Ricky Burns-Kiryl Relikh/Whyte-Lewison
Ricky Burns will face Adrien Broner at the end of the year if he successfully defends his world title against Kiryl Relikh, says promoter Eddie Hearn.
Burns (40-5-1-KO14) is preparing to make the first defence of the WBA super-lightweight crown he seized by stopping Italy's Michele di Rocco in the eighth round in May.
His challenger Relikh (21-0-KO19) boasts an impressive knockout record and is trained by the legendary Ricky Hatton - but controversial American Broner (32-2-KO24) will be ringside for the October 7 clash and already lying in wait for the Scot.

Re: Ricky Burns vs. Kiryl Relikh
Getting real tired of seeing Broners fat face rewarded for losing major fights and not making weight.
-
Re: Ricky Burns vs. Kiryl Relikh
In fairness Burns was pretty lucky to pick up a title himself last time out, he's lost all of his important fights for a few years now. Seems like a solid guy and I'm sure he'll be paid well to fight Broner at home, can't see him winning though.

Nothing much has been said on this fight
Just thought I'd drop everyone a reminder that it is on tonight, unusual to have the boxing on a Friday.

Re: Ricky Burns-Kiryl Relikh/Whyte-Lewison
Whyte-Lewison could be interesting for a few rounds. Lewison has never been past four rounds, almost certain his only chance is to rip Whyte's head off.

Re: Ricky Burns-Kiryl Relikh/Whyte-Lewison

you know what, for the first time in absolutely ages I am missing the boxing, I'm at home I'm not doing anything, I just can't be arsed to watch it.

Re: Ricky Burns-Kiryl Relikh/Whyte-Lewison
I have enjoyed watching Burns over the past few years. Solid solid guy, big at his original weight and he had that really good boxing technique that so many Scottish boxers do. Nice bloke by all accounts, and a real pro.
i do think he has been on the slide for a few fights now. Since moving up a weight, he is no longer the bigger guy in there and hasn't been able to bully people like before. His power has suffered too.
i wouldn't be entirely surprised to see Ricky lose this one and call it a day.

Re: Ricky Burns-Kiryl Relikh/Whyte-Lewison
Meh I might do, I don't feel great to be honest, I think it'll be an early night tonight, I caught the lurgy off the bird that sits in front of me at work, fucking coughing and spluttering all week without cover her mouth, pissed me off, she's infected the whole team pretty much.
I think it could be the early stages of ebola or something worse

That was an illegal punch to the back of the head.

Let's see whT Whyte has got now.
-
Re: Ricky Burns-Kiryl Relikh/Whyte-Lewison
Whyte is busting him up and should beat him.
-
Re: Ricky Burns-Kiryl Relikh/Whyte-Lewison
Not the best British HW title fight I've ever seen.
-
Re: Ricky Burns-Kiryl Relikh/Whyte-Lewison
This might sound harsh, but Dillian Whyte's career is going to be defined by that loss to Joshua. He is going to be remembered in years to come as a good loser, but a loser nonetheless.
-
Re: Ricky Burns-Kiryl Relikh/Whyte-Lewison
If Whyte wants to be taken seriously then he should stop Lewison.
-
Re: Ricky Burns-Kiryl Relikh/Whyte-Lewison
If Lewison had taken his career seriously, he might've been a decent fighter. He's got talent, but he's just not conditioned. Maybe he's a touch small (I know that sounds stupid for a 19 and a half stone guy) , but his movement is good. Just not fit enough.

Re: Ricky Burns-Kiryl Relikh/Whyte-Lewison
Sensible stoppage and retirement.

Re: Ricky Burns-Kiryl Relikh/Whyte-Lewison
Adam Smith mentioned Chisora or David Price next for Whyte. I'd be intrigued to know what people think about that. I reckon Whyte would beat Chisora, but I might be in the minority here, I reckon Price could beat him, he'd be all wrong for Whyte.

Whyte would be Chisora and just needs to land on Price.

Re: Ricky Burns-Kiryl Relikh/Whyte-Lewison
Whyte-Chisora should be a pretty competitive fight. PRice has a punchers chance against Whyte, but at the same time a broom has a punchers chance against Price.

Re: Ricky Burns-Kiryl Relikh/Whyte-Lewison
500 miles and Bobby Davro song.
This guy is undefeated and a knockout puncher under the management of Ricky Hatton.
-
Re: Ricky Burns-Kiryl Relikh/Whyte-Lewison
Relikh is confident bordering on cocky he went southpaw. Difficult to score the 1st but give it to him.
-
Re: Ricky Burns-Kiryl Relikh/Whyte-Lewison
Relikh dominated the 2nd and hurt Burns with some good shots!

Re: Ricky Burns-Kiryl Relikh/Whyte-Lewison
How's the fight looking master ? Just seen someone on twitter saying he got burns 5-3 up

Re: Ricky Burns-Kiryl Relikh/Whyte-Lewison
Good fight that was!
Fair play to Relikh, what a prospect he is. Lots of power and aggression, good chin and a great engine considering he had never been twelve rounds before. He was the one pushing the most at the end and I thought he might actually knock Burns down or stop him. I taped that fight and it was good enough to watch again.
A tough fight for Burns, how many wars can this guy get through! Solid chin, very good ring smarts and he really used his experience to win the fight. I had him 2 rounds ahead, I'm not sure what fight the judge was watching to score 118-110!
It was Burns' experience that won the fight. His rock solid technique never deserted him, and he did enough to win most of the middle rounds. I suspect Relikh took his foot off the gas in the middle because he was worried whether he could do 12. Once his prsssure dropped and he stopped cutting the ring off, Burns was picking him off with the straight right.
Good fight.

Re: Ricky Burns-Kiryl Relikh/Whyte-Lewison
Ricky Burns is a real fighter who makes the most of what he has got , he is such a likeable chap.
Well done to both for an entertaining fight.

Kyril gave a good account but just lacking that bit of experience.
He pushed Burns all the way he had very little rest bite, Ricky did not look brilliant but just about got the win.
I did not think there was much in it a draw would have been okay in my eye's, Ricky will now chase the money can't blame him as I don't think he will keep the title for long.
Burns is a top guy and deserves a good pay day I like Ricky not the best but a honest good fighter.

I stopped watching after 3 rounds had to go to sleep
Kiryl was winning but he must have slowed down in the middle. I thought he was going to dominate if not stop Burns.
