Daniel Jacobs vs. Sergio Mora
WBA middleweight champion Daniel Jacobs (31-1, 28 KOs) will be defending his title against Sergio “The Latin Snake” Mora (28-4-2, 9 KOs) in a rematch in less than two weeks on Friday, September 9 at the Santander Arena in Reading, Pa. The Jacobs-Mora II rematch hasn’t caught the attention of boxing fans because it’s not a fight that is in demand at all, period.
The management for Mora and Jacobs obviously saw it as an important enough fight to have it televised on Premier Boxing Champions on Spike. As far as rematches go, I think it would have been far better for Jacobs to have fought Peter Quillin again if he wanted a rematch. I’d rather see the two of them fight each other again rather than another mismatch between Jacobs and the 35-year-old Mora.
This should be another easy fight for Jacobs, who stopped Mora in the 2nd round last year in August. The fight ended after Mora broke an ankle after getting dropped.
“This is business for me, but it is also more personal than any fight I have ever had,” said Jacobs. “Sergio had been using the antics online to get this rematch, and he has gotten under my skin.”
It is on spike TV over here as a repeat.
Re: Daniel Jacobs vs. Sergio Mora
I know i'm the minority here but I hope Mora pulls off the miracle upset by KO instead of getting blitzed like Quillin. I've already had my fill of Jacobs. First he claims the rematch is beneath him, but turns down a match with the man in his division and says he needs a year and half to fight GGG and now is playing the race card as a reason he's not a superstar... Lost so much respect for this guy.

Jacobs is right on everything he has said. Hope he batters Mora who is lucky to get this shot.
Re: Daniel Jacobs vs. Sergio Mora
It's gonna be fireworks regardless. Mora has no shot at winning unless Jacobs carelessly gets caught by a wild shot. He's still living off his win over Vernon Forrest. Jacobs will finish this scrub by the 6th round.
Re: Daniel Jacobs vs. Sergio Mora
Yeh I can't stand Mora but the jokes on the division with him even getting a second shot. In fairness he had Jacobs down hard off a perfect left hook and has the style to exploit his defensive lapses. Real treat may be co feature with Robert Easter vs Richard Commey! Huge Commey another out Ghana with glaring numbers but a little stiff. Good card to kick off massive weekend!

The simple fact that Mora drew him in and countered him perfect for that knockdown, justifies a rematch for me if Jacobs isn't willing to step up and fight golovkin, or canelo, or any other person of name.
Also if Jacobs truly believes he would not be a superstar or at least on his way after beating or taking GGG the distance, because hes African American... I can't agree... This isn't hockey...
I give him credit for not resorting to a floyd type circus persona, but really ?!?!?! the whole boxing game is against a black fighter? just one? (crawford, spence, porter, thurman (half), brook (half), wilder have legions of fans against him... but everyones picking on Jacobs? If he said the worlds against him because hes not putting on a stupid act/ playing the game it would be more believable. Is it just possible that he's not that good and his mouth is faster than his hands. His studio performances do nothing for his Ring Rep... unfortunately neither does his Victory over the big C (though he deserves the utmost credit for it)... and he got flattened once... His only standout victories were Quillin (who was also called mediocre) and mora (disputed because of the injury)... But hes frustrated to know why he's not a superstar after turning down the opportunity to face Golovkin and shock the world. He's not even fighting that often.

Easter is going to knock this man out.

Guilt by association with scum huh?
Doesn't air for me until 9 pm for some reason with xfinity.
Least I have that voice control on the remote. That's handy.
Voice control? Easter egg! Man when Easter fights his range he shows nice tools. Both showing some beard so far.
Re: Daniel Jacobs vs. Sergio Mora
huge right bends Easter badly! Everything he could do to stay up. Barely. Commey pouring it on last round. Fun scrap
Re: Daniel Jacobs vs. Sergio Mora
Fantastic fight right there. Great give and take, both hurt but massive brass! good stuff
Re: Daniel Jacobs vs. Sergio Mora
Broner doesn't look bloated..and he shaved that feral cat off his chin! Wonder if he has a big fight coming up. Did he just call out Ricky Burns?
Why is this place so dead during good fights ;D
Re: Daniel Jacobs vs. Sergio Mora
Not a blitzkrieg from Jacobs so far. Both standing around waiting on a bus here
Re: Daniel Jacobs vs. Sergio Mora
Jacobs lands bigger in 2nd but really not setting anything up. Almost looks too tentative. Mora turning part mma, shoulder blocks and foot stepping. Hope we don't have 12 rounds of this
Re: Daniel Jacobs vs. Sergio Mora
Mora in all kinds of trouble 6th. Legs giving, ankles bending and doing a poor mans Gumby impression. Looks like Jacobs can set up and finish
Re: Daniel Jacobs vs. Sergio Mora
Wow, ANOTHER Ali/Frazier documentary?
Guaranteed comments like:
"The was the biggest sports event ever"
"All the top celebrities came: Sinatra..."
"Ali painted Joe Frazier as an Uncle Tom/Gorilla"
Re: Daniel Jacobs vs. Sergio Mora
World Boxing Association World middleweight champion Daniel Jacobs (32-1, 29 KOs) won a ridiculously easy 7th round knockout win over 2nd tier fighter Sergio “The Latin Snake” Mora (28-5-2, 9 Kos) in the 7th round in their rematch on Friday night at the Santander Arena in Reading, Pennsylvania. Jacobs knocked Mora down five times in the fight with three of the knockdowns coming in round seven.
It was comical at the end with Jacobs dropping the aging 35-year-old Mora repeatedly in the 7th until the referee finally tired of the dreadful mismatch and stopped the fight. The boxing fans were booing the mismatch from the 4th round. They did not like the mismatch, and who came blame them. Jacobs’ management should have known better than than put him back in with Mora after he stopped the aging fighter last year by a 2nd round knockout.
Mora was knocked down by a left hook in the 4th round by Jacobs. Mora was bending over to try and escape the punishment from Jacobs when he was nailed by a left hand that put him down.
In the 5th, Jacobs dropped Mora with a right hand to the shoulder blades. Like in the previous round, Mora was dipping at the waist to try and avoid Jacobs’ punishing shots when he was hit and dropped. If Mora had stood straight up, he wouldn’t have been knocked down, but he kept bending over and making it easy for Jacobs to hit him with chopping power shots.
Mora fell to the canvas twice in the 6th round after slipping after getting staggered by a right hand. The referee could have called it a knockdown because Mora was hurt, but he gave him the benefit of the doubt by choosing not to score knockdowns. The mismatch might have ended in the 6th if the referee had scored the slips as knockdowns, because the fight have become totally one-sided at that point. There was no reason at all to let it continue considering that Mora looked old, weak and feeble in the ring. He clearly didn’t belong in there with Jacobs.
In the 7th, Jacobs knocked Mora down with a right to the head. Moments later, Jacobs sent Mora down for a second time in the round with another big right. Mora barely beat the count at the count of 9. After Mora got back up, Jacobs dropped him for the third and final time with a nice right hand to the head.
Few fans wanted to see a rematch because they realized it would be a mismatch, and sure enough that’s what it was. Hopefully this fight closes the chapter on the Jacobs-Mora fights, because it’s time that these two fighters move and start fighting other people. Mora didn’t rate a rematch, because he hadn’t fought since being stopped in the 2nd round last year. Why Jacobs’ management chose to have him fight Mora a second time is the big question. He didn’t have to, because he clearly beat the 35-year-old Mora last year. Putting the two together again resulted in another mismatch.
WBA president Gilberto Mendoza said that he would order a fight between Gennady Golovkin and Jacobs. The fight is expected to happen later this year.
