Josh Warrington v Kiko Martinez 13 MAY
So this probably why Fury mentioned the 13 May as a possible comeback date. Warrington brings a decent following, though nothing like that of Hatton as Frank is suggesting, but a decent fight nonetheless with Adams making here hometown Pro showing, after debuting on the 8 April.

Re: Josh Warrington v Kiko Martinez 13 MAY
This should be interesting. Martinez always turns up to fight although I think he's well down the other side of the slope at this stage. A good experience fight for Warrington. He should get some decent rounds against an aggressive former belt holder.

Re: Josh Warrington v Kiko Martinez 13 MAY
Kiko is good enough to pull an upset as at his best he was better than Josh would ever be but could be past it now.

Martinez is well past it now. In saying that Hasegawa had one final resurgence. 122 was his best weight and Warrington's young and style will be the deciding factors in this one.

Warrington doesn't hit hard enough to be a big star does he
funny coz he's ripped

Re: Josh Warrington v Kiko Martinez 13 MAY
Good fight for Warrington this is, do we know where it is being fought?
Warrington will never be a superstar but he's a good little fighter, I hope he does well.

Some muscle fighters like Bradley just can not hit hard but people like Tito who looked frail was a huge puncher.

Yeah funny how some string bean guys like Hearns or Foster can hit like a mule. They just get that leverage.

Re: Josh Warrington v Kiko Martinez 13 MAY
yeah you cant tell how hard a fighter hits from his physique
at the same time tho, Josh doesn't seem to hit hard at all and he puts a lot in to his punches
and with a physique like that youd expect him to hit harder than he does

Josh will fight most if not all his fights at home as he has huge support. The atmosphere seems like a darts match.

That's a good thing tho for the time being. He will have to travel sooner or later tho.

Re: Josh Warrington v Kiko Martinez 13 MAY
Warrington is like Mayweather
wanna know why? ill tell ya
Mayweather made is big in a time where there were no other americans around, he really was the only American elite level fighter, didn't matter that his fighting style was dull, he gave the americans something to shout about in the only truly global sport that the country plays, right place at the right time
And Leeds really don't have anything to shout about on the sporting side nowadays, the football team has been struggling for years and the rest of Yorkshire are getting more note than its "capital" in other sporting areas, so Josh Warrington is really the only sporting success out of leeds at the minute, and hes not doing badly out of it, right place at the right time

Nah mate, don't agree. Warrington and LUFC are both the same. One level below the best. But Leeds fans will always support Leeds and the same people follow Warrington.
And the same people will always support the RL Team. Why? Because they're fanatical brilliant fucking nutcases!
It's a shame Warrington isn't quite going to be the Bollocks, because then, maybe, just maybe, you could have someone to compare with Hatton.

Btw, Mayweather made it big in America because he's a WINNER!
The Americans are very fussy about who they throw money at, whereas the Brits aren't.
For example, do you honestly believe Haye v Bellew would've been very interesting to the Yanks?

Please don't patronise me as an Englishman , that I thought Haye v Bellew was anything more than a freak show.
Glass jawed fat CW beats former HW belt holder in a bore fest. It was what it was.

What's Warrington's chances against Selby? I don't think he's in that league yet.

I'm not patronising you. I know people over here saw the fight for what it was........but they still bought it.
In the States, the only way that would've sold is if it was WWE. (Unless of course they were Mexican. They seem to sell well in the States regardless of how good they are.)

Lets see how the sideshow of Briggs and Oquendo does. It will give us a good measure I guess.

Exactly my point! Let's see if they earn $9 million between them, let's see if it's ppv and if it is, what numbers it does.

Piss off with the Mayweather winner bollocks. Floyd needed a good opposition to get high figures and he was over payed by a dumb executive from the love company. Floyd is wank to watch.

Hey, I'm not some sort of Flomo, he is a Twat, that is undeniable. What is also undeniable is that he is a solid cast iron WINNER and that's a fact!
As for these "Dumb executives" , answer me this, did the deals that they made with Floyd make their Companies a profit?
So tell me, who's dumb ?

They may have made a loss, the fights against Berto and Guerrero would have had poor sales. Either way value for money in terms of entertainment Floyd must be the worst in the history of boxing.

Re: Josh Warrington v Kiko Martinez 13 MAY
Warrington did come along at the right time. With the Loyal Leeds united fan base and the new arena that opened it couldn't have been more perfect timing.
For years I've been wishing Leeds had a decent arena and a good boxer to get behind yet Im not excited about Warrington as don't think he has it to compete with the elite. I haven't even been to one of his fights at the arena yet despite it being local - did go see him fight at Leeds town hall a few years back.
I think his career will come to an end sooner rather than later but he will earn some decent money - good luck to him.
And I think Miles maybe does punch harder.

So basically you're guessing and have no factual evidence.hopefully our American friends on here can give us the facts, which I'm sure we both know will point to the fact that they made a profit on their investment in Floyd.
This is the 21st Century, nobody gives people shit loads of money for nothing. If you think them execs are dumb, then you have no grasp of the basics of business or YOU are dumb. Perhaps even both.;)

The companies will never admit they have overpaid, look at the football, they just raise the prices and move the executives.

Josh Warrington v Kiko Martinez: Leeds fighter eyes Lee Selby shot to end rivalry
Josh Warrington hopes to finally settle his feud with IBF world featherweight champion Lee Selby.
Leeds' Warrington fights Spanish former super-bantamweight world champion Kiko Martinez in his home city on Saturday.
The 26-year-old, who takes an unbeaten 24-fight record into the bout at the First Direct Arena, has one eye on ending "friction" with Welshman Selby.
"The fight and animosity have been stewing for a while and I'm very eager to prove my doubters wrong," he said.
"Last year, Selby was red-hot favourite as the world champion I'd challenge. It didn't happen, but the fight's certainly not dead.
"He gives me no credit. Let's just settle it."
Warrington said Selby, world champion since 2015, has "good variety" in the ring and is "usually very busy for six rounds".
But he added: "He thinks he's a banger when he's not. He puts far too much into his punches then fades."
Selby, who has 24 wins and a single loss on his record, has been frustrated over the past 12 months.
A fight against Jonathan Victor Barros in Las Vegas in January was called off with hours to spare, when the Argentine failed to make the weight.
Selby, who has since left promoters Matchroom Sport, is due to meet Barros in June, by which time the Barry fighter will have had just one non-title match in 14 months.
There has been talk of a fight between Selby and Northern Ireland's Carl Frampton, but Warrington is hopeful he will get his shot in a fight he believes would be staged in Leeds.
Saturday's fight with Martinez - who lost the IBF super-bantamweight title to Frampton in 2014 - tops a bill on which two-time Olympic champion Nicola Adams also features.
Martinez, 31, has lost seven of his 44 fights but his past three defeats have come in world title fights - to Frampton, Scott Quigg and Leo Santa Cruz.

Re: Josh Warrington v Kiko Martinez 13 MAY
What with Quigg and Frampton, now Warrington, Kiko is making some decent money Whoring himself out to Sky/Matchroom and now Warren. you have to question his ambition nowadays and if he's looking for paydays rather than titles. nothing wrong with that at this stage of his career , but he's moved up in weight and he was small at the lower weight, so now looks tiny.
I like Warrington and his Leeds following, and wish that he was a class above what he actually is. But the reality is all this bravado talking about Selby and what he wants to do to him is pretty unrealistic. and besides, I don't like fighters looking ahead to other fights in the build up to their current fight.
Selby is on a completely different level to Warrrington, end of.
-
Re: Josh Warrington v Kiko Martinez 13 MAY
Kiko has always fought on the road, boxing is basically non-existent in Spain. Funker has probably fought in more countries than anyone else in boxing. I can remember when he was considered an "easy" title defense for Bernard Dunne. And then when he come unstuck as favourite to smash up the bin man.
Oldest 30-year-old on the planet.
Warrington will probably stop him considering the circumstances, however, if Kiko is willing to take his lumps he'll make it a good fight. In his pomp i'd back him by KO.

Re: Josh Warrington v Kiko Martinez 13 MAY
In a completely non-related point to boxing, I think Josh Leather would make for a good extra as a Bajoran on Star Trek: DS9.

Re: Josh Warrington v Kiko Martinez 13 MAY

Nicola Adams entering the ring.
-
Davis down again 7th round with body shots and stopped.
-
Adams battering Salazar in the first round.
-
Adams is the best woman's boxer I have seen. Very skillful. She is battering Salazar and desperately trying to stop her in the 2nd.
