Ancient Larry Holmes against ancient George Foreman was being mooted at one point. I'm glad it never happened.
Mayweather against Golovkin was also a stupid match up that was being discussed.
Boxing being boxing, it's actually easier to list stupid fights that DID happen ...... Ali/Holmes, Leonard/Duran III, Louis/Marciano, Leonard/Camacho, Haye/anybody recently
Vitali vs Valuev was always a stupid fight I wanted to see....just the sheer size of those guys. It would have been a stupid fight because let's face it Vitali would have just decimated Valuev.

You missed the 'before they were near shot' part ;D. Jones was dropping Trinidads name when he was 168 going on 175 and Tito was still a welter. Stupid if it had happened then and when it did. I think Jones and the media we're clamoring for Tyson/heavyweight move cause boredom had set in with 175 mismatches. And he had work to do with the German fella? He would have lined his pockets PPV wise with a patched back together Tyson (who probably would have lost shot win or lose at Lewis) but arguably he self sabotaged himself longevity wise with Ruiz move to heavyweight and was all down hill. I've always said this was the fight for Manny. I would've matched Manny with Danny Garcia followed by Canelo and then retire instead of fighting Floyd. Stylistically he matches up well with the first two and I just don't see Floyd losing to Manny. I want people to fight in their own divisions. This yo-yo in weight stuff is a major problem. Why would anyone fight the hard fights in their division if there is even a chance they can get the payday against the Star 3 division up or 3 divisions down? The sport has become a circus act. And it doesn't just effect the clowns. The guys that set up the tents know if they hang around they just might get sent out to perform.
