Jean Pascal..is coming back?
Am I the only one that thinks he should just retire?
If he isn't going for kovalev again then he should just call it a day or even run to cruiserweight.
What more has he got to offer?

Re: Jean Pascal..is coming back?
Well he clearly wont fight Kova again, nor should he. As long as he steers clear of him and Ward I think he could be some kind of player, Id still give him a shot to beat Stevenson for example, in what is such a logical fight to make, they both fight out of the same city ffs. Stevenson dodged that one too by all accounts, that guy is such a fraud of a champion.

Re: Jean Pascal..is coming back?
I loved how Kov didn't pull any punches even after the fight

Re: Jean Pascal..is coming back?
Don't really see the point and long road back after two destructions at the hands of Kovalev. I thought he was dabbling in training guys?

Re: Jean Pascal..is coming back?
Pascal has unfinished local business with Bute and Stevenson.

I wouldn't mind seeing him in there against Ward. He's just unorthodox enough and powerful enough that he may give Ward problems. Ward got away with a lot of grappling against Kovalev, which basically neutralized a lot of Kov's strengths. I'm not 100% sure he'd be able to do that with Pascal.

This could be a possible scenario for a few rounds, but we all know Pascal doesn't have the stamina to keep up with Ward.

Re: Jean Pascal..is coming back?
Even Hopkins was able to tie up Pascal and wear him out on the inside, when he didn't want any part of trying that against Kova. Pascal(used to) get inside very quickly, but he didn't stay there to any effect. Ward is physically stronger than he might look and I wouldn't be too interested seeing that one.

Re: Jean Pascal..is coming back?
Didn't realize he has a fight in couple of weeks. But just on face of it Ward picking a Pascal as optional falls flat as he was just twice destroyed by the man many don't even think Ward beat in the first place. Pascal has had a tough run of 3 in a row but how he isn't ranked top ten by alphabet boys is hard to believe??? I don't even know what a 'Shefat Isufi' is but I'd bet insulting street lingo before a bet a top ten boxer.

cant argue with this PK

Re: Jean Pascal..is coming back?
why should he retire?
he's right up there and in the peak of his life and could still make lots and lots of money
retiring would be very daft

Re: Jean Pascal..is coming back?
If hes looking to earn, He can still do that. Just avoid the big punchers and high work rate fighters (i think yunieski gonzalez might be able to beat him better than the first time if they rematched now that kovalev has put a few cracks in that chin) So he trains and they give him a fight vs ward before his stock drops anymore... so they can draw comparisons to kovalev and hype the rematch. This raises wards stock in the Canelo price out pissing match that wards side is about to instigate over the percentages.

Re: Jean Pascal..is coming back?
He's a big ticket seller. He can potentially have a few more paydays and maybe get some kind of a title fight at some point for some beltholder who doesn't sell tickets. You're a long time retired and most of these guys aren't exactly brilliant at investing their money.

I thought Paul Kevin put it much better myself.

I've almost become accustomed to his incomprehensible single line blabber.
But plagiarism?

First I thought you were referring to me with incomprehensible and blabber :-X but then it mentions a single line. Now we all know full well that's just not going to ever happen.
plagiarism will not stand! You don't just roll outta bed with this kind of back asswards wit and double speak FFS :furious2:

Re: Jean Pascal..is coming back?
Paul Kevin is just so much better at getting his point across though.

I didn't know what @Spicoli was going on about, then when Pauli K said it I was in the picture

Re: Jean Pascal..is coming back?
He has a few good fights in him and he could beat very good boxers, perhaps not the elite like Kovalev (obviously) or Ward, but he could beat some decent names. I am sure we'll see him against Stevenson very soon; here in Montreal, it would sell like crazy, there is rivalry between the two and both are pretty much at the end of their career, especially Stevenson who will turn 39 very soon.

Re: Jean Pascal..is coming back?
If I was him, I'd only return if I could get a fight with Adonis "Quack Quack" Stevenson.
That bout would be massive in Canada & an easy sell.

Actually, it's not that much that Stevenson is a chicken rather than GYM, his promoter, knows that what's at stake is huge and they do want to milk Stevenson as much as possible before his last hurrah. He'll fight Kovalev, everybdy wants to see it... once they know that he has nothing remaining in him and that it's his last big big payday. And that's sad that it works that way.

Maybe Adonis has more chance against Ward than Kov and may try to unify?

Man, I don't know. I think that he has all the pop to knock out Ward without too much problem. If Kovy has been able to deck him, Stevenson can knock out him easy as A-B-C. However, I am not sure that he could touch him often enough to get the crack. I used to think so, I even thought at some point that he'd smash Kovy too but after seeing him in his last 2 fights, I am really not sure anymore that he could beat either. He's getting old (38 or 39 I believe) and I think that the little fraction of second he'd need to time his shots well against these two is gone. I think.

I always felt Kov would beat Adonis but Ward would may be a sucker for the power left hand.
