the shape he's in.
I haven't seen Baby Hughie fight, I assume he's not as good as Tyson and I assume he's a similar style so tall, lanky, a bit awkward.....if he gets hit clean by Ruiz he'll feel it.
It's actually a decent fight for Hughie AND Ruiz, 2 undefeated fighters, young guys, good match.

Why am I not surprised this fight is off?

Re: Hughie Fury fighting Andy Ruiz Jr.
Yep, another fighter to pull out against Hughie

Was for a mandatory spot and was on a huge show so great exposure.

Re: Hughie Fury fighting Andy Ruiz Jr.
Obvious this fight was never on, there wasn't a peep out of Ruiz.

Hmm, Ruiz and his trainer certainly thought the fight was on...

Although maybe they were using the Furys for publicity?

Maybe they both used each other's names for a bit of publicity.
-
Re: Hughie Fury fighting Andy Ruiz Jr.
Fair enough but there was nothing official announced.
-
Re: Hughie Fury fighting Andy Ruiz Jr.
Elephant seal VS Pillow fists was hardly top of my list of must see.
-
Re: Hughie Fury fighting Andy Ruiz Jr.
If Ruiz and company were just bluffing seems a really dumb move. It's a winnable fight and major career push. Guess he's back to laboring against 40 yr olds on Unimas.
