Where will Haye be in the next 6 months?
I think an injury like that takes at least 6 months so he has to rest again.
Fat Bellew will stay at heavyweight now.
He'll be on Loose Women on Monday along with a pair of crutches
Surgery, rehab, rematch. It will sell because at some point he will start talking about the injury and Bellew will act like it made no difference. Let's face it, neither fighter is going to be in anything any more exciting than tonight.
Get more acting coaching for his next injury excuse?
ko some no hopers and talk nonsense in the media get a fight that he can sell well... rinse and repeat :S... haye is weird, he was pretty impressive as a boxer, looks pretty bad now though, I would not pick him to beat many of the top guys now.. Brilliant self promoter though, hats off to him for the way he made his way up the heavyweight ranks, media manipulating genius.. well done haye
Hayes done. His career has been plagued by injuries and hes prone to sick notes. At 36 getting older, slower and unable to throw a straight punch I think his body is giving out on him and he'd have done himself a favour if he stayed on his stool.
He showed heart tonight enough to retire removing the memory of lack of heart vs Klitschko. We don't want a year of rehabilitation followed by a year of fighting Demoris and gjagajis etc for him to return aged 40 as the new and improved David Haye version 3.0 only for another domestic guy to add another Ko loss to his record. His Shoulder stopped him from throwing punches properly, now his ankles don't work and stopped him from standing properly. Next it will be his hands or he'll come hobbling in wearing knee braces like Sergio Martinez so I can't see him salvaging his career. It's over. This is a young mans game & David looks good externally but physically he is an accident waiting to happen. Sad to see him on the floor shaking his head in disappointment, his head was fine but body wouldn't react, that's the sign to get out the game. Thanks for the memories David
Bellew is utter garbage . however he did the boxing basics. Haye was swinging like a kid in a playground , he needs to fuck off into the night because real boxing fans are tired of him.
Tony still took all Hayes best shots.
The injury obviously played a part but David made the mistake of fighting bums prior to this fight.
David will be out for awhile with his ankle and will probably now start looking for a world title money fight with Briggs if the rematch isn't made.
Felt sorry for David fighting on one leg but kudos to bellow for avoiding and taking some of the big shots as well.
It's time for Fury to return..
Fury will tell it like it is.
Haye is like a clapped out car on his last legs.
Bellew has no right campaigning at heavyweight based on that performance.
The injury paves the way for a rematch and they'll milk it again. His body will let him down again though.
Rematch in Liverpool
I need to know whether Haye was already injured coming into the fight or whether he injured it during the fight.
We all thought it was a mismatch and it proved otherwise.
Haye can recover from this and still get 3 or 4 more fights under his belt.
He will sell himself big time to get back in the mix.
Haye will be lucky to get his Mum and Dad watching his next fight , he lost to a garbage fighter.
completely off topic, I have been living in this place now for nearly 3 months and I have just noticed that there is a lock on the bathroom door, after realizing that I locked myself in whilst I had a piss...yeah my old place never had locks or shit like that...I suppose it goes to show how many visitors I get...
Any way back on topic...eeerrrrrrr....yeah, Haye is a cunt
Bellew is better than his last x2 chump opponents and the world crusierweight champion.
Bellew had a game plan and stuck to it and took all of Hayes early hayemakers..he still fought a one legged fighter from the 6th round BUT he did step up to the heavyweight division to achieve it.
Sad way for Haye to loose but I still think he has 3-4 fights left in him..
It is clear Haye will not be a world class contender ever again. If he can not beat Bellew then he will never beat AJ.
He'll launch a return publicity bid on Dancing with the stars under the name "Twinkle Toes" and place 3rd.
What he should do is retire.
What he'll probably do is call out the winner of the Wlad-AJ fight, claiming it's his place up in that ring.
He'll be back. There is still plenty of dough on the table for him not to.
Haye knows he would get slaughtered, Haye is not up to take on these big heavyweights and his body is falling apart.
Haye said himself he has no business fighting for a title if he can not beat Bellew. It would be a logical fight for him to take the rematch offered and he can get fit again.
David Haye's career has reached a "sad" position, says Tony Bellew's trainer Dave Coldwell.
Haye, 36, has had surgery on an Achilles injury sustained in Saturday's heavyweight defeat by Bellew in London.
Coldwell, who once worked for Haye, said the ex-world heavyweight champion produced his "bravest performance" in fighting on while injured in the bout.
"He will always be someone I looked at and thought 'wow'," Coldwell said. "To see how it's turned out, it is sad."
Coldwell was head of boxing for Hayemaker Promotions from 2008 to 2011, a period during which Haye became WBA world heavyweight champion.
"I feel sorry for him," Coldwell told BBC Radio 5 live's boxing podcast.
"When I worked with [trainer] Adam Booth and David, he was at his best, a special athlete with special potential. I just wish him all the best now."
Coldwell was the target of insults from Haye in an acrimonious build-up to the Bellew bout, which ended with opposing trainer Shane McGuigan throwing in the towel to save a stricken Haye after he was put down in the 11th round.
Haye's future is unclear but on Monday he said he had been told by medical experts he could make "a 100% recovery back to full fitness".
Liverpool's Bellew could now defend his WBC cruiserweight title or fight for a second time at heavyweight, potentially against WBO champion Joseph Parker or Deontay Wilder, who holds the WBC title.
"I've said all along, he can't compete with 6ft 8in beasts like [IBF heavyweight champion] Anthony Joshua," Coldwell said. "Joseph Parker on the other hand, he's still learning, he's not the beast people said at the beginning."

Haye Bellew 2 would sell out the same as Haye Bellew 1, if not faster
they could do Wembley now, Bellew might be wise waiting for Haye, it would probably be a massive earner for him
Coldwell saying Hayes career is sad? why is it sad? he is a multi millionaire, and could now go and earn another 5+ million for one fight
and I would like to see it again, it was a good fight but a disappointing result because of the circumstance, the injury was the result, there's no two ways about it
Agreed. The injury and Bellew win has only fuelled the appetite from fans.
Haye would probably be a massive favourite again with those betting against him doing so on his body and fitness breaking down rather than Bellew breaking him down
Haye wants a Trilogy with Bellew
https://www.theguardian.com/sport/20...bellew-rematch
What a joke.
Haye got around £4.2 million and Bellew £2.8 million
Bellew would be a fucking idiot to turn down the reverse of that purse, if he really wants to secure his familys future like he says then there it is... right there for him on a silver platter.
Could sell out Goodison Park easily so the overall chunk of money to be split 60-40 would be even more too
It's that genius a financial plan you'd think they planned it
Well good luck to them if they rematch however I doubt I will be watching live this time , the fight was a stinker.
you didn't enjoy it?
