So unknown I forgot his second name during recording!
This is the first time ITV have done ppv and hopefully it will be the last and it all falls flat on its face.
Eubank's opponent lost to Geale, who is shot and has lost to Cotto at Middleweight before his loss to GGG.
I dont mind the fight. But the PPV needs to flop. Cant have fights like this on PPV! Imagine how shite this card is going to be.
I think Frankie Boyle made some very good points.
I didn't at any stage say he is good.
Geale has lost 5 times and Renold Quinlan is the only one to beat him who hasn't been a world champion.
Mentioning also that on boxrec Quinlan is ranked higher than Andre Direll, Badou Jack and Lucian Bute.
and just below Martin Murray, Arthur Abraham and Felix Strum, doesn't mean much but obviously someone rates him.
This is a not a PPV fight fair enough but to bash his opponent just because you don't think hes a name in boxing or because you don't wanna pay to watch the fight is insane.
Well I'm not knocking the opponent, I'm knocking Eubank Jr. In a way this could be a good thing , because it could be a complete flop!
However, Joe Public never cease to amaze me at how much they're prepared to be mugged off.
If you're having to look for reasons as to why a PPV might be ok, it means it's crap. Serving up crap on PPV is OK, as long as you know people will buy(Joshua V Anyone) But going in at the deep end with a PPV event that is being carried by the Eubanks is fucking insanity.
It's a lot of things and terrible is certainly one of them. Does Charles Bronson @Andre even know who Renold Quinlan is? Quinlan may have stopped Geale quicker than Golovkin but that was after he lost to Golovkin and a 45 year old Cotto. After Cotto and Golovkin the biggest names on Geales record are Darren Barker, (who as much as I loved the guy was only known here in the UK because he was one of a number of equally talented fighters at the same weight who studiously avoided and never fought each other) who he lost to, and Mundine who of course is a big name in Oz and ...well that's it. The Eubanks might be fooling each other by sharing the same Kool aid fountain but it ain't the real thing and you know it. (and no it's not IRn-Bru either).
I feel like people are misunderstanding me.
I never said it was a good ppv.
No, but you said it wasn't terrible, which is trying to justify it. Well as a PPV, it is terrible. The matchup is fine , but the fight is no more than a decent undercard fight on a non PPV bill.
And then you said "perhaps the 1st one should be free", which is a bit of an oxymoron. If it was free it wouldn't be a PPV , it would be just another fight on ITV.
oxymoron
a figure of speech in which apparently contradictory terms appear in conjunction (e.g. faith unfaithful kept him falsely true ).
So I might not be an Oxbridge graduate, but "Free PPV" fits the bill in my book, but if I'm wrong I apologise.
And besides, your idea is flawed because technically the Carl Frampton fight against the poor guy who died the other day was the first free PPV . So they've already had the old "try before you buy."
You accused people of misunderstanding you, but you're misunderstanding them. The fight is ok, but the PPV aspect is ridiculous.
No longer listed on boxrec. Could be for any number of reasons but no one would be surprised if it was off.
Maybe Quinlan's team had a long list of ridiculous demands like, an actual fee, being somewhere on the poster, having at least one of the Eubanks turn up for the presser, not having to wear jodphurs and a monocle even for a promo video, allowing the corner man to speak to his boxer, etc
Eubank Jr is shameless this fight is a insult to Boxing fans.!
A PPV the opponent he seems to spout shit like his old man I for one have found it to be tiresome.
In the beginning it was entertaining now he's just ridiculous.
It was free on channel 5 so I tolerated it but to pay for this "entertainment" you must be joking.
This is a good interview from Chris Eubank senior on radio which was good to listen.
BBC iPlayer - HARDtalk - Chris Eubank
When you said it was worth a listen , I thought I'd have a look. Fair play, what a complete Cunt Eubank is.
I'm getting a bit bored with his drivel and complete stupidity. The guy is full of shit and there is nothing more cringeworthy than somebody stupid who thinks they're intelligent.
He actually said and I rewound it "life expectancy nowadays is 100 years old." And "boxing needs me!" Silly cunt!
I ain't never gonna get that half hour back.
My point was that he is so up himself he can not see how much he contradicts himself and ends up looking so foolish.
Ha! I got as for as "My fear is for the opponents and that includes Golovkin himself" :-\ ;D What a pompous deluded idiot the man is. It's still all about him and that amount of vanity and self preening is beyond tiresome. It's quite disrespectful to the art of boxing itself, their opponents and the fans to carry on with such a charade. I hope the PPV bombs and that they make a huge financial loss. If your own arrogance and self importance has you turning down the opportunity to make a huge financial and professional legacy for yourself in one, fight then you deserve to end up scraping for pennies. There are so many talented fighters who down to lack of resources, geographical location, bad matchmaking and so on that never get those opportunities it sickens me. On top of that you have to factor in the luck factor which Jr does not need whilst sitting on the tailcoats of his Dad. He didn't need to slug it out in small shows and risk himself against someone from the next rung up in order to grab peoples attention. He had that attention from the start. While it may also be a royal pain in the arse it's not like he has learnt by looking at his old man and thinking 'Hang on a minute I don't need this strutting peacock rubbish I can do my talking in the ring, he has embraced it and mimicks the same rubbish himself.
Heres hoping Quinlan gets lucky and sparks him
Beanz you are right. I have tried to defend him but this really shows me he is clueless and will carry on regardless thinking he is right. I hope he does not damage his son during his process of his son's fame.
Eubank Jr is a talented but his dilutions of grandeur is his father.
The both have played the public it is a great pity they never put there brains into gear before there mouth.
Yes Boxing is the entertainment businesses but it's not WWE the Eubanks are show men but how long before the show has run its course hopefully not to long.
Shit we may not like promoter's imagine working with those two idiots hard-work indeed.
Eubank Jnr has the skills and asshole to be a legendary warrior like his dad..... no questioning that, problem is he simply doesn't have that brutal 1 punch KO power.
It's so deceiving watching him fight because when he goes on the attack and seriously lets his hands go the punches look massive and like they should put people to sleep but they just don't and these are British/Euro level fighters in his last 5-6 fights (Barring BJS) that he can't put away ;)
Saying that im 100% sure you'd have to put him on a stretcher before he'll stop fighting.
Wonder if he'll have more Power at Super Middle?
Eddie Hearn says the same as Warren about the Eubanks.... Liars, impossible to work with etc etc.....
Fact is Saunders v Canelo is pretty much gonna happen in 2017 and after Saunders loses i can see a BJS v Eubank rematch sooner or later down the line on BT Sports.
Whatever happens either Warren or Hearn are gonna have to work with the Eubanks again at some point because if Eubank keeps winning/improving he'll be fighting for a World title sooner or later ;)
I actually feel for Eubank Jnr and wish his dad would just fuck off and do what Nigel is doing with Connor Benn and let the kid make his own way and get on with it just like they did!
Father Eubank is holding his son back bigtime
I never understood how anyone could not think Eubank sr was an imbecile, cringe worthy is spot on, he's about as bad as people get for it imo.
When Jr throws his 30 second flurries with wild uppercuts in a rage he is really thinking of his dad :punchangry:
Like Smash said, Eubank is throwing the kitchen sink at Brit/Euro level middleweights to get them out of there. He looks strong at middle so I cant see the extra poundage resulting in a new found concussive punch at Super Middle. I dont know if this bloke he's fighting is good enough to cause the upset but I cant help feeling that it wouldn't be a bad thing. It would seem that the BJS lets only fight for half the fight debacle just wasnt enough to jar them out of this elevated state that they hold themselves in. It's beyond bonkers.
ITV will have a fit if Eubank gets beat. Then again, the event isnt going to be the 6 million PPV buys commercial success that Snr promises it to be either. Whichever way you slice it, ITV are going to be left thinking was it worth it.
Am waiting for an announcement on price for this one - won't be buying it just intrigued.
Is there anyone apart from Eubank, ITV and his promoters who doesn't want this to fail miserably ??
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uWHNmkjkGDE
I find Eubank Snr a facinating character, I cant help but like him. I know it's a long interview but it's worth it just for the pause at the Billy Joe Saunders question.
Have a listen if you've got time and let me know what you think. Im not sure if it changed my mind on anything, but I did see certain things a bit differently.
Senior has delusions of grandeur, which is a false impression of one's own importance. He is so up his own ass he can not see that he is over complicating things when they do not have to be.
I dont doubt that for a second, I've said before that it feels like he is obligated to reject out of hand anything put before him on the premise that he's surely getting screwed.
By the same token it's also worth remembering that he's dealing with Frank Warren and Eddie Hearn. Regardless of the years that separate them, Frank and Eddie are the same, cut from the same cloth and singing from the same hymn sheet. If Eubank has rubbed one of them up the wrong way, it stands to reason to me that the other would follow suit. The fact that Eddie and Frank agree on this could be as much of a confirmation that they are both cunts, as it could Eubank being impossible to deal with.
One thing I know for sure because I saw it with my own eyes, he cost his son the Billy Joe Saunders fight.
Eubank is a dumb ex boxer who likes the sound of his own lisping voice , no sane person takes anything this idiot says as fact.
