Joseph Parker-Hughie Fury - April 1st New Zealand.

Re: Joseph Parker-Hughie Fury - April 1st New Zealand.
Hughie is with Warren isn't he? I would have thought they'd move heaven and Earth to get that in the UK. It's got 12 rounds written all over it.

Re: Joseph Parker-Hughie Fury - April 1st New Zealand.
The time of the fight will be in the morning?

Re: Joseph Parker-Hughie Fury - April 1st New Zealand.

Well Frank Warren, just like Eddie Hearn are full of shit. But then again I'm not saying anything everyone doesn't know.
Warren makes a big song and dance about signing a future HW World Champ, and now we know how much he values him! Not fucking much.
You would have thought Warren would've pushed the boat out to get this, you can't tell me he can't make money with a total purse of $3 million!! Dollars mind , not even Sterling . A HW World title fight with one of your Stable for just £2 and a bit Million? Is it Aussie Dollars? That's even less!!

Re: Joseph Parker-Hughie Fury - April 1st New Zealand.
Hughie has a 50% ko rate to Parkers 82% it's the boxer vs the puncher. Parker will win it!
-
Re: Joseph Parker-Hughie Fury - April 1st New Zealand.
Hughie has a real job on his hands trying to get a decision in New Zealand judging by the Ruiz Jr fight. But then, his cousin also did in Germany...

I thought Takam deserved a draw and Ruiz at the least a draw if not a close win. Fury will need to win a lot of rounds clearly to get the nod. Very even fight on paper.

Re: Joseph Parker-Hughie Fury - April 1st New Zealand.
Interesting that Fury is getting 40% of the purse split here.

Standard for a mandatory challenger.

I thought it was 75% to 25%

Re: Joseph Parker-Hughie Fury - April 1st New Zealand.
Hughie would've never made close to a million squid before. Even if Warren could afford it, do you do your bollocks on a geezer that has no following? So far he's an undercard/leisure centre fighter, it's not like he's gonna pack out the 02/MEN (they couldn't sell Tyson Fury let alone Hughie).
I just watched the Parker-Ruiz fight for the first time (was away ill when that happened). Didn't score rd-by-rd but thought Fatty edged it. As far as styles go, it has no bearing on the Hughie fight, but flick and skip better bring a horseshoe to have a chance.

Re: Joseph Parker-Hughie Fury - April 1st New Zealand.
Parker should have about 4-5 mil sized crowd.

If Parker fights outside of NZ I thought he gets 80%. Samoa, Singapore have expressed interest in hosting the fight but Manchester seems the likely location if not in New Zealand.

Correct, 75 - 25 split if in NZ, 80 - 20 anywhere else.

Hughie Fury 'will not repeat cousin Tyson's mistakes'
Hughie Fury will not make the same mistakes as his cousin, former world heavyweight champion Tyson, says his dad and trainer Peter.
Fury will face New Zealand's Joseph Parker for the WBO heavyweight title in April, with a venue yet to be decided.
Parker beat Mexican Andy Ruiz Jr in December to claim the belt that was vacated by Tyson Fury in October.
"Hughie is an exceptional character. He doesn't drink, he doesn't smoke, he doesn't do anything," Peter Fury said.
Speaking to BBC Radio 5 live, he added: "I don't see where he can fall out of bed or go wrong.
"He is a nice young man in and out of the ring. He doesn't put on any image or front. He is a just a consummate professional - totally dedicated."
Tyson Fury said last year he had taken cocaine to help him deal with depression, and then gave up his WBO and WBA world heavyweight titles before having his licence to fight temporarily revoked.
"I am highly confident Hughie will toe the line," added Peter Fury. "He will be sensible - but, then again, I didn't think Tyson would ever do the things he has done.
"I'm not saying he's a quiet lad, but he is just normal. He is very pleasant, he's got no pressures. He's not married. He is totally dedicated to his sport."
However, Peter, who trained Tyson, hopes his nephew will return to the ring - with or without him in his corner.
"There has been a lot mistakes made after winning the world title. He has made a lot of bad judgements," he said.
"Whatever he does in the future, I am very proud of him for what he achieved in the sport."

I wonder why it says Tyson will return "with or without Peter in the corner "?
Probably the reporters being mischievous.

Hey @ross you seem to be quite clued up on the Fury's. Do you think Peter will have any trouble entering New Zealand with his criminal record?

No idea! Maybe. I think theY will have considered this long ago seeing as they have experience having to deal with it. Prime example being Tyson v Cunningham.

New Zealand is pretty strict. I don't think they allowed Mike Tyson in.

Re: Joseph Parker-Hughie Fury - April 1st New Zealand.
How big a blow would it be to Hughie not to have his father/ trainer in his corner for his first World Title fight? In the champions country as well. Would it be enough for him to pull out?

Ross meant Tyson Fury v Steve Cunningham

Got that. I was meaning NZ didn't let Mike Tyson in because of his convictions.

I don't think they woulda took the fight in NZ if Peter can't enter. It's a bit different to Tyson Fury v Cunningham in the sense that that was a step up the ladder fight with an opportunity to fight at MSG (albeit an afternoon matinee), whereas this has serious meaning for a World Title at stake.

Maybe Hughie has had second thoughts and thinks it is too soon for him.

Re: Joseph Parker-Hughie Fury - April 1st New Zealand.
I don't believe a single thing that Peter Fury says anymore, already expecting the excuses for why Hughie can't take this fight.
It's a joke if he doesn't take it, he only has a name because of his cousin. Swerving AJ and Wilder is understandable and the excuses about time and money could have been kosher, but this time they don't have no money or preperation excuses. You'd think they'd be jumping at the chance, a "world" title shot against a beatable, virtual novice. Certainly the weakest link of the "champions."

Ill reserve judgement just yet as looking at the boxingscene story Duco events haven't even finalised a venue yet. I'm wondering if they have bitten off more than they can chew and finding they can't really afford to put it on in New Zealand. Peter has said he's waiting for the contract to be sent back and if there is no venue yet that would make sense because that would have to be on the contract. He tagged Duco Events in on that statement so they have a right to reply if it's bullshit.

I have to agree. we can all summise, but let's see if the deadline comes and goes. when we have the full facts, it's easier to have an opinion.

Re: Joseph Parker-Hughie Fury - April 1st New Zealand.
Warren announced they've just signed.
Lost the April 1st date as they took to long to sign.
They had no excuses about venues, they lost the purse bid, they either wanted the fight or not. Hence the WBO publically putting them on a deadline

If you are signing a contract for a fight things like a venue have to be on there. If the venue isn't then they can't say stuff like changing room provision etc either. Would you sign a contract that didn't tell you all you need to know so fight night you can be fucked around? Peter is a shrewd man. It was down to him that all Wlads usual tricks weren't allowed to go on and his fighter won THE heavyweight title in Germany. You may not want to hear or believe what he has to say but the man is proven at what he does.
-
Re: Joseph Parker-Hughie Fury - April 1st New Zealand.
Yeah, yeah, but the hold up was from their end, they had a contract, hence the WBO giving the ultimatum. They wouldn't have had a leg to stand on if they pulled out.
I have no doubt Peter is a shrewd, ruthless cunt behind closed doors not to be fucked with.
-
Re: Joseph Parker-Hughie Fury - April 1st New Zealand.
right, so I guess Fury has signed. Sounds like his team are just taking the piss, and playing on Team Parker's inexperience. I don't have a problem with that. you have to get every advantage you can , especially as the away fighter.
But if you live by the sword.......If he loses , I don't want hear any dirty tricks accusations , spiked food or any other such nonsense.
