The Computer Game thread
There are threads on books, films, sex and oh so many more on politics, so I thought I would start a thread about computer games.
I am playing The Witcher 3 GOTY edition. Now that I am at home rebuilding I am playing this a bit and I am enjoying it so far. It seems to be pretty huge and with all the extra material in the GOTY edition, it will likely take a very long time to finish. At first I was thinking 'What's this Lord of the Rings shit? But you get used to all the weirdness. After this I want to play the new Tomb Raider as it looks beautiful and I am really into that adventuring thing.
What games are you into at the moment?

Re: The Computer Game thread
I really want a ps4 but I know I don't play enough games to make it worth my while.
I've got a ps3 and only own 2 games for it, call of duty and fight night.
I just want a ps4 for red dead 2, and I wanna play that no man's sky

Re: The Computer Game thread
There's a lot of good games out there Batman. I am really looking forward to RDR2 as well. I loved the last one. I don't consider myself a serious gamer but I do like to take on a big game every couple of months. Sometimes these new games are just so big which is great value for money but in The Witcher 3 I have forgotten what the main story is all about. I AM SO DISTRACTED BY SIDE QUESTS!

Re: The Computer Game thread
I love to play army games

Re: The Computer Game thread
Sons play Assasins Creed, Destiny, Mine Craft, terraria(I do not know if I am spelling them right)

Yeah my problem is that I like to play my playstation whilst having a few cans and listening to music, a lot of today's games require the sound to be on, that's why I have stuck with Fight Night for so long, I can play it whilst I'm steaming drunk with my music blasting and still destroy everyone on the hardest setting.
RDR was brilliant, I loved that game, and I loved Arkham Asylum and Arkham city.
Another problem is that I don't have enough stamina for big games these days, I'm a casual gamer at best, I struggle with massive story lines because I lose interest in a game after a few weeks (I bought the last of us when it first came out and played it for all of 20 minutes before deciding I was bored by it, haven't ever touched it since)
One of my favourite games of all time though is Heavy Rain, fucking awesome that was, the other one was alright as well, the one with the little poltergeist dude, wasn't as good but still decent.

Where is the sex thread?
The one with the mammary organs floating about.
I spent a good few hours today playing The Witcher 3 and I am getting into it now. You have to stay away from the side quests and do them at the end.
I think I can have it done along with all the bonus content by Christmas when I can buy Tomb Raider and pretend that I too have mammary organs.

I know what you mean with the long games. I am still playing the Witcher 3 and I have tallied up 50 hours so far and all I have been doing is discovering places and doing side missions and contracts. It's alright as the game is really good, but if I was working right now I would only be able to play and hour here or there and I wouldn't be into it at all. I sit there and do it in 4 hour chunks and still I just open up new undiscovered places and thus still ignore the main story which is apparently very long too. I am having a blast, but this is going to end up being the biggest game I have ever played. It's amazing how much content they have put into this.
GTA 5 was a big game, but this is going to dwarf that by quite a margin in the end. Massive. I bought the Game of the Year Edition so it also has the two download extra add ons that will apparently add another 70 hours of gameplay time. This could end up being over 270 hours. That is just ridiculous. It's like a month of your life if you play 9-5 everyday. It's no wonder gamers end up becoming nerds who sit in the dark acting like they have Tourette's.

@Batman I just got the new PlayStation and was looking for a boxing game. All I saw was ufc. Do they make a boxing game for ps4
-
Re: The Computer Game thread
Unfortunately no boxing game for the PS4, Walrus. Fight Night was a good series on the PS3, but the makers abandoned it for that weird wrestling and kicking thing that has none of the beauty and artistry of boxing.

Re: The Computer Game thread
Anyone remember playing Castle Wolfenstein and pulling off multi diagonal shot kills ;D. Little stick figure dude marching across the screen with the footsteps that sound like he was walking on coconut shells. Or State of Decay, still. Alright that was random.

Re: The Computer Game thread
Damn I hate to say I got my PlayStation a week ago and only have used it one day. I spent 250 usd on it. Kind of a waste if I don't use it. Won't be able to use it this week as I'm traveling but next week I'm going to force myself to use it. I'm cheap and refuse to spend that much and not use it
-
Re: The Computer Game thread
Try to set aside a regular 'play' time. I try to limit myself to about 4 games a year. Mind you if games are going to be as long as Witcher 3 I might have to reduce it to two. Four more hours on Witcher. I guess I am really immersed in that world. You have no other choice!

Re: The Computer Game thread
Well I'm getting a PS4 on Friday
£110 with a headset, Fallout 4, GTA 5, Destiny and Diablo

Re: The Computer Game thread
I consider myself to be from the first generation of proper gamers, I grew up with the mega drive, the consoles grew at the same rate as me...sadly they have surpassed me now.
-
Re: The Computer Game thread
Same here. Streets of Rage, Sonic, etc were great. I lost touch with gaming, but rediscovered it with the PS2. You know, I am still playing bloody Witcher 3. It's just too big. I like to feel like I am making progress with a game, but the GOTY edition does not physically end. It is great that they have gone to such effort in making a big, big game, but I have books to read, documentaries to watch, and I am feeling short of time even though I have lots of time. The game is like a full time job and I cannot stop because once I start something I have to finish it. I am what is known as an addict.

Re: The Computer Game thread
Good score on getting a PS4 with that bundle for that price, BTW. I think you should start with GTA 5 and ease your way into it if you are not a big gamer. Feel the world out, practice target shooting, swimming etc just to get your ratings up and then dive into the game proper. You can easily do a couple of missions each day. Try not to get too addicted!

I've already got GTA on the ps3 so I'm good with that, I'm looking forward to wasting hours on fallout but I think I'm gunna get witcher 3 as well.

Re: The Computer Game thread
Got my PS4 under my desk at work, can't wait to get home and get it set up.
First game will be either fallout or bloodborne

Bloodborne is the only game I have never completed. Looks and plays great, but it's so difficult and you have no guide on how to do it. When you die it takes a minute or 2 to load and you die a lot. You have been warned! I don't get the high reception it got. No way the reviewers got through any of it.

Fallout will suck hours and days off the clock if it's your thing. Still haven't played 4.
-
Re: The Computer Game thread
Bloodborne is fucking awesome, me and my mate were up until 2:30am playing it, brilliant game, not sure how I'll get on when he isn't around to guide me though, I have no internal compass and quite easily get lost in a small room with only one exit.
Just been playing fallout this morning, it's pretty much that same as the others, I'm probably gunna spend all of today wondering round getting lost in it and not actually doing much.
-
Re: The Computer Game thread
You like it? Interesting. I rarely give up on a game but had to with that one. It looks great, but is so frustrating. It has no save points so with the You Died screen and having to grind to increase your stats, I just got really bored. It is a very highly rated game, but The Witcher 3 does it all much better IMO. Bloodborne has no story and I didn't get why I was in that world. I'm curious to see if you stick with it.
-
Re: The Computer Game thread
I'm pretty sure that there is a story to it (quite a good one from what I've heard) but you have to stick with it and kind of unravel the yourself.
I like it because it is a proper throw back to the mega drive days of Ghouls and Ghosts, you get killed and you go right the way back to the start, non of this bollocks where you save the game right before a hard point and just stroll your way through, you have to work for it.
Having said that I played it on my own without my mate to navigate me today and it is safe to say that I am pretty fucking useless at it.
-
Re: The Computer Game thread
Assassin Creed has a film coming out if you like stories so much.

I gave it more than 2 weeks to grow on me and in the first week tried to convince myself it was good too...the lack of save points would make sense with a normal difficulty curve but Bloodborne is designed to torture the player. I got through a fair few bosses and there was not much of a story there. You will see! If you complete it I will be impressed.

Oh I won't complete it, if I get 3 weeks out of it then it has done well.
It doesn't mean it's not a good game, I just have a massive lack of stamina with games, my level is COD (online) and fight night.
