Some decent fights on the horizon.
Re: Some decent fights on the horizon.
Then down here in Oz we have Green hasbeen vs Ant Mundane and the public will buy into it.
Riveting stuff I tell you.
Re: Some decent fights on the horizon.
Nice, definitely a good handful of fights, was Haymon able to secure a new network deal with Showtime or something? I think all of these fights involve a fighter of his. I remember Granados upsetting Amir Inam on the Bute-DeGale undercard, exciting fighter with a really high output and a lot of guts. Worried he'll be outgunned and give Broner too many openings, but I'm sure everyone would love to see an upset there.

Anyways, looking forward to Frampton/Santa Cruz II and Garcia/Thurman.
Adrien Bonehead could disappear for all I care.
Re: Some decent fights on the horizon.
From 0 to 100 in sixty seconds is Showtime ;D Decent scraps building there. I'm not sold at all on Mikey Garcia being fast tracked after time out and coming back at 135-140 and he should be in deep with Klaticanin. That is a solid card! Thurman v Garcia needs to happen but the cynic in me will wait until inner politics play thru to believe Haymon.

Sad indictment on the state of Aus boxing when the general press is laughing at and hanging shit on 'The greatest fight in Aussie history'.

154 Jarrett Hurd fighting on the Danny Garcia card! Think this guy is one to watch. Original opponent had to pull out so now it's Jo Jo Dan :-X
Re: Some decent fights on the horizon.
Jesus Cuellar (28-1, 21 KOs) will defend his secondary belt against former three-division world titleholder Abner Mares (29-2-1, 15 KOs) six months after it was postponed due to Mares’ inability to get a boxing license in New York because of a failed eye exam.... I root for Abner Mares because he's always willing to risk all in order to land his own best punches and he signed a boxing glove for my son... :) But, I worry for Abner because Mares had surgery for a detached retina in 2008 and think Cuellar will be ruthless and try to target the old injury... Also the co-feature will pit junior middleweight world titleholder Jermall Charlo (24-0, 18 KOs), of Houston, against mandatory challenger Julian "J Rock" Williams (22-0-1, 14 KOs), of Philadelphia, and figures to be as competitive as the main event.... The world title doubleheader will be on Dec. 10, 2016 at the Galen Center on the USC campus....
Re: Some decent fights on the horizon.
No big fights on tonight?
Re: Some decent fights on the horizon.
Vasquez JR and Juanma are fighting tonight, does that count?:p I'll probably try and watch just for the train wreck factor, I think(hope) Vasquez isn't as dangerous as the last few guys to pole axe Juanma, but it's definitely a farce of a matchup. Lopez should not be fighting and you have to wonder if he has anyone looking out for him.

Re: Some decent fights on the horizon.
Is it crazy/annoying to anyone else that PPV fights today wouldn't have even made HBO/Showtime prior to 2000? Think about it: Barrera vs Morales, Barrera vs Hamed, Barrera vs Pac, Hagler vs Hearns, Oscar vs Mosely...etc., were available on cable networks. Manny vs Vargas?!?!? Garcia vs Thurman?!?!? Canelo vs any bum he decides to extend his charade against next?!?!? THOSE are PPV worthy fights today???? What a joke.

That is seriously bad for boxing when this crap is ppv. People should stop buying these cards and that will tell the promoters and tv companies that they can not keep taking the piss out of fans.

Think all of those were ppv also or close circuit with Hagler-Hearns. Huge difference compared to Canelo's traveling farce is most if not all were respected as competitive fights prior to the opening bell. They've just turned it into a feeding troff.

True but ppv should be the exception not the rule and now bad fights are classed as ppv because of the greed which will kill the sport.

Exactly, ppv is ideal for the culmination of the build of a fighter. The network features them on 'regular' network shows, sometimes featuring proposed opponents and then leads to a big fight. How we'd like it or how it should be anyway. Kovalev vs Ward should be the norm. More often than not now a promoter just uses them as vehicle to feature fighters in heavily favored bouts. Honestly Manny v Vargas is decent..not great but decent. It just doesn't belong near a PPV. Crawford-Postol good fight. Terrible ppv. Canelo-Smith was probably one of the worst ppv cards can remember.

Think the only two that may have been PPV were Oscar vs Shane and MAB vs Morales 3. Hell, MAB vs McKinney was on the first HBO boxing after dark and that was light years better than Canelo vs Smith. Hamed vs Kelley was HBO as well. In the early nineties we paid 10 bucks to watch Evander decision Foreman, and 20 to watch Riddick beat Evander for the title. Lennox Lewis blew out Razor Ruddock Halloween night on HBO. Talk about changing for the worse. Pretty sure Meldrick Taylor vs JCC 1 was on HBO as well. I'm getting depressed now...

Now you pay $100 for Floyd v Manny, 5 years past its sell by date. :(
